i feel so incredibly, incredibly worthless. like saying "fine, if that's how it is, if that's how it's going to be, then i'll just kill myself too. who cares? i'm not sticking around for this. i'm just not"

i found out myriad's main therapist at the time of his death was basically practicing mind control and that's why he didn't want myriad to go into the hospital even though he was so suicidal. and i just didn't know. and i feel like such an asshole. like how could that have happened? how could that have happened? why didn't i stop it? why didn't i stop it? why didn't i stop it?
i know the savior complex is just narcissism in armor on a white horse, but here i am back here again. back here not understanding why i couldn't stop it or prevent it. how again, i let it happen.

disabled isn’t a bad word. i can’t stand when able-bodied people say “stop bringing yourself down. i’m not going to tolerate your negative self talk”
me saying i’m disabled isn’t negative self talk. it’s just a true statement. and it’s neutral.
like i once had someone say “i wouldn’t say you’re disabled” like dude i can’t stand in the shower without nearly fainting. i can’t even get out of bed most days. i have to sit down when i brush my teeth. i had to drop out of high school because i couldn’t physically endure it. i am disabled. that is not your truth to decide. it’s my reality.
able-bodied people do not decide how you should or should not feel about your disability. they don’t decide how or whether you talk about it. it is your disability. it is a part of your life, and it sucks a lot of the time but it’s still a true statement. it impacts our everyday lives. they can’t shut down your troubles or dismiss your reality like it’s not real when the world is built in their favor.

Ableds NEED to believe that there’s a cure for every illness/our chronic illnesses and disabilities are our fault because otherwise it could happen to them too and they can’t be having that.

I sit with my grief. I mother it. I hold its small, hot hand. I don’t say, shhh. I don’t say, it's okay. I wait until it is done having feelings. Then we stand and we go wash the dishes.

Why do I share my disability?
Because those kind people who shared theirs made me confident. Not all of us are accepted in our lives. Some of us aren't even treated like a being who deserves respect. Sometimes people ignore us altogether. Sometimes they say nasty things.
It hurt a lot because I felt broken, I felt wrong. I questioned my worth. I thought that I meant nothing.
Then I started reading what other disabled people posted. They were confident, loud, proud. "Get your accommodations, fight for your rights, shout your existence!" I felt accepted, I felt strong, I felt home. I became proud of myself, I never bowed down and looked at the pavement again.
Relatives try to give me random advice, some think that I exaggerate, some think that I'm a faker, some worry too much, some pity me in a "oh the little soul whose life is ruined" way.
But the disabled community compliments my cane, shares cool tips, laughs with me, mourns with me, stands with me, supports me, just gets me. I am allowed to rant, joke, cry, laugh, ramble, speak...
I am allowed to exist.
I want every disabled person to know that you aren't wrong. You aren't broken. You are glorious. We are the ones who change the world. I absolutely adore the way you loudly and proudly exist. Thank you. You are a part of this loving community and I'm so grateful.

the smartest things the prison industrial complex ever did were
1) convincing American society that prisoners are all “rapists and murderers” despite the fact that: a) most prisoners are drug offenders, b) even most violent offenders are just victims of class society and could very easily be turned into non-violent people, and c) our country seems to be run by people who are either rapists or murderers and no one seems to care.
2) using that bad reputation to not only make people apathetic to any kind of brutality or atrocity committed against prisoners who don’t deserve any of it (see a and b) but using it as an excuse to increase the power the carceral state has over EVERYONE, all while smearing those who disagree as supporting rapists and murderers.
when talking about prison abolition, it’s important to note that most people, including most leftists, have internalized these ideas to a huge extent.

People need to humble up and understand why us spoonies are pissed off. I am living here with just one roll as someone with Crohn’s, while they have six batches with like 24 rolls in them.
