Quick debunks of popular Anti-Elriel arguments🌹

"Azriel's only desperate for a mate"

If that was true then why on earth would he have a romantic interest in a mated, "unavailable", female instead of any random woman that he knows?

"Azriel's only jealous of what his brothers have"

Yeah and guess what? Cassian was jealous of Rhys before he got with Nesta. It's a pattern. If it was only jealousy that drives him then he'd be actively seeing/sleeping with other females to find a mate.

"Azriel only likes Elain because his 2 brothers are with her 2 sisters"

Why are majority of Elriel scenes, indicating interest from both of them, set before Nesta & Cassian were revealed as mates?

"Azriel only lusts for Elain and his feelings are purely sexual"

Oh really? Then why did he snarl at Rhys when he merely suggested for him to go to the pleasure halls? Why did he put literal rocks in his snowballs when throwing them at Rhys after Solstice?

"Azriel was insecure about his hands around Elain, but not with Gwyn"

Actually, he was shown to be mindful about his hands around Mor, Nesta, Elain and Nyx who are all people he really cares about. Truth hurts but Gwyn isn't important to him in that way for him to care what she thinks about him.

"Elain is bad for Azriel which is why his shadows vanish around her"

Azriel has had his shadows for 500 years. That's plenty of time for him to understand why his shadows react in certain ways. If they vanished because of any negative reasons then he'd be aware of them. Also, if his shadows "dislike" Elain so much then why were they looking like snakes preparing to strike when Nesta insulted her?

"3 Brothers x 3 Sisters is a boring cliche"

A story where, for the first time in SJM history, a mating bond is broken and we see the aftermath of this event is boring? Really? (As if reading a story where mates get together for the 273946th time isn't repetitive...)

"Azriel coddles Elain"

Azriel being concerned over Elain's safety during her potential involvement with the Dread Trove is coddling, yet Rhys planning Nesta's murder for simply looking at Feyre is okay?

"Elain returned the necklace from Azriel"

The man, unbeknownst to her, lied to her that their intimate moment was a mistake. She was hurt and upset because she thought her feelings were mutual. Why would she keep a necklace from him when he said their almost kiss was a mistake? (Crying at the angst)

"Elain doesn't belong in the Night Court"

"I've been alive almost five and a half centuries, and I'm not sure of that, either," Azriel said. - This is what he said in response to Feyre telling him that she isn't sure where she fits in anymore. So if Elain leaves, who's to say Az won't follow?😏

"Why did Azriel not tell Rhys he loves Elain in his bonus chapter?"

Because the chapter is available to a limited amount of people and SJM would never include something so significant in bonus content that not everyone has access to.

"Azriel & Elain haven't interacted in ACOSF since Solstice"

It's a smart tactic from SJM. She's basically left the relationship between them as a little cliffhanger, making the readers wonder what's going to happen next, especially after their last interaction. (Also, Cassian stayed away from Nesta after their Solstice interaction too and look where they are now👀)

"Elain returned Truth-Teller to Azriel"

Obviously because it's HIS property. Why do so many people not understand that?

"Elain hasn't rejected her mating bond to Lucien and it's been 2 years now"

Yeah because something so important in Elain's life will probably happen from her POV so we can see what she thinks/feels throughout the process. I mean, would you like to read about Nesta's journey from Feyre's POV? Didn't think so.

"Elriel isn't forbidden love"

Not only did Rhys, a character of higher status, order Azriel to stay away from Elain, but she also has a mate. For now. These factors go against them having a relationship.

"Nesta didn't change Elain's anatomy and Gwyn has bendy bones"

"Cassian, you're a terrible drunk."

“I am- I am not,” Cassian said, only able to keep himself upright by having his arm slung around Rhysand’s shoulders. “I am....a delightful drunk.” 

Azriel snorted. “Last time you got drunk, Cass, you flew over the city yelling how much you love Nesta, then went into way too much detail about what happens between you two behind closed doors. And you were nearly nude.”

“It was a great look for our court,” Rhysand snorted, sarcastically.

“At least I’m easy going,” Cassian slurred. “You two...” He scoffed. “You two have sticks shoved so far up your asses-.”

