Just realized that I forgot to mention the transformation of P’s hair to silver in my playthrough

Which is a shame because he is so pretty

With the freckkes reminding me of stars, he is a moon and stars child now

(I thought for a second it had turned blue, like Sophia’s - and Giangio’s? I could never quite decide if the later has greyish-blue or really blue hair)

Okay guys since I just finished FF16 and Lies of P I‘m debating what to play next, so interactive way to get some opinions

Gaaaaah. I did it! I beat Lies of P and got the „Rise of P“ ending!

Ow my fingers. Getting those guards in might have hurt me more than the boss XD

(Btw if I start New Game plus now, can I get a different ending or is that locked now and I always get Rise?)

Soooooo. Call me stupid but I‘m not sure I understood everything

So in the end, Gepetto apologizes and calls us „son“. But. Does this mean Carlo is back now, that we ARE Carlo? Or is he acknowledging P as a human voy and his son? I‘m still struggling to understand if the game wants to say „P is Carlo“ or „P is P“.

Given that the ending is called Rise of P, and Gepetto chooses to say „son“ instead of „Carlo“, I will go ahead and say P is his own person, and while he might remember Carlo now, he is not the same person as him. I feel more comfy with that personally given that I saw P ���grow“ into a person

Also did I not say Giangio is sus?! I was so right. No that’s not a sad cutie that’s a sneaky conspirator! And, is he immortal, or would he like to be? He calls P brother snd hints at him being immortal (which actually could happen, Puppet given life and all)

Also also. Dorothy?! Are we going into Oz now?! XD What is this, game, you cannot stop there! Is there a DLC, a sequel, both?

Lies of P update -

RIP to my hands it was nice knowing them. Maybe, just maybe though, it was not my best idea to play through Laxasia boss fight (seven tries), the entire rest of the dungeon with back-teleporting to the Hotel, and then the Simon boss fight (five tries) all in one sitting

Oh and eight tries on the boss whose-name-is-nobody after Simon

Hands are dead, I am dead tired, and my theory that I do not know when to quit confirmed. But all in all, I‘m quite proud of myself, considering there was a time during the prologue until right up to the King where I thought I will never manage this game XD

All in all, this final boss seems not as difficult as others? No Status aliments, no AOE or sneak attacks, I think this will be doable!

Slurrey Thoughts on the story under the cut, for spoiler reasons, I will talk more in depth on it when I‘m not dead on my feet:

I‘m just. So FLASHED from all this. See here, some of it I suspected for a long time (I never trusted Gepetto, and Simon was openly villainous, and the Carlo refrences too strong)

But then things like Sophia and her story, her state, I never could have predicted. That hurt so much to see, and the decision, while on first glance easy, was horrible to make especially since Gemini says „I think she wants to live.“ I almost hoped there would be option three, cut her loose and take her out of there, but maybe it was way too late for that. Maybe we can do something with her Ergo.

And then even though I predicted it, Gepetto calmly looking at this boy who only SLIGHTLY resembles Carlo at this point and demanding his heart made me furious. By now, I am convinced P is not Carlo, but his own person, and Gepetto is so blind to see it he loses a second son in the process. He never looked at and after Carlo when he could have, and now he never looks at P either. Only his regret, his son, his „good boy“ is what matters

Sir if I could have P yell at you, I would let him

I think I caught Gepetto saying „I did not bind you to the Covenant because Carlos emotions and memories were never in you“ which puzzled me a bit, since two lines later, Gepetto demands „Regain your memories Carlo“. Seems to contradict each other? But I was trying not to day so maybe I misheard.

Lies of P Update -

So. I met Laxasia. Or more like, she met me - sword first. Can‘t say it was love on first sight; in fact I feel like she might very much dislike me.

But maybe we can learn to get along. We got time. I can already tell I will be here for a while XD

In all seriousness though - I can get her down to her second phase relatively safe, together with Spectre that is. I will have to get used to her much faster pace after that though - and her jumps, I am still figuring out if those are Perfect Guard-able or not. I think I can ping-pong her electrical volleyballs back at her though

FFXVI spoilers

I've been listening to "All as one" from FFXVI almost daily since finishing the game (wdym I'm obsessed, it's my daily energy boost) and I've collected some really nice details from the final Eikon clash Ultima and Clive have got going:

* Ultima calls out to the Eikon's powers, something unpersonal like "Gales unrelenting" or "Earth Unyielding", not the Eikon itself. Clive on the other hand always calls out the Eikon's name, making it seem more personal. Stays in tune with Joshua pointing out that different from Ultima, Clive chose to listen to the people who believed in him, no matter how much power he had accumulated.

Cid's encouragement is immediately followed by Mid's - father passing it onto the daughter, basically

(On that note, since Mid is used for an attack of Titan which is basically just throwing hands, I had the hilarious thought of her going to fistfight Ultima if she only had the chance XD )

I've seen some people laugh because we hear Byron's encouragement "that's my boy" over Bahamuth's attack, but I think it's a very nice companion-piece to hearing Elwin's voice over "onward my son" when we use Odin - one brother is used for the light, the other for the darkness, connecting them

This is probably farfetched, but on the same note - Elwin being used with "onward" when we use the Darkness we got from Barnabas (a enemy we struggled so much against) is quite nice, like "onward, defeat the Darkness, overcome it" you know?

And yes, I've seen people point out that in one sidequest around Elwin's grave, Clive also said he needs to "go on", so hearing Elwin say this is basically confirming Clive's words again. As if he heard his son and is agreeing and supporting him

Clive's final attack with Phoenix is "Flames of Rebirth" which is just. Such a nice finale?

