#this is succchhh a stupid gripe but i hate when lyrics are called poetry #obv there is overlap between the forms. like lyric poetry and limerick and the sing-song quality of writing #but a lyricist is not inherently a poet or vis-versa THEY ARE DIFFERENT ART FORMS THAT HAVE DIFFERENT CONSIDERATIONS AND STRUCTURES #being a good poet is a seperate skill bc the stuff you are drawing on is different #even rap/hiphop is like. different from spoken word or slam. like its dismissive of both histories to collapse them into one #even if they inform the other #anyway sorry for being a cunt #this has been nagging me all morning #my posts
