wc: 21K “Get the fuck down here,” Bakugou snaps, leaping effortlessly over a huge fence, chasing you down an alley. It’s early morning, maybe an hour before sunrise, and a slight summer drizzle is falling, not quite hard enough for him to slow down, but it worsens visibility, especially trying to find someone dressed in all black in the maze of his city.
“Get the fuck down here,” Bakugou snaps, leaping effortlessly over a huge fence, chasing you down an alley. It’s early morning, maybe an hour before sunrise, and a slight summer drizzle is falling, not quite hard enough for him to slow down, but it worsens visibility, especially trying to find someone dressed in all black in the maze of his city.
“Great idea,” he hears you call, you must be far ahead of him, and fuck you, not even out of breath. “I’ll just slow down, so you can catch me.” He senses some movement as he passes a dumpster and freezes, turning around slowly. He moves as quietly as possible, leaning slowly over to inspect the cavity between the dumpster and the brick wall, peering into the darkness. You wait until he’s bent at the perfect angle and drop from the sky, landing with maximum force on his back, hoping to knock him to the ground to buy yourself enough time to escape. But with a loud grunt, he only squats a little lower, standing up to get you off of him as you tighten your hold around his neck, cutting off his windpipe.
“What,” He gasps, ‘What did you take from that building?”
“God I wish I could tell you, Bakugou Katsuki.” He gasps for air.
“Who are you?” He chokes out, “Who-” You close the vice of your elbows.
“Your quirk’s not very good for close combat like this,” you muse, lips brushing his ear in a way that brings a shameful warmth to his cheeks, as you slip something in his pocket, so lightly he doesn’t even notice. Good. “Go to sleep, okay, I’ll be gone when you wake up.” He starts to lose consciousness, but knows he has time for one last sentence.
“Don’t need.” He wheezes, “My quirk. To beat you.” He runs backwards, slamming his back into the wall of the alley, your body cushioning the blow. You must hit your head because your grip on him immediately softens and he whirls around, taking your wrists and pinning them over your head with one hand, holding you upright against the wall. “I’ll ask again,” he leans in, “What the hell did you take from the commission?” You laugh lightly, your pupils opium blown and unfocused, but he catches a flash of recognition for a moment before you relax, leaning against the wall.
“I don’t know” You look, almost sad, and he furrows his brow. “I’m sorry, I don’t know.” You stare out into the night, and he follows your gaze for a second before giving his attention back to you, noticing now, just how close he was to you, close enough so that he can feel your breath when you speak again, “This is not how I hoped we’d meet,” You mumble, he almost doesn’t hear it. He leans in closer, inspecting you, reaching over to peel the mask that covers your eyes off of your face. You take advantage of his pause, kneeing him as hard as you can between the legs and leaping away from him, into the night. By the time his vision clears, and he’s no longer nauseated from the pain, you’re long gone, not even a footprint in the alley, just a little blood on the wall. He lets out a stream of expletives, the rain coming down heavier now, as if the weather itself were conspiring against him.
