Note: I think David Schwimmer is an excellent actor. I just do not like his character.

2. Was uncomfortable with his son playing with a barbie.

5. Tried to kiss his cousin. 

6. Tried to convince his sister to buy more girl scout cookies so that he could ease his conscience despite the fact that she used to struggle with overeating. 

7. Joined a hate club made for his crush because she didn’t like him back. 

8. Was extremely territorial and possessive of his  girlfriend to the point that he was willing to jeopardise her job. 

9. Lied to his wife about getting an annulment because he didn’t want to be the guy that had been through 3 divorces.

10. When he spent a whole episode trying to startle and attack his ex-wife and her friend to prove they couldn’t defend themselves.

okay so I just finished watching the RWRB movie and have three (spoiler-free) things to say:

If anyone slanders the actors or actresses in this, I will riot. They nailed their perfomances. They brought the book characters to life just like I imagined them.

We would have needed a series, and I will still hope for one. Shadowhunters got movies and a series too, so I will continue being super delusional about its possibility.

If I see anyone badmouth this movie, I am literally gonna find your adress and give you a lengthy explanation why we, as the queer community, need soft and comforting and maybe idealistic romcoms too. Movies that are not perfect, but real. Because that's what it was. So real, and so beautiful, and so so queer.

ok, i have to say this before i say anything else about the rwrb movie:

when the book came out, it was groundbreaking. it was one of the first true queer rom coms. this movie is now even more groundbreaking.

yes, some depth and detail was lost from the book, but that’s bound to happen in any adaptation. but before we complain about that, let’s ask ourselves:

exactly how many fluffy, fairy tale, sexy, funny, sugary, queer romance movies are there? you could probably count them all on one hand, and most of them probably aren’t major studio releases.

queer people deserve silly romcom movies too. queer people deserve to see themselves in tender, uncensored intimate moments on screen too. and, correct me if i’m wrong, but i’m pretty sure this is the first time a major motion picture has explicitly mentioned truvada/PrEP and included a conversation between a parent and child about safe queer sex. like…queer people don’t get shit like this, and now we do. and that’s a big deal.

Not to be a hater but I think it’s really silly so many people are borderline refusing to acknowledge that red white and blue might be a great movie.

a) you don’t have enough footage to claim the cast isn’t suited to the characters and b) surely you’re old enough to realise books cannot be perfectly adapted into movies? Some details NEED to be left out for the sake of keeping it at a decent length.

Self-proclaimed film critics (esp on tiktok) are dismissing the hard work of cast and crew with 0 basis, and at the end of the day, dismissing a piece of queer media when we really need more.
