we aren’t friends anymore and we haven’t been for quite some time. i go out of my way to not be near you and we avoid eye contact when in each other presence. i don’t know anything about your life anymore, and you don’t know mine. but your mom saw me and asked how i was.we were in a group together and you laughed at my joke under your breath. that night you called my sibling to make sure i got home safe. i still think about you on your birthday. i think i will always love you.

Calling Gen X:

Today on Netflix they released a new documentary about the making of “We are the World,” the music video and single for USA For Africa in late 1984, nearly 40 years ago.

The biggest LEGENDS at the time including the late Michael Jackson and Tina Turner, Lionel Ritchie, Bruce Springsteen and so many more, got together the night of the 1984 American Music Awards to record the hit single to raise money for hunger in Ethiopia.

This documentary hurdled in so many emotions from seeing all these amazing singers come together at such quick notice to record this emotional single that continues to raise money for their cause. It still remains a favorite song of mine.

Music has transformed so much since then as we are getting to the age where our legends are leaving us or getting up there in age. Our class and all of Gen X were so lucky to have been raised in the 80s where one of a kind singers, tv shows and movies entertained us for all of these years.

If you have Netflix, I recommend this new documentary and be swept back to the best years of our lives. Enjoy, if you do.
