Jin Guangyao’s outfit is based on the wedding clothes we briefly see him wearing in flashback, while I got to come up with what Xichen wears! the thing about jin guangshan is like… do you realise how badly you have to fuck up for your chinese child to kill you

and not just any chinese child but meng yao, who by all evidence is one of the most filial children in a series already stuffed with very filial children! he

obeyed his mother’s dying wish with utmost dutifulness despite great difficulty and also it being fairly evident that his efforts would ultimately be futile

remained filial for years to a man who insulted his mother, publicly humiliated and almost killed him, rejected him, then continued to emotionally abuse him even after accepting him into the household

never defended himself in any way against his stepmother even though she was verbally and physically abusing him to the point where he had to make efforts to hide it

built a whole-ass temple to honour his one good parent

really cannot stress just how far pushed jin guangyao would have had to be that he decided on patricide!!!
