Very true, actually.
It’s why those romance novels (old and new) are filled with scenarios where a naive woman is abducted and falls in love with some pirate captain, adventurer, or (as has been popular with the more internet-savvy generation) a monster/beast-man. Because to want sex is impure to a lot of people (and thus the self), and the specific kind of sex/kink that you can’t readily get in more traditional/religious societies/eras has to be fulfilled through writing/art.
Could also extend to those scenarios where the pov character realizes they might be gay after having that surprise encounter with someone of the same sex. A way for the writer (and perhaps the reader) to understand their feelings in a space they otherwise couldn’t do publicly. Not all, mind you - but it’s an interesting thing to think about when it comes to such writing.
Shoutout to incredibly contrived set-ups for kink stories, I respect the grind so much. One time I was frolicking in a field of flowers and I found a fic whose summary started w 'IN A WORLD WHERE THE LOSING ATTORNEY HAS TO SUCK OFF THEIR OPPOSITION' and it's been stuck on my mind ever since

An interesting essay on different forms of visual-storytelling, their origins/differences, and how they're presented/effected in the industry. Much recommendation.
Since it's my birthday I think you should all watch this 40 minute be video essay I made

Outside my home, I've been only to Florida/California/New York in the US, and El Salvador. I wish I could travel more.
count everything, including dorms, moving between houses on a single campus/compound, etc.
if you were/are homeless/couch surfing, count each location where you stayed at least a week.

A request by @danguy96 in the form of tribute piece to the late Akira Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball among others.
Depicting the characters of Toriyama, Goku from Dragonball/Z and Arale from Dr. Slump, being comforted by Astro Boy and Superman. It's meant to be a duel-comfort, with Astro Boy representing creator Osamu Tezuka (to whom Akira succeeded as a major influence in Anime/Manga), and Superman as a representative of the West.
This was something I wanted to do well one, going as far as to best capture the inking style of Akira with a bit of the coloring style he did with my own personal stylistic liberties mixed in.
I'm not unique to say that my childhood and young life had been influenced by Akira's work. Dragonball Z in particular shaped the media I enjoy, the stories I love, and the characters I look up to and admire. I, like so many creatives/artists, were inspired by the his stories - and I hope that Toriyama knew how much it meant to so many around the world.
