back at it with another ishimondo au. ballet dancer!ishimaru and mondo is a low rise criminal, force to serve community service and joins ishimarus dance class of children to help the kids out as his second in command but mondo dont dance and hes not wearing tights :/ ishimaru convinces him he would attract the attention of many females who like men in these types of wear but mondos like “pfft ok sure” but later sees ishimaru being talked to by all the girls and now he angry and says he’ll do it. ishimaru teaches mondo how to dance and be gentle and mondo teaches ishimaru how to live a little.

Also not understanding that without Ishida Ishimaru would have literally starved himself to death as he was ACTIVELY TRYING TO DO after Mondo’s death. A VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC THAT I TOO WOULD LIKE TO ADD AS THE UNDERTERMINED ISHIDA KING. ive been in this fandom since the very very beginning when we had to read on somethingawful and get through paywalls just to read the translation of the games. ishida is a very important character to me, it really makes me sad when people say that kodaka just cop’d out with his character and with ishimaru’s.

i think i already wrote like 3 character development sheets on ishida but it is important to note that ishida is the reason ishimaru lived and died. i know alot of people say that the DR kids would have helped him get better but the painful truth was, they wouldn’t. and the one person who did try to console him, hakagure, only did it for a sentence and it was done. he no longer had anything to do with ishimaru. naegi of course was the main character, but even he said that there was no helping him. and if they would have gotten their memories back? maybe but just imagine how much more painful that would be for ishimaru? to re-call how actually close him and mondo were, maybe, just maybe, he would have gotten better but even that is questionable because he would still have very traumatic PTSD of the whole thing. because thats just who ishimaru is, a passionate, loving, caring man who just wanted to have friends and save his family name from the dirt his grandfather had kicked on it. 

ishimaru wanted and was actively trying to kill himself. he didnt eat, barely slept if slept at all and wondered around soulless and empty because once again ishimaru was alone. the only person who understood him, his struggles and beliefs, his worries and fears, only one man who he put his entire trust in in a game where students were killing eachother. for once ishimaru let his guard down and let in someone who he thought he would hate, made a bond and in the end became blood brothers. not of family, but of same spirit and heart. and when mondo killed chihiro, was found guilty that was the end of ishimaru. if people dont remember he literally was about to sacrifice his life and the life of the rest of the class just because he wanted mondo to live. even knowing mondo was guilty after he admitted it, he didnt and wouldnt believe it. he would DIE for mondo, above his father, classmates, his own title of morals and justice he would have done it for mondo in a heartbeat and it crushed him because he couldnt save the one person who saved him from his lonely, boring life. 

and even though they were all friends pre-despair mondo was the only constant even then. mondo had to literally force people to come to ishimarus parties, mondo is the only one ishimaru calls when hes on summer vacation, its mondo and always has been mondo. and when they found A.I.? after ishimaru was literally waiting on his deathbed that-- that was his LIFE. thats what he was waiting for, ishida was mondo and ishimarus will to SURVIVE. ishida even says that “he’ll live for both mondo and ishimaru, he’ll carry on their spirits and he’ll get out of there with the both of them.” without ishida, ishimaru would have inevitably killed himself because without his HOPE there was nothing left for him when the only one he trusted, betrayed his trust. a good man like mondo, doing a bad thing, yet they both were the same in so many ways. it was like ishimarus soul was gone when that happened and that soul that disappeared re-appeared as mondo.

ishimaru was already DEAD before ishida came along. thats why when you talk to ishida and call him ishimaru he asks “Who is that? Who is Ishimaru? It’s only me, Ishida!” ishida is protecting ishimaru by erasing the bad memories to carry on good memories and free him of his pain. ishida took on that pain that ishimaru was suffering with, he needed to find a way out, he would live for them, both mondo and ishimaru but in the end ishida knew they wouldnt make it out. whenever you tried to talk with ishida he would say that it was their faults, everyone of his classmates had a hand in mondos death. he no longer trusted any of his classmates because in his mind, it was them who killed mondo with their own hands. 

so why? why did he go to that meeting place with the note? because ishida wanted to DIE. after losing himself, his real self, after losing his friend, he knew A.I. wasn’t really mondo, so why would he go meet with the students he so hated? its clear this was ishidas way of getting ishimaru out without doing the deed themselves. the sad truth is, ishida and ishimaru always knew that they wouldnt make it out, it was his despair of being alone and knowing if mondo couldnt be strong enough, the quote on quote, “strongest man he knows” couldnt even escape despair then what chance did he have? yes, ishida is what caused his death but ishida is what kept him living for a little bit longer as well and its really important to note that his story wasnt a cop out, it was how ishimaru, after being mentally thrown into turmoil watching his best friend, his blood brother die, reacted. it broke him. leaving nothing but a soulless husk of the man ishimaru use to be. because everything he believed in, no longer exists in a world like this.

its also super important to remember that kodaka never wanted to kill off ishimaru. in fact, in interviews he was quite upset he had to get rid of him and even stated if he could he would re-write the entire game and change who lived and died. but the way the story was written ishimaru would have never survived to begin with and kodaka knew that. ishimaru is kodaka’s favorite character and he did have the most development. the workers when given the direction for ishimaru fell in love with him right away and thats why he has so many icons, one of the most with the most expressions because they had such fun with him. they wanted to see how many images of his face they could make. ishimaru was the golden child, and although he was done dirty in the end not surviving because we all wanted a good, wholesome boy like that to survive there was no way he would. everything that gave him hope was DEAD. besides his father, who he wasnt even sure if he was alive or not in this world, it was mondo and that was it. ishida was an important creation in ishimarus life and death. ishida was the last of ishimarus fierce, fighting spirit that YEARNED for freedom, only to be shut down again and again. ishida was unstable, but it was a representation of the inner turmoil that ishimaru was facing since mondos death. it was his only way to cope.

this is in no way to disagree with anyone elses headcanons, or ideas or how it should have ended cause believe me if anyone wanted ishimaru AND mondo to live more than anything on this planet its me. and i so want kodaka to re-write it and give him more of a respectable end or at least to be alive but based off canon evidence and facts, this is my opinon on ishidas character and how ishida was a determining factor in trying to keep ishimaru alive, but failed. just as he did with everything else it was a bitter, sad ending with no remorse for ishimaru because that was the despair. no justice in the end for Ishimaru Kiyotaka.

I LOVE THIS OK LISTEN-- blind teacher! ishimaru teaching a class and hes being really serious about his favorite subject and history in time and while hes teaching some kids try to pull a prank on him and set up something for him to trip on while hes walking around but ishimaru aint the new kid on the block and as soon as he feels anything remotely close to tripping him he slams his foot down, kicks it up in the air and catches it. turning to the class and calling out the perps because he knows exactly who would try to pull such a thing without even seeing.
