When you suddenly start seeing people claim that Keanu Reeves has problematic personal politics not on a standalone post where it could presumably get reblogged easier and raise more awareness, but only in replies to posts from people excited that he's gonna voice Shadow the Hedgehog in the third Sonic movie.

Forgive me for being skeptical of the validity of your claims as well as your motives for sharing them in the way you are.

there is an insane amount of antisemitism floating around right now.
i just want to say:
this blog loves and supports jewish people.
this blog does NOT conflate the israeli government, or the atrocities it commits, with jewish people.
this blog is disgusted with those who use or express antisemitism.
this blog knows that if someone needs to invoke antisemitism, they do not actually care about helping palestine or the palestinian people.
this blog will do its best to insure that it remains a safe space for all.

looking at (vetted) gofundmes for people trying to escape palestine and i don't know how many of you actually click on the gofundme links you reblog but i would like to point out, for what it's worth, just how amazing it is that so many have raised so much money. it may overall feel like a drop in the ocean but the fact that several gofundmes have raised tens of thousands of dollars is amazing. it is so expensive to leave gaza right now, and people still need money after they escape. but regardless of what propaganda the US, UK, canada, and other western nations are trying to pump out, people across the world are doing what they can to help these people survive. many of them are still very far from their goals (like this one and this one and this one) and some of them are very close to high goals (like this one), and some of them have reached almost double their original goal.
and that's not even addressing direct aid or organizations that take continuous donations for distribution of food, menstrual products, etc. the PCRF has raised $16,000,000 of their target goal of $20,000,000 to fund current aid and long-term relief efforts in gaza. ANERA's febuary 13th update discusses the material ways they helped palestinians today:

my point is, it often feels like the world is turning a blind eye to palestine. but i would like to point out that there is an important difference between "the world" and "western political leaders and media narratives". a breathtaking amount of real people, the people who make up the world, are trying to help. in the face of israel attempting to commit genocide, the world is saying No. These people deserve to live. and literally sending millions of dollars internationally, through the internet connection that israel has desperately been trying to destroy.
it may not feel like it matters in the grand scheme of things. but to the people who get fresh clothes, or a hot meal, or blankets, or the kids who get new toys, or to the people who are able to bring their families to safety, it matters to them. go make someone's day better. i've linked so many options with ways to do that.

Honestly at this point I'm just waiting for "We deserve to suffer under bad domestic policy if we make others suffer bad foreign policy" to become a political stance people legitimately argue for this election season to justify not voting because of stuff like this.
(Note: That is a terrible argument to make, just in case it needs to be said)
Tumblr media
cannot stress enough how insane it's making me that we're witnessing some of the best domestic policy in decades at the same time as the worst foreign policy atrocity since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

happy hanukkah to those celebrating but particularly to those struggling to celebrate bc of what is being done in their name. u don't have to answer for it but i know it can be hard to reconcile sadness and community, and u r not alone in this. in better times all our celebrations will be unmarred.

A poem that came to me after hearing that Christian leaders in the Holy Land have asked churches not to organize any "unnecessarily festive" activities, in solidarity with Gaza; as well as seeing the Nativity scene set among rubble in the Lutheran Church of Bethlehem this year.
Image descriptions are in the alt text; the full poem text as well as sources for the artworks are below the readmore.
This year, Mary is just one of many Palestinians failing to find a safe place to give birth.
This year, Jesus is just one of many born into rubble.
This year, the newborn Christ
dies
his little body bombed and tossed aside into the growing pile.
This time, Jesus never makes it to adulthood — doesn’t even make it the eight days to circumcision. He doesn’t die a grown man making a conscious choice to defy Empire armed with naught but dreams
of a world where all the nations live as one where last are first  and all wars done —
No. This year, his newborn life is threat enough — his family’s mere existence is rebellion enough  — to warrant eradication.
Actually, it was then, too, two thousand years ago — for Empire always fears the ones it grinds beneath its millstone — back then, though Christ’s parents found safe passage into Egypt —
now, snipers shoot them as they try to leave the hospital that scarce had room for one more woman’s labor cries.
Stigmata are that much more chilling between an infant’s eyes.
And now, as then, some may blame Jesus’s death on his own Jewish people — but resist this lie! Now as then the crime is Empire’s
and those of us who would cast stones should ponder first what our nations gain from genocide.
And, God, if there is any hope at all to wrestle from the rubble
as churches all across the Holy Land close their doors to Christmas joy this year — a holy choice to mourn with those who mourn as Christ’s homeland is made a massive grave —
it’s this: there are still children left to save.
It’s this: not every olive branch has burned.
It’s this: the sacred promise of a God who dies whenever Empire’s outcasts die — that those cast down
will rise.
Palestine, Palestine! I swear we will not cease to shout your name until, at last, your streets sing with your children’s laughter, loud and free.
- Avery Arden
Art Sources
The detail of the Lutheran Church of Bethlehem's nativity comes from Munther Isaac's Facebook page, here.
Image of the Pieta Mary formed from Jerusalem's buildings is by Mohammad Sabaaneh, here.
Painting of a mother clutching her child on the road to Egypt is by Sliman Mansour, here.
The Holy Family painting is also by Sliman Mansour, here.
The final painting is “God’s Holy Mountain” by Oscar (Asher) Frohlich, who explains it thus:
"It is a normal future day on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Jews, Muslims and Christians, entering through the Gate of Mercy, are waiting for services to begin, respectively, at the Temple, at the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque, and at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Friends of all three religions and from around the world greet each other, and some gather around an informal group of musicians from the three faiths who are playing together.  The Temple Mount has shed the remnants of destruction and conflict left by the Roman Empire and is once again a joyous place, in which all worship in their respective holy buildings, but bearing witness to the same One God, creator of all."

Something interesting about Final Horizon
All of Sonic's friends nearly collapse upon interacting with the cyber-corruption once, even Knuckles. Really shows how much pain Sonic had to endure during Frontiers, and makes you wonder if he's used to smiling through intense pain.

The vexing thing about the new Sonic Frontiers DLC is that it is really fun running around as Sonic's friends once you figure out all the new gameplay and mechanics and stuff... but the game just doesn't do a great job of explaining any of it. I was able to figure it out myself after about 15 minutes of bumbling around blindly, but I know it's gonna take most people a lot longer, and it's probably gonna get dunked on a lot as a result.
... Also, Sega heard everyone complaining that the base game was too easy and they took that personally, holy fark.

Mario and Laurie Strode have had enough of all this hanky-panky going on in Baldur’s Gate.
"I'm going to play Dark Urge, I'm going to play a Drow, I'm going to play a Half Elf Cleric of Selune-" No. I grow tired of filling Faerun with hotties and encouraging my party's fatherless behavior.
To remedy this I have made Your Dad, the ultimate 1:1 replica of the average New Jersey father to save the realm and put a stop to my party's sad, horny business.
