Thinking about how in the Chrissy Lives alternate ST universe, when she starts to acknowledge her feelings for Eddie, she would seek out Nancy. It would probably be their first conversation that doesn’t take place in the Upside Down or in the middle of a moment when their lives are in immediate danger. She would ask Nancy about how others reacted when she dumped Steve and started publicly dating Jonathan Byers. How hurt she was when certain friends dropped her. How she dealt with the weirdness at school. And Nancy’s earnest insistence that all that high school bullshit matters so much less than the feeling you get when you are start being truly honest about who you are and what you want gives Chrissy the confidence to say fuck it and stride up to Eddie in the cafeteria wearing her cheer uniform, him surrounded by his D&D pals, and kiss him in front of everyone. He is so stunned at first that he freezes with his eyes wide open but when she threads her fingers through his hair, he basically loses his mind and ends up wrapping his arms around her waist and lifting her off her feet. They’re so caught up in their little love bubble they just end up giggling with one another between more kisses, oblivious to everyone being insane around them.

Dustin’s enthusiastic shrieking is the loudest of all the reactions.

ok but there’s something about like… yeah we all agree chrissy’s kind of repressed and eddie would expand her horizons and help her break out of her mold or whatever. but i think eddie’s repressed too, in his own way. more self-enforced. like i can totally see him being like “chrissy, no fucking way am i putting on rollerskates and making a fool of myself spinning around with a bunch of united colors of beneton looking fucks!” but then she hits him with the big eyes and he begrudgingly does it and oh wait this is actually kinda fun. same goes for like… discovering some kind of wonderful really speaks to him or listening to the carpenters is soothing for some reason. he’d help her grow beyond the expectations of her peers and she’d help him grow beyond the limits he puts on himself.
