What are your daily habits?

I look forward to doing several things a day. Doing things every day gives me experience to figure problems out more easily, and feel like I’m really involved in my life. It’s be easy to say that I have one favorite thing to do every day, but I really look forward to doing most things that I spend time on.

One thing that I do every day is take care of my diabetes. My diabetes is very important to me, and I put what my blood sugars are, what I’ve eaten, and when I ate it into my iPad every day. I also take time for myself, because stress can lead to ups and downs in blood sugar.

I take two pills every night. Being mindful of what’s happening in my day, keeping track of where my head is going, and taking time for myself also come with that. My schizophrenia is on my mind a lot, and I’m great full that I have pills to help me in my fight.

I also drink coffee every day. Coffee gives me an escape, and it’s not like there aren’t a few trade offs getting coffee in the morning. I can more easily be drawn into having hallucinations and delusions. It’s something I get off to, and I’m happy to have coffee take the edge off every morning.

Getting on my iPad is another thing that I can say is a daily habit. I spend two or three hours on my iPad daily. This technology is something that I can get involved in on the couch or while sitting at my desk, and it really fills out my day to get online and spend some time on the internet.

I also spend twenty minutes watering my garden daily. I’m so grateful that I did when I bite into a jalapeño or cucumber at lunch. I motivate myself daily to do it, and it pays off almost immediately.

I’m grateful to be able to do the things I do every day. The feeling I get from typing on my iPad to put another entry into my journal is extraordinary. It gives me great joy to share this with you.

I went to Chrystal Bridges Art Museum the other day with my mental health group. It was a lot of fun. I got an origami bugs book, and have been trying to make origami bugs for the past couple days.

So far I’ve been able to do a caterpillar. I didn’t understand how to do the head, so I just made it up. There are twenty bugs to do in all, so there’s got to be one I can do fully.

One thing the book explains that I didn’t understand is how to do a squash fold. If anyone sees this and can explain to me how to do a squash fold please do. I’ll try to do some more this week and post something up about my progress.