Rhysand began to laugh as Azriel shook his head and said, “We’re cutting you off.” 

“Cutting me off?” Cassian repeated, arm still slung around Rhysand’s shoulder. “I....am the General Commander of the Ni-Night Court’s...Armies...” He hiccuped and sighed. “And I want wine. Let’s go to Rita’s.”

Azriel shook his head. “Cass, we just left Rita’s.” 

“Then let’s go to the Rainbow,” Cassian said, pushing off of Rhysand and spreading his arms wide. “Let’s go to the fucking Rainbow! They always have a party going on.”

A couple walked by, chuckling, and said hello to Rhysand as they passed. The High Lord bowed his head in greeting before looking at Cassian. “And what will we do at the Rainbow?” 

“We can go to the theater,” Cassian said, spreading his wings and carrying himself just a few feet off the ground. “They have alcohol at the theater.”

“That’s the only reason you want to go to the theater?” Azriel chimed. “You know, people perform there, too.”

“And they would be honored to have their High Lord there to watch,” Cassian said, his feet hitting the ground, both hands outstretched to Rhysand. “We should grace them with your presence.” 

Rhysand laughed, his smile bright. “There aren’t any shows tonight, Cass. I should bring you home to your Mate.”

Cassian snorted. “Nesta made it very clear that it was a ladies’ night. Emerie and Gwyn are there, and they’re reading naughty books and talking to the house.” Cassian shrugged. “I was told to get the hell out, so here I am with you pricks.” 

“Drunk off your ass,” Azriel muttered, with a grin. “Something tells me you’ll be sleeping on Rhys and Feyre’s couch tonight.”

“No, no,” Rhysand jumped in. “Last time he slept over drunk, he woke Nyx up because he was singing at the top of his lungs around four a.m. After that, Feyre banned intoxicated sleepovers.” 

Azriel’s grin widened.

“I sleep at Azriel’s then,” Cassian said, bringing Azriel into a hug. The latter groaned. “He loves when we cuddle.”

“We have never cuddled,” Azriel protested, then hesitated. “Well, there was that one time, but it was cold and we had no blankets.”

“Don’t-Don’t deny our love affair, Az,” Cassian slurred. “Rhys would never judge.”

Rhysand tossed his head back and laughed. 

“Fine,” Azriel said, huffing a laugh, himself. “I’ll take your drunk ass home. Let’s go-.”

“Party at the Rainbow!” Cassian yelled, pushing Azriel’s arm off his shoulder as he rain into the square, where music was blaring and people were dancing.

Rhysand and Azriel watched him go, standing side by side, shaking their heads.

“He really is a terrible drunk,” Azriel muttered.

Rhysand laughed. “That’s true. But, he’s our terrible drunk.”

Azriel sighed. “That means that have to go dance with him, don’t we?”

Rhysand put his arm around Azriel’s shoulder as they walked toward the square. “Yes. Yes it does.”

Elain stepped out of a shadow behind him, and rammed Truth-Teller to the hilt through the back of the king’s neck as she snarled in his ear, “Don’t you touch my sister.”

I’m also agreeing with @starcrossed-wildfire @pomegranatebitch as well. Mr. Archeron’s behavior as a father is inexcusable, but so is Nesta’s, no matter how angry she is as the eldest (which she rightfully is) but that doesn’t excuse her actions either.

Her wanting to be petty at her father is valid, but it doesn’t diminish her father’s disability. She has to be the bigger person about it, and even if her father never comes around and pulls his own weight, she has to ignore him and focus on her sisters and her relationships with them.

The whole Archeron family dynamic is toxic, but Nesta and her sisters need to start growing out of any resentment and pettiness towards their father, as he is unlikely to change, if any, and become their own.

LMAOO Nesta would leave her fathers cane out of his reach so that he would have to walk to it. I cannot contain my excitement for Acosf because our girl is *petty*.

Feyre is finished! It took so long… I thought I wasn’t ever going to make it haha

Here's my cup of tea for the day:

ACOSF will be a "mature" book. It will be a transition into new adult book, which means that we will get subjects for people who have grown between ACOTAR and when ACOSF gets released. That means if you were 15, for example, when you first read ACOTAR, you should be 21 when ACOSF gets released and so on.

