Rain pounding against my window
A silent song in the city's busy hum
All together making a song that makes
My head spin with the melody
Spinning a new story in the corner of my mind

A hum escaping past my lips,
Matching the melody going on outside
Of this small apartment of mine

Changing back into your clothes from the night before
I want to ask you, (beg you) , to stay
If only until the rain stops

muttering softly into my ears

NaNoWriMo Project
Title: The Other Side
Genre: Sci-Fi
Synopsis: Spending five years in the International Space Exploration Academy, studying to get this far, and to be chosen for the Ares IV Mission was a dream come true. Sadly, nothing ever goes as planned nor is anything is as it seems.
Excerpt:
Mia stood up, leaving Aleck to hold onto Aiko, eyes wide, breathing harsh. “Aris, what did you do? Where are the guards, those beings?”
“Gone,” Aris’ monotone voice rang throughout the cell, bouncing off the walls. Aris pushes themself past Mia, walking over and picking up Aiko bridal style.
“Put me down, Aris! Aris, what is wrong with you?” Aiko screeched, attempting to lift her arms weakly to bang against Aris’ chest. Aiko was laid down on the stretcher, leaving her able to look up at Aris’ face, eyes now a bright reddish-brown, as if there was so sort of LED light behind them. Tilting her head to the side, is when Aiko noticed how pale they looked. “Aris...?”
Aris strapped her in, walking back to the cell to grab Blair and Yuki in one go, as if they had some kind of super strength, before settling them down individually on to the two other stretchers.
“Aris, come on, answer us,” Aleck sounded frustratingly angry, fist clenched at his sides and Aris simply grabbed the stretcher with Aiko on it, and walked it hit behind them down the long corridor.
“My name is not Aris,” Aris’ voice as soft, lower in pitch. One that sounded similar to thieves, but not all the same, almost like a more masculine version of Aris’ usual voice. “My name is Mars, and I’m trying to help you.”

Aleck smirked, “Oh, Yuki would so want to know.” Aris moved, walking at a faster pace in order to make it to the control room, Mia and Aleck following behind. “Honestly, today can’t get much worse.”
Mia raised an eyebrow as she looked over at him, “What makes you say that?”
“I woke up this morning thinking, ‘Ah, today is going to be great, I get to stay in a spaceship for six months orbiting Mars.’ Not, “Ah, today I am going to get abducted by aliens and crash land on some unknown planet, and oh yeah, I could have died.”
