It is not 100% foolproof. Their job is to direct you to a program they believe will help your current issue, but it's still a step up from praying random strangers online will give you enough cash before a deadline! The added benefit of these community programs, which get funded by the local government most of the time, is if there are more people using them then they can get more money to help more people.

You're not taking resources from other people if you use your community services. Your taxes pay for them. Use them.

Hello, I have been in the process of diagnosing my chronic fatigue. A few months ago I was put on new medications to try to see if they will effectively combat my symptoms and now that some time has passed, my doctor wants to do some blood work to check to see if the medications are making an impact beyond what's observable to me, which has been slightly positive. I also have an appointment scheduled with this doctor and a different out-of-network doctor. Unfortunately, neither of these doctors qualify under a discounted copay bc that's not how my insurance processes Telehealth and doctors out of network and are usually $150-200 each. In addition, I have several medications I need to refill, groceries, and an existing rent hike which is financially strenuous for me. I believe I will need around $800 in assistance this month. If you are in the US and are having trouble playing for internet or phone bills I highly reccomend looking into this! If you are on SNAP, medicaid, SSI, WIC, live on Tribal lands etc. you will probably be eligible. The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

I just used it to lower my Verizon bill and it was super easy. Google your internet or cell provider and "ACP" find out how to have it applied to your account.

This a Master post of different Native American reservations and peoples needing assistance this winter due to weather emergencies, my links are from the Minnesota Public Radio News, especially a reporter and digital producer for the outlet, Sam Strooza.

The MPR News article about thousands being trapped on Pine Ridge Reservation and ways to help get people winter clothing and firewood. Condition right now are dire with reports of people trapped in their homes and needing to burn clothes for heat.

Friends of Pine Ridge is doing a drive of both quilt/blankets/comforters and also heaters, they have links to stores where you can buy blankets that will give them to the reservation and links where you can donate money to help people buy propane, fire wood or other immediate needs

Friend of Pine Ridge works very closely and supports First Families Now that works to support children, elders and families on the Pine Ridge Reservation and you can donate directly to them below

One Spirit Lakota does a lot of work supporting the citizens on Pine Ridge Reservation and supporting the Lakota people in both firewood supplies for the winter and supporting in the youth in the Allen community around the reservation and more.

Any donation right now will be used for emergency services and supplies such as firewood, and food and other things for supporting people in need.

Sićangu Co typically works to provide housing, food, education, health and addressing systematic issues regarding those concerns but given the twenty feet piles of snow and emergency situation their donations right now are shifted to meet current need of clearing the snow, filing and distribution of drinking water, and donations will also be used to feed their personnel including snow plow drivers, delivery drivers, other volunteers as well as those in need.

my birthday is coming up! end of august, can't believe how old im getting. i have an amazon wishlist with things we need to get our house in better order, keeping it clean and tidy for my health.

i have an immune disorder that usually kicks my ass in the form of allergic reactions to some common environmental stuff. i still can't go out much because covid is such a big risk to my health. it treated me bad last time... im in dire need of new furniture, because most of our furniture is salvage picked up before my allergies were a concern.

during the pandemic i moved into my gfs's place, a property that was extensively neglected by her landlord for years... broken windows and all. so there's the matter of the bugs, which we have been trying to eliminate since we moved because as i am very allergic to them. i don't think they're going away until we get rid of most of the furniture.

ive been in contact with a furniture bank for a year, and they haven't made any progress on my approval. im planning to get most of what i need through thrifting, but it's going to take me a while to build up the funds for renting a u-haul and buying furniture. especially because we're saving to get a car, having transportation is pretty integral to us getting and my gf commutes.

if you sit wrong on one of the couches you can fall through it, and our dining table broke in the move so it has a distinct slope downward... i lost a whole mess of eggs putting them down in the wrong spot. i just wanted to make breakfast! and i would love to be able to host, i work from home and ive been a bit isolated because im a bit embarrassed by the state of things.

most important thing i need is is a bed frame, so i can buy the mattress ive picked out. i sleep on a suspect mattress (at least i know who it came from, small blessings), on top of a highly suspect box spring. ive been having a lot of allergic reactions at night. i usually don't get the most rest because of it, and just want to start getting good rest without any hives being involved.

ok ive said it before but i really really recommend to every american possible that you try to get on medicaid if youre below the poverty line. i see people on here all the time with donation posts whos lives could absolutely be changed by medicaid.

you might have to jump through a few hoops to make sure you have all the right documents but you can even get it while homeless. pretty much the only requirement is that youre below the poverty line.

you can apply with or without disability plus there's a good number of medicaid providers out there that will even cover trans expenses.

its absolutely worth applying and if you qualify theres a ton of other benefits you can get on top of that like foodstamps and free cellphone service. just find out where your local assistance office is and ask them what they can do to help you it will change your life

Hey everyone, due to my abusive household and molester evil father, i need to move out as soon as possible, im trying to get a second job currently something hopefully with tips (serving/bartender jobs) or just higher paying in general. i currently only make $560 a month (which seems like a lot but my area is expensive, i’m being paid less than minimum wage without any healthcare so it comes out of pocket for me) and won’t be able to save enough for a down payment to get in, after that i’m sure i’ll have enough to cover rent if i find another job.

With unexpected bills and such, i hardly have enough to eat after the first week since i’m not allowed to eat at home anymore.

Idk what to do. Idk how to even survive another week, I need just like $200 to hold me over.
