excuse me for not being here in literally forever but i have a question:

how do you guys explain rp to your in-person friends? as in the ones that have zero idea of what rp is (or what tunglr is lmao). i need advice because everything i’ve come up with sounds so weird

athenodora holds onto some pretty negative feelings towards aro.   she isn’t at all vocal about it,  she never blatantly disrespects him, but she won’t deny it if she’s directly asked about it by someone she trusts.   not even to aro himself.   she’s very careful with this, though, because she knows that the volturi need to look  unified  and she has to be a part of that  –  outwardly, anyway.

if she disagrees with something, she isn’t going to hide it from him, but she won’t ever just come out and say it when there are others near (excluding caius and marcus, ofc, because obviously they’d both be aware of her mindset towards their leader).   that would upset the  balance  they’ve got going on, and athenodora likes the peace that the coven has brought her and caius.   if she ever needs to disagree with something and it’s a little more public than she’d like, she’s very careful with her tone and her wording.

she’s also  not afraid  of him, which i think is pretty important to note.   she doesn’t doubt his capabilities in any way by thinking that he wouldn’t retaliate in some way if she pushed him too hard, but she has been with him long enough to know that he’d never just outright kill her.   at the  very least,  athenodora believes that he has a strong enough bond with caius that he’d think twice before coming for her head  –  no matter how infuriating she can be.

overall, she’s loyal to him because caius is loyal to him;  their bond, or what semblance of a bond they do have, doesn’t go any deeper than that.   it never has, and it never will.

listen.... dora was Genuinely fond of carlisle while he was with the volturi, and you can’t tell me that she doesn’t make special trips to see him and esme every decade or so... bc you’d be wrong.

#her dislike of the cullens has more to do with the fact that they’re treated as above the law on more than one occasion #but she actually likes some of them.... for who they are as people #esme and carlisle are forever her fave #emmett makes her laugh #rose she could bond with #edward.... not so much but she’d Tolerate him for carlisle’s sake #she can’t stand bella.... ever.... for any reason #alice’s power unnerves her but for the most part she remains neutral when it comes to her #jasper unsettles her for Deeper reasons and she’s very Fighty whenever he’s near #but overall like.... catch the cullens being ‘on guard’ or whatever when they sense her coming but she just.. #intrudes into their lives like ‘hey i’m here to be entertained’ #mobile tbt.

okay i’ve never read smeyer’s life and death and i don’t think i ever will but from what i’ve heard about it, from what i understand, i want to say something.... losing caius would kill athenodora. it would be the end of her, but if she found out that he had something to do with didyme’s death, she wouldn’t hesitate to turn him in. didyme was such an influential, genuine part of athenodora’s life and to murder such a beautiful person is... unthinkable to her. caius’ execution would mean broken sobbing in private rooms; grief masked to the public in favor of a strong, united front alongside sulpicia; and it would undoubtedly feel like she were drowning for years. he is her true mate, the absolute love of her life, and to lose him would leave her missing a big part of herself. at the same time, it would be something she knew had to be done. she would miss him terribly, and grieve him honorably, but she wouldn’t feel guilty in bringing justice to didyme’s killers.

athenodora had kept tabs on klaus mikaelson, as she often did with new allies, and despite an official introduction having never been made, athenodora is quite familiar with the persona of klaus mikaelson.   she had mouths sworn to secrecy spilling every word only to her.   little birds that athenodora cherished and loved and spoiled, and in return, they remained loyal to her personally.   they had spied for her even when she hadn’t asked, but athenodora had learned precious little from their hard work.   he was a mystery, they claimed; they only knew what he wanted them to know.

it was through athenodora's own observance of him—glances in his direction, listening ears attuned to his voice—that she learned something within him was within her, too.

a week later, instead of sending her canaries to do her bidding, athenodora seeks the hybrid out in the early morning, when the sun has just peaked through the castle's windows.   silent steps lead her deeper into the library where she knows him to be, and, careless as ever, she inserts herself into his sightline like a woman with an agenda.   with languid movements, athenodora hops onto the windowsill, effectively obscuring klaus' view.   she stares openly, then—and if it offends him, she pretends not to notice.

she sighs as if she's put out somehow, but she doesn’t offer much more in terms of an explanation for her sudden presence.   she is mindful of her volume when she speaks, words intended only for his ears.   "aro inclines to believe you have no ulterior motives for being here... but do you know what i believe?"  leaning forward, athenodora offers no place for an answer.   "i believe you are biding your time.   if you are as powerful as you say you are, what do you seek to gain from this?"   the silent challenge is clear in the way her eyes hold his own, a temptress inciting his ire, a whisper of her voice,  "surely you haven't submitted to our rule so easily... for nothing?"

this got me thinking of athenodora and dhampir children .... as half humans, dora would be able to watch them grow!! she would be able to nurture them!! athenodora taking in an orphaned infant hybrid and raising them as her own. athenodora finally getting to experience true motherhood while still obeying the laws her coven have set. however extenuating the circumstances, athenodora would be able to be a mother. she fucking deserves that.

when the volturi dealt with immortal children for the first time, athenodora was definitely one of the first to suggest that they gather information about them before throwing them into the fire and ordering their extinction. they had caused an incredible amount of problems, but perhaps, as innocent children in the matter, they deserved an “investigation” of sorts before their condemnation. unfortunately for her, it was proven pretty quickly that they couldn’t be taught like more mature newborns and they could easily become a threat to their existence as a whole. during that time of uncertainty, dora definitely stole one away for a day or so to coddle him and get overly attached to him in the process. there had been a minor temper tantrum when she was informed that they couldn’t be allowed to live, but she knew it was necessary. to her credit, she was the one to throw him into the fire.
