“You never know which keywords will trigger a positive response. It’s kind of like buying a lottery ticket. If this sounds far-fetched, consider that according to the Solman Scale, there are over 19 million Americans looking for jobs — that includes the officially unemployed, involuntary part-time workers and anyone who says they want a job, no matter how long it’s been since they last looked. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are around 5.6 million open jobs. Meanwhile, HR claims there’s a talent shortage — that there’s not enough people to hire. Even if you allow for a certain number of lazy, uneducated, unskilled, unmotivated people (and I don’t think there are really that many), there are still plenty more talented people to choose from than there are jobs. There are loads of people who are smart, motivated, willing and able to learn new things quickly, ready to get to work. Employers just need to consider letting the talent reveal itself on the job — by offering some training (often, just a smidgen is necessary) or a short learning curve. But employers seem to want perfect candidates. People whose keywords match 100 percent of a job’s keywords — even when nobody in the company knows how to describe a job with keywords. It’s really a mess — and it’s indefensible and unforgiveable.”

I need to be less hesitant about my decisions and about life in general because like, unironically, yolo. Life is short and meaningless so fuck it, I’m gonna do what I want and I shouldn’t feel guilty about it.

Baby and Parent Multiplayer
So right now I’m working on developing a game for parents with toddlers. But so far my attempts at making a game where gameplay is harmonious has been tricky. I want the baby to be able to bash the keyboard while the parent plays the actual true game with the mouse. But playtesting it with my baby all I’ve learned is that she often will still whine for the mouse too 🙈 I’m determined to make this work so I will press on!

I’m back! Good to see you all still here. Tumblr emailed me and said I haven’t been on forever and they’re right! I figured I’d pop back in now and again to share my thoughts. :)

I haven't been on tumblr for a long time and finally saw this post. I still enjoy games and play them for fun. I will always be a gamer regardless of whether others think I'm real or not. I'm a political person and my beliefs and feelings will always be with me wherever I go, whatever I'm doing.
Ps: I f*cking love that overweight Italian plumber. Also, I'm glad you aren't worried about needing to relate to your protagonists, that makes having more lady protagonists easier 😋
Feminist Gamer and Eternal Sheeple
I feel like I’ve walked my way into another cliché caricature.
I used to listen to punk music and dyed my hair black to look like Brody Dalle but it was the same time as “Emo kid” was a huge thing and I’ll be honest, I looked just like them.
Then I chilled out, got older and attended an artsy high school. In my attempts to dawn the “director look” (I was aspiring to be a director then) my wardrobe added scarves and I started putting my hair into a long side braid. I didn’t realize it at the time but I was slowly morphing into a “Hipster”. I never donned a top-knot or anything but isn’t that kind of just hipster of me to say that? Too cool for a top-knot? I don’t know man…
Now I seemed to have waltzed my way into a new label: “SJW”
It’s kind of funny because I used to be quite closed minded. I used to use the word feminazi, I used to be transphobic, biohobic, homophobic… I’ve even asked someone “What kind of brown are you?” It’s literally the most racist thing I’ve ever said and I regret it like crazy.
Slowly I’ve learned and grown from my experiences and from people that I’ve met. A friend yelled at me when I thought bi people didn’t exist, I watched a ton of videos about Jazz and trans kids, I’ve made a ton of LGBTQA friends over time.
Then there was this kind of explosion of feminism and body positive messages, education about rape culture and finally, sometime in the last year or two, I’ve come to identify as feminist.
I never thought the term “sjw” applied to me. I thought it was for trolls mostly. But #gamergate has effectively labelled anyone who still feels there could be improvement in games as an “sjw’.
As a gamer this really hurts.
It feels like I’ve been rejected from yet another friend group. They’ve told me that I’m not like them, that I’m not a “gamer” I’m just an “sjw”.
I guess this is kind of trend for me. Accidentally walking my way into stereotypes. This Tumblr kind of isn’t helping my cause hahaha. Oh well :P #Sheepleforlife
