The Wayhaven Chronicles - Update 19/April/2024

The demo section is now with the editor and testers! Yay!

Eventually, at least, lol. Internet troubles yet again meant it took longer to get to them, but it finally went through.

Chapter Two is the real set-up chapter for the whole story for Book Four, as well as an important introduction—so a lot going on! But it should be quite flowy to write as there’s not too many branching scenes at this point except for love interest scenes, meaning it should bump along at a really good pace.

Next week, I’ll be pushing on with Chapter Two and focusing on that while the demo section is being worked on by the others.

The last Spring Scenario Special will also be up next week on Patreon, which is Nate/Nat’s and the MC’s mission at a mystery location…hehe! :D

I've been replaying M's route and I've to say it's my fave. This time I managed to get high relationship with Bobby (who's obviously not over the MC) and it made me think.

How would M react if Bobby told them something along the lines of "you might be sleeping with MC right now, but I know what's it like to be loved by them"

What would post book 3 M think about that? Would it even bother them? And what about the other ROs?

Hmm, good question!

I’m not sure it’s something that would have occurred to M to think of! But after Bobby would have brought it up, M would immediate shrug it off.

It’s not until later when it would wiggle and worm at them, and they’d be confused just why that statement is bothering them so much, hehe! :D

It definitely would be a thought that lingered for M at this point in the romance.

Hi Sera! So we've met Units Bravo, Alpha and soon to be Delta, and you've said the top 3-5 teams are all generally on par with each other. I'm just curious then if we're going to meet Units Charlie and/or Echo at any point? I know of course we won't meet every team, because that would be so much, and Unit Victor is relevant in a special way with Alima, but will we get to meet all of those most elite teams?

It’s possible you may meet them throughout. I know places where I want to introduce teams, but also don’t want to overwhelm everyone with too many characters just because I’m desperate to introduce the teams I love, lol! :D

So it’s very much a decision of who would suit best, as well as personalities.

Like, Unit Alpha and Victor are both very extroverted, happy teams

Unit Delta is a stark contrast, and it felt right to show a different team like that on book four.

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 12/April/2024

So close to finally being done with the character creator, editing, and clean up code (though I think that will be something I continue to do as I’m writing and find variables I can condense or sort out)!

This part has taken soooo much longer than I planned or wanted, but I have to remind myself it’s worth the work—especially when it means I can just transfer what I’ve spent so long sorting for this book to the next one and just add on the variables for the last book. It does make me realise just how many threads and branches Wayhaven now has!…But also makes me all the more excited to get to write them when I see where they are going! :D

But I’m getting some serious writing withdrawals…to the point that I may have done a little bit towards the next chapter this week, lol!

At least once this is completely done, the writing should progress much quicker, and I can really settle myself into the actual story writing. Something I am even more eager for after going over Chapter One’s writing for editing! I absolutely love what I have! The love interest openings gave me such romantic (and sometimes steamy!) vibes. It sets the perfect tone for how the book really will have that seriously romance focus, particularly with the villain pushing the love interests forward on that, hehe! ;D

But I’m excited to get into the storyline for this book too! Something very different for what I’ve done with Wayhaven so far, and even a mechanic I have only for this book! I’ll be excited to find out how your MC’s react to it!

I will be pushing on to get the final tasks done on this demo chapter and get it over to the editor this weekend. It IS happening this weekend, even if I have to stay up all day and nights, lol! Which means next week it’s back to writing! Yay! I am SO ready for that, as well as being much quicker at it, lol! :D

Aah, Falk…Even in Book Two I couldn’t stop myself from having even hints at antagonist romances lol! :D

At least I get to actually write one for Book Four, though I will say I am SERIOUSLY excited for the vampire romances to progress! There’s some major things coming up for those long term romances…hehe! ;)

A building as old as the items it contains, Rooted Craft is nestled between the (rather boring) pharmacy and (rarely-used) estate agents, meaning its polished dark wood frontage with ivy and honeysuckle tumbling dreamily down around it stands out like a flower amongst weeds.

After being split and turned into a retail space when its life as a factory was done, this shop has always sold the more pricey items, though these days there's a focus on antiques. It's been in the same family for three generations, each one adding their mark onto the store and what they sell.

Hello ^^ First of all, I absolutely adore Wayhaven! It has brought me so much joy over the past years, thank you (and Nai as well!) so much for all the effort you put in!

I've a question that may be spoiler territory, but it's been on my mind ever since Elidor mentioned in book 3 that he's half fae. It makes me wonder, what is/was his other parent?

Elidor is only half-fae, yes. I almost revealed more about that in book three but managed to contain myself because I have possible plans in the future for Elidor as a love interest (yes, I know, I can’t help myself, lol :D).