For example Harry Potter (please dont tell me that what Harry went through at 12 in the first book was the same at what he went through at 17 in Deathly Hollows)

Now, your mindset at 15 will not be the same as 21, I imagine. You'd have experienced more "adult" problems and let's remember that Nesta is 24 in ACOFAS and even though she's currently immortal, she still have a human mind and she's trying to transition still from human to Fae. Let's remember also, that she barely had time to readjust before getting into a war. (And if you're gonna throw Elain into the mix, I'm sorry to say but Elain was almost all the time in her tent grieving or being escorted by someone. Until the moment she got kidnapped by Hybern).

Now, all this hate to Nesta for being a bitch or for not helping Feyre, etc...it's really getting tiresome to hear. Like, it doesnt even make sense anymore and I dont want Nesta to apologise for anything. Because I know, deep deep down that if she was a man, she would be immediately forgiven for everything and with all due respect...FUCK THAT.

So I'm sorry for all the underage people that will read ACOSF but the subject of Nesta drinking every night until she passes out and sleeping around to try to forget at least for a minute what she went through that damn war....you wont understand it while you're 15yrs and have never left your house. I will just say that your mindset has not matured yet to cover and understand some type subjects. (You can come at me but it is what it is).

If you're gonna judge her because of her personality, well let me tell you something, NOT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD HAS TO BE NICE FOR FREE.

Nesta doesnt own anything to anyone. Period. And let me tell you something, so far we had only Feyre's POV, we dont know what happened in that damn cottage while Feyre was gone for weeks to hunt. We dont know, what Nesta did to provide for her family until Feyre learnt how to hunt. There's lot of things still that we dont know because everything in the story came from Feyre's POV.

Although if you read between lines in ACOWAR, she did acknowledged, apologised and thanked Feyre for what she did while they were living in the cottage. And so did Elain in ACOMAF. Eveyone is trying to tell her that she needs to accept her new life and move on...well, why no one cant fucking move on from ACOTAR then?

She's not an open person, she wont come to you and tell you how much she loves you because she's not the kind of person who will just give you empty words and because she has been hurt before and doesnt want to get vulnerable again. But she will kill for you for sure and she will die for you as well if she cares for you.

Now, I'm still open minded to what we will get in ACOSF but I'm glad the story will start transitioning from YA to a more adult type. And is just not about the sex scenes but the whole story in general.

i can’t stop thinking about how well you write feyre- you make it clear that she’s enabled harm, but also how young she is. she’s hurt people and rhys has allowed it by creating a world that’s too narrow to allow for growth. but you write her in a way that’s, “i can still grow. i’m not good, but i could be.” because she is the next era for night, and she’s been hit by accountability as hard as her kingdom has, and it’s gold to see. thank you for your writing, the characterization is beautiful 💖

I am so, so ridiculously glad to hear this? Thank you! It is sort of my secret fear that people will read Daylight and think, wow, you hate Feyre. You hate Morrigan.

And that’s just not the point! (and I don’t) you have it so beautifully right- Feyre is hurting and young and wrong. That doesn’t preclude that she has good intentions, she just doesn’t always carry them out correctly.

It all comes from the framework of the sisters- she loves them, she wants them to be happy like she’s happy. Arguably, too exactly, like she is happy.

BUT she doesn’t actually take the time to understand what they individually want. Isn’t at a point yet where Feyre can look back and understand that the way she wants them all paired off and settled in her kingdom is about her, not them. She can’t tolerate it not working (see, banishing Nesta), because this peaceful city, idyllic life buildup in her head is the only thing getting her through. 

She needs peace, but she’s also probably been through so much that the calm hurts, and so she focuses that all outward: little sister meddling amped off the charts. Nesta and Elain were clearly all she had to look up to growing up- Feyre can’t divorce how she imagined them from the reality of their lives. 

But that doesn’t mean they’re going to hate each other forever. They’re family, and that’s complicated on a good day. The potential is there, Feyre has all the time in the world. She’s due it- a chance to grow up.
