#6: Postproduction
So when we did finish filming (which we did all in 2 hours, probably not the best idea), I admittedly wanted to find where I could edit my film, other than having to edit it in windows movie player, and so I chose Adobe Premiere. It was a little bit difficult for me to edit on a new software but it was way more familiar than Sony Vegas because it also was like photoshop but instead of editing pictures, I was editing video.
Draw-backs of Adobe Premiere:
Does not have already edited presents. Which means, I had to make everything manually. I did not have already made title scrolls or blurs. The only thing that was (kind of) useful was the transitions that it came with because I could apply it to anything that I wanted.
My computer really does not like it. It took me forever to edit because my computer was constantly lagging and freezing up. It didn't let me watch the movie from start to finish without lagging the video.
Pros:
Best HD quality. 1080p would've been ideal for my film but a few errors kept it at only 720. I will remember not to change the size of the frame when in the middle of filming.
preset sequences for different cameras. this allowed me to not only have to skip looking up good sequence for my clips but also having to deal with quality and sound. This is a very nice feature for beginners. you can always edit it if you are a pro.
Overall, post-production went smoothly. I procrastinated a lot. And the only error I had was changing the frame size and frames per second.

#5: Shooting 2/2
Last week of shooting and we only really have establishing shots. :p We have most of our cast together we just need to find a place (a house) it film our final scene at and the rest can be done at school which is very useful to us and our cast. We kind of advanced our film by doing those establishing shots because it gets it out of our way... but we also have so many other scenes to film and I think we might have to rush it which is very stressful. Justin has been pretty good at casting and he did most of the writing for the film so I kind of want to be in charge of casting and finding actors because I am kind of a producer in a way. Hopefully by next blog we will have most of our shots done and will have started to edit because I am really excited to editing and bring the story together. We still have our music people who want to help, I need to find music for them to play so that will be in next blog but overall I think we just need to start filming as soon as we can get everyone together so it isn't rushed.

#4: Shooting 1/2
So we did not shoot this week although we wanted to. We didn't have anything to shoot because we were looking for people to cast. We had problems with casting because everyone was really busy with the play and SGA elections which was really annoying. Nobody usually stays after school anyway so it is just very stressful when this is a big project. The good thing is that we have people who will be willing to help us with the music (our awesome music department) which will come in handy when we do start adding music and editing the footage.
Also our movie depends on one character in every scene so it's kind of hard finding someone who will commit so that's one of our biggest problems. Also most of the people who do want to do the film can't make it during 5th so it's just wasted time for us. Another huge problem. :/
So by next time we should have our cast together, at least, and plan when we are suppose to film because we need to plan it so we give ourselves time to edit and produce the music.

#3: Pitch
Our pitching session was pretty good. We did not finish the script but we did have most of the idea down which was good. Our logline was a bit weak "lose your mind" but it's basically all of our film so I guess it wasn't that bad.We had a pretty good summary that I thought would catch anybody's attention and it's a pretty good description of our movie.
Overall, it was pretty good practice for future pitches because I think it went well and next time i'll be more prepared.
By next week we should start finding cast and people to play our roles. I was deciding on whether or not rent a lens but I don't really know our schedule for now so I'm holding back until we begin filming.
Justin did a very good job with the screenplay and it was really nice to see our movie on script because it just makes it so much more real.

#2: Preproduction!!!!
The most exciting yet stressful part of film? Preproduction. This is the part where we start screenplays, story boards, casting, scouting, ect... and it's so stressful. The thing about our film that is kind of annoying but yet exciting is that it's ideas pilled up but we don't have any structure. We come up with ideas on the spot, little bits and pieces of our film, that we want to incorporate but we don't know in which order or how which is stressful for both the screenwriter (justin) and the editor (me) because we have to be on the same page and we don't want to have different events come at different times because then it just causes more problems. So we're working on it. We have planned the opening scene already. What we are stuck on now is things the characters will say. I'm not very good with short stories or writing papers so that is a job for Justin that he can handle. :P
Casting: this has been an issue. We don't have many actresses or actors in our school that have the time to commit to this which annoys me a bit. But we have decided that we will figure that out soon because we really need to start filming when everyone else does.
Overall, good week. Much process done, way more than last post's. Gotta keep moving!!

#1: Planning
When Justin and I first began to draft the plot and story of our film, it was very hard. I am not creative in any sense, which explains the basis of the story. We did, thought, decide that we did not want a cheesy beginning, middle and end. We wanted a good, confusing, mind-blowing, how-am-i-going-to-actually-film-this film. It's hard, you know, trying to come up with ideas that aren't already filmed and trying to be original because there's very good movies out there. And we struggled trying to find our way into the "film world", more like our film studies 5th period, without being similar to others. For the beginning of the planning period, we didn't really have much. We were really, instead, trying to put it off. But when you have an idea and it's a good idea and the other person likes it and is willing to comply and help, it's awesome. Right away we got into planning what we wanted, how we wanted it, how we didn't want it. It was really cool.
