Sideblog for me to store my commentary and creative works related to Steven Universe. Eventually, I'll organize it.
Just as a heads-up, there may be NSFW language.
Rebecca Sugar held a virtual concert fundraiser for The Trevor Project tonight, and at the end announced she is releasing an album Spiral Bound in November. She debuted two songs from the album. Here are the lyrics to one of them, "Anything Can Happen".
Anything can happen, it's up to luck and our imagination
Anything can happen, let's jump the track and guess our destination
And I like to be prepared and when I can't be, I am scared but you make me sure
Anything can happen, anything can happen
Anything can happen
Anything can happen (x4)
Well I like to be prepared and after everything we shared, you make me sure
You make me sure
You make me sure
Rebecca’s set list for tonight’s Instagram concert
There were a few segments. She had several encores in the third segment, and was accompanied on a number of songs by Ben Levin. I don’t know if it will be available at all for later viewing, but if it is, I highly encourage it, as they spent quite a lot of time talking about their experience as a bi and non-binary person, as well as stories behind the songs. Donations to the Trevor Project are still open. Rebecca was blown away by the donations received throughout the concert, but more is always better.

She was a little sad that she hadn’t practiced “It’s Only Magic” as Ian Jones-Quartey (behind the camera) noted a number of people in the stream comments requesting it.

Animation I’ve been working on-and-off for the past year-and-a-half. A segment of Pearl’s song from the Steven Universe episode “Mr. Greg”, reanimated in the style of the pilot.
Woulda been great to have this done for when Steven Universe Future ended but what can ya do.
Animation by me. Backgrounds by Joe Sparrow (@joe-sparrow, twitter, instagram).
I'm just wondering, do you have a masterlist of all the posts with a "and that's why they're a hero" or variants on it? I think it'd be great to have all of those gathered in one place (or one tag).
Well, what better place to gather these all in one place than right here? I don’t have a masterlist, but I do have a big ole doc with all my posts to make it easy to compile all the variants of the phrase. Here they are, in order of episode airing:
Pearl (Coach Steven)
Garnet (The Return)
Lapis Lazuli (Chille Tid)
Peridot (When It Rains)
Steven (Steven vs. Amethyst)
Greg (Gemcation)
Rose Quartz (Now We’re Only Falling Apart)
Amethyst (What’s Your Problem?)
Rebecca Sugar (Reunited)
Bismuth (Steven Universe: The Movie)
Spinel (Villain Variant, Steven Universe: The Movie)
...yep, that’s every hero accounted for! Not one more major character to write about!
I KNEW I FFUC I KNEW IT, GUYS!! LOOK AT HER! THE JOY! THE KISSES GAVE HER THE STRENGTH AND COURAGE TO WEAR STIRRUP LEGGINGS AND SHOW EMOTION IN PUBLIC.
to all my diamond stans: rebecca shared that there’s gonna be a heck ton of diamond art in the last art book because they were all too spoilerly to include in the other art books. get ready!!!!!
Everything below are notes that @gracekraft took from the Rebecca and Kat Steven Universe Zoom Meeting. I did the basic transcription. Grace was kind enough to elaborate on them as well as help me clean them up.

Rebecca showed some SU Movie sketches in a 9x12 Quattro Sketchbook
Rebecca and Kat talk about their shared problem they’ve had with sketchbooks, where they struggle to draw and finish them because it’s too much pressure. Used to draw more on loose leaf paper.
There’s some more Takafumi Hori art in “End of an Era”
Are songs in SU rooted in experience or imagination?
Usually they start with the situation/purpose of the song in the episode, then mine into feelings and tap into personal and related feelings and bring them into the song and tie into that join the function and meaning of the song.