The soundtrack times exactly right so that the final attack is delivered to the lines of "All as one, marching together" followed right after by the most upbeat, hopeful notes of the song.

All in all, the entire final fight was just a chef's kiss of cinematic, choreography and symbolism.

Lies of P update (real quick one before work)

I'm carrying Gold Coins around with me like an idiot just because I heard some important sidequests require some of them. Otherwise I don't need them - I respeced all I wanted, and never use the Cube - so I just sell those I don't need. Now that made me think of Giangio secretely wanting to absolutely murder me cuz he ain't getting any of these fruits XD

(No I still do not trust him as far as I can throw him. He's. Way too convenient, and his fear of situations does not seem entirely genuine. Like. How did he make it to the Cathedral unscathed? He was not even hiding like Alidoro was, he was out in plain sight, and the place was crawling with carcasses. And he knows WAY too much about stuff that's going on tbh. And he insists on keeping to himself, rather than truly enter the hotel - maybe because Gepetto would have seen him? Or Sophia, Antonia? Not even after the raid on the hotel did he enter.

Nah, he's not trustworthy imo. And he is being sneaky about it, in stark contrast to Gepetto and Alidoro, so I'm even more sure of it.)

Rcent updates to P‘s demeanor while playing through til after the Door Guardian boss:

* He gets more and more noisy, huff, grunts, gnashing teeth etc. I even think I caught a „Tse!“ after getting back up after a direct hit

* He is twitchy. I didn‘t really notice it before, but in the beginning he barely moves in idle time, he just stands there. Now he is moving, shifting his weight, shaking out his legion arm, he barely holds still

* Either his posture changed or he’s the tiniest bit taller than before I feel like

* Went from petting the cat to lifting it up and - shaking it slightly? P it’s not gonna rattle it’s not a puppet omg sweetheart XD

* I think he got the tiniest bit more expewssive, cannot say for sure though because angling the camera on him during dialogue is hard

There is so many tiny details, it tells me lot of love and care went into this. Into P! The devs must adore him

Lies of P got me in a moral dilemma

Putting this under spoiler cut cuz I am now in the last stretch (just beat Door Guardian)

So. We are P. P is a puppet who is about to become (more) human

But we are also (were?) Carlo, a real human boy who - died? I think

So we are ALSO P the puppet who carries Carlo‘s soul / ergo in him.

Which leads me to ponder: Who are we?

Are we P - the puppet who is learning to be human, who is making friends

Are we Carlo - who died, got reborn, lost his memories and is now rediscovering them?

I can‘t help but think P is his own person. Discovering Carlo‘s memories really feels like that - like we are discovering and watching the memories of someone else. There is no connecting, and little similarities - I think, it’s hard to say because P shows little obvious emotions. But it seems like Carlo was a little hotheaded, a bit deviant, and tired of his father’s neglect. P does not have any of that. Heck, the puppet-boy only learned to show „Anger“ after the attack on the hotel, AFTER everything he has been through. There‘s no hothead in there

Dunno. I just feel like that would be a nice moral: You cannot bring back what is gone, you have to appreciate it when you still have it. Which Gepetto never did, when Carlo was alive - and then he tries bring him back, fails or cannot do it, and ends up creating P. And he does not appreciate HIM, either, he only sees that he is not Carlo.

* was disappointed to learn we cannot just leave Gepetto behind and adopt Venigni as a dad

* Beat the Brotherhood a second time after like ten times

* Realized that Joker - er, King of Riddles killed Venigni‘s Family

* Listened to Romeo‘s message to Carlo / P

* Killed Alidoro who is not Alidoro

* Learned Sophia is a ghost

Somehow the last one is the least surprising on in this utter mess XD

Turns out there WAS a sliver left and he got me full on the face with a punch, ending P's life.

I am so angry and I do not know if it's at me, at the game, or the boss. I will just let it all out after work when I tear this guy apart (hopefully) XD

Hades 2 rambling (no I have not had time to watch the dev stream yet, I‘m just excited):

* Since there is Odysseus, is there going to be Penelope? Telemachus? Is it going to be our job to reunite them, like we did with Achilles and Patroculus?

* From what I gathered, Melinoe did not get to grow up with Hades, Persephone and Zagreus. So no sibling moments? ToT But I need those in my life! I hope they will at least get some typical sibling-bonding afterwards. Oh, and PRANKS. I need them to pull pranks.

* There seem to be characters like Hercules, and what could be Polyphemus which did not make it into the stream, so I'm not sure if they are confirmed to show up but - If so, I wonder if Odysseus and Polyphemus will have beef - or Odysseus and Poseidon, for that matter. You know, the whole Odysee and "Nobody" thing? Blinding Polyphemus? It could be a bit like that uneasy relationship Thanatos and Sysiphus had got going.

For that matter, I want a running gag with Odysseus being "Nobody" please. So much potential. So much annoying everyone, including the narrator.

Also do Achilles and Patroclus KNOW Odysseus in this iteration? Based on the myths, they should from the Trojan war. That would be an interesting reunion

* I should hope the characters from the first game will return, and if they do, I want Theseus and Hercules to meet up. One calls himself the strongest hero / champion, the other is regularly known as THE strongest hero in Greece myth. I say FIGHT (not literally. Or, maybe a little? XD)

* I need at least one jelaous moment from Zag over Melinoe‘s ghost arm

* The other way around, I need an Oh moment from Melinoe (who hopefully will have met Than and Meg at that point) when she realizes her big bro is in a relationship with Death and a Fury. Yes I will just assume they will keep that relationship going in the second game.

If anything else pops up (especially after I can FINALLY watch that stream) I will add onto it but these are my most pressing thoughts right now