So yeah, I’ll keep more about our hunky Fae nurse a secret for now, hehe ;D

How did Rebecca feel about the ex-member leaving Unit Bravo? Who was the ex-member closest to out of the group?

Also, I hope this isn’t too sensitive or spoiler-y of an ask, but I have to know. Will we be able to give Tapeesa chocolate in book 4? THE PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW.

Rebecca wasn’t as close to the team as she is now, so she was able to look more at it from a logistical stand point of just needing to fill the position rather than the emotional toll it took on the others.

It would be a very different case now if one of them left though!

Probably Nate/Nat was closest to them, but they were all close which is why it came as a shock when they decided to leave.

I almost put in an extra scene for all the possible kidnap supernaturals with the MC, which is where the MC could have given Tapeesa chocolate :D

But it felt too clanky and out of place with everything wrapping up at that point in the story.

I’ll have to find a better spot in the future, lol!

The Wayhaven Chronicles - Update 05/April/2024

A really successful week this week!

After some suggestions about multiple choices on the same screen from a few amazing patrons, I looked into how to do that and if it would work for the character creation.

And it really has! I could cry it feels like there’s finally a solution, lol! :D

It does mean I had to completely start over, but with how it looks now, I think I have found how I want it to be for all the future books. It means I should just be able to copy everything I’m doing to the next book’s character creation screen and then just add the last book’s stats. That’s going to save SO much time in the future!

Starting over also meant I could put in the new body part selection choice for those who want to specify, though there is also the option to pass it. It was a selection suggested by one of my sensitivity readers to help hopefully make intimate scenes much easier to write, as well as much clearer to read for everyone!

That selection will pop up in the actual narrative for those that import characters, so you’ll still have that choice if you want to specify it for your character, but it means for people creating characters they can go into the story already that choice in place for the intimate scenes (if you want the detailed scenes).

Here’s a glimpse at what the character creator screens are looking like now:

So much cleaner and neater, as well as a WHOLE lot quicker! I’m just not sure how it will pop up on phones yet—hoping not too much scrolling!

The character creation is the last thing I need to finish before the demo section can finally go to the editor and first readers. It’s been worth the time to get it finally sorted though, especially as it means it’s also already set for future books, and I don’t have to spend this much time on it again, or melt my brain with figuring out coding, lol! :D

I’m not keen on the ‘Select a’ bit, but that’s how it shows up automatically, so I’m doing my best to work around that.

So yeah, it was so nice to finally get somewhere on this character creator after so many different tries. I really hope it’ll be so, so much quicker and easier for not just you guys to go through but also me and my readers for testing, hehe!

What's the reason behind MC getting to choose their handler? MC is supposed to be part of UB, so should that not then automatically make Rebecca the handler? How does it work when the rest answer to Rebecca but MC to A?

This is definitely not a criticism btw, I'm absolutely giddy to get Adam to be my MC's handler! I'm going to annoy him so much! 😈

I know some people’s characters really don’t get along with Rebecca, and she isn’t someone who would force the handler issue.

Unit Bravo already have a command structure in place, so Adam/Ava taking over briefings and things isn’t much extra effort for them.

As long as everything still gets done, the teams of the Agency kind of have a lot of freedom to do the tasks as they need!

Hey Mishka, best wishes from Bulgaria! I'm a big fan, a HUGE FAN, reading updates on Book 4 gives me a dopamine high, knowing it's getting closer and closer ^_^. The scene where Sin crashes a building on himself and the MC and then our RO reacted got me right in the MeowMeow *holds my chest tightly over my heart*. Please give me hope and tell me there will be scenes like that in future books. Thank you!

Well, anyone who has followed me for some time knows I love me some major angst, hehe! So yes, you can expect more scenes like that in the future- though not always when it’s the MC struggling!

But don’t worry for those that can’t handle the pain as much! There will be plenty of fluffy, fun, steamy, and extremely romantic moments to balance it all out ;)

Okay, I’ve been taken over by thoughts of Unit Alpha after the Valentine’s Day Patreon goodies. So, I NEED to know; what would Unit Alpha have seen in the mirrors at the carnival if they had been there with the MC instead of Unit Bravo?

Hiya! Glad you could stumble onto the games!

The Wayhaven Chronicles is an on-going series of choice-based games where the focus is supernatural romance with a good dose of found-family friendship! :D

Each book gives a different story to play through while there are also overarching story plots at play- many of them with outcomes decided by you as you play.

The aim of the books is to create a fun space to indulge in and get lost in with easy reading but memorable moments with all characters but especially the all important vampire love interests!

If you’d like specific information on each book in the series released so far, you can always take a look at the website.

I also released a small Christmas side project that isn’t as long as the main games if you’d prefer to take a look into that and get a feel for how things are.
