Yùlóng blinked at his response, though remained silent. She understood what he meant and there was no need to follow up.
At his inquiry the woman gazed down, fixating on the smooth dark wood of the table and how the candle light glowed against the surface while her fingers played with the fabric of the hanfu she was wearing.
She did not speak right away because the woman herself did not know the answer to his question. Why had she kissed him back? It went beyond the fact Yùlóng was reminded of her lover. She was certain of it. Thinking back to their previous night together, moments before their parting, she thought about how his lips felt against hers and the eruption of emotions that came with it. Mainly confusion. But, there was something else there. In those mere moments the divine was able to forget and perhaps that is why she responded to the kiss. Yes, that must be it.
Finally, she glanced up at him.
“I could let go and forget everything for just a moment.”
Silky words caress his ears as she speaks and the assassin watches her in silence for a moment contemplating the true meaning of her statement. The first logical excuse for it is in regards of her past lover but there’s a darker gallery of memories haunting her that obviously turned this meeting into a test. It’s up to him to accept the situation or not. He has to make a choice.
How amusing.
Reaching over, the black clad figure moves until it covers the woman’s and his hand holds her shoulder, guiding her down on the floor. His palm then moves to catch her wrist, just in case she decides to reach up to touch him, while his free hand keep the other pressed against the mat as well. Like poisoned waterfalls, strands of his hair frame his peaceful visage as he stares down at the musician, while he kneels on top of her, keeping minimal contact with their bodies.
This is very familiar.
She’s been made to be touched and worshiped. Her nude form ought to be the topic of uncountable artistic pieces and he wonders if she has allowed anyone to use her as a model. How many roads did she travel before meeting him? The young man leans closer, but at a safe distance from her lips.
“A device to help oblivion,” he whispers.
He insists, yes, but just because he can’t find another answer to this idiotic attraction of sorts that makes no sense whatsoever. Yes, he’s a cultured man and she lives for the refined arts and the enjoyment of beauty but, what else is there?
“Does your soul often dance naked for strangers?”

Perhaps his own ‘peace’ is being conformed with the way he exists right now. As an ethereal entity, soulless, silent.

The assassin looks straight into the flickering flame of the candle in front of him.

To any man, such statement would represent weakness but also pride to have such a faithful woman who’s ready to offer her life for his in any given moment. The issue here is that she is -not- his woman and he does -not- need anyone to protect him at all. Alone, he has severed many heads, pierced hearts, cut limbs and slit throats without help since a very young age. A scratch on his shoulder is nothing and to have her standing between him and the five assassins was irksome. And inconvenient. Thankfully, it didn’t last long. It was a good pause for him to readjust his position to deliver his deadly strike to his enemies.
All dead in a blink of an eye.
“They weren’t going to,” he merely answers, while the cicadas sing their dull song at midnight.

“Scary,” Minho couldn’t help but cringe and clutch his chest at the new information. “Well, I guess the King’s screwed, isn’t he? Maybe they’ll elect a new leader that won’t poke his nose into random business. Can’t they just let things lie? Geez.” He placed both hands on his hips and gave a long, drawn out sigh, before eying the assassin with a curious expression.
“What do you think I should do then?” he asked, not particularly willing to stab this hornet’s nest and drown in the mess that would inevitably crop up from this, “I don’t want to say that I get cold feet, but on the other hand, I’m in way too deep and should probably just bite the bullet. If shit goes down, guess I’ll just roll with the punches.” He wasn’t exactly very bright when it came to grand schemes like that, anyway. He just did things selfishly and expected his returns after all. Not much thought was really put into these anyway, it was such a spurn of the the moment thing fueled with rage anyway.
Eyes downcast, the assassin listens to the other man’s vulgar speech and as usual, his facial expressions do not falter one bit from the average. His voice is soft and almost casual.
“A frontal attack isn’t advised considering the fact that you don’t possess a power force to equal the king’s to take him down. Eliminating ministers one by one could be an alternative to position those you desire, as it’s been happening but it will raise suspicion and you will be charged with high treason which leads to death.”
Finally, the young man raises his sad, dark eyes at his employer with the calm of a vast lake.
“If used properly, persuasion can be your ally. Becoming enemies among each other through rumors will divide them and they can redirect their desperation to the only man in power with the means to help them.” A pause. “You.”
