Seconding the Dresden Files.  I started from the beginning, and I think the books getting better over time helped draw me in.  I would recommend doing that, and if you find yourself not enjoying the first bit then I would try skipping ahead to Summer Knight.

The Iron Druid Chronicles were also pretty good, though it’s been a while since I read them.

Hey, so I'm looking for urban fantasy literature. Any suggestions? Also you mentioned the best order for that Dresden Files thing but tumblr search is shit so what was it again?

You can approach Dresden Files two ways:

1.  From the start, in order, and accept the first two books are subpar, the third book is okay and the series only really picks up in book four, Summer Knight.  

2.  Start from Summer Knight and go until Dead Beat to get a solid grasp of how good the series is, then go back and go through Storm Front, Fool Moon and Grave Peril, because then you’ll be tempered against how mediocre they are.
