Hello friends & beautiful members! Happy Pisces season! We're sure some of you have sensed this coming but after a lot of discussion, we've decided that closing Silver Linings is the best decision we could make at this time. We all love our characters and yours but quite simply, we no longer have as much time to be intentional admins as we'd like to be. Life has gotten busy for all of us and demands so much attention that being online and present isn't something we can do consistently. As opposed to trying to post it or falling behind, closing is our best option. We're so grateful for all of you who have been with us on this journey, especially from the beginning. Know we're always around on discord or otherwise. You might see is floating around the indie or 1x1 world and we're truly wishing you all the best!! Deadass, stay safe and please take care of yourselves.

Valentine’s Day Event
Love is in the air in Amory and almost every storefront is sporting cutout hearts, sales or plans for Valentine’s Day. Some folks are hosting Palentine’s Day parties or Anti-Valentine’s day gatherings. The Amory Town committee has always believed in relying on the local community businesses and individuals to carry out holiday traditions and celebrations. This year, the committee is happy to announce three wonderful, exciting and very filling events:
Bar & Food Crawl
Local Bars and Restaurants are all participating in the Valentine’s Day Bar & Food Crawl. Not interested in getting caught up in all the sappiness of love? Or just looking for a fun activity to do with a loved on? Join the crawl, starting at the very tip of Amory Manor and ending at the train station parking lot in Amory Village for a food truck gathering for the town to enjoy.
Pay It Forward
Whether you’re pro or anti, there is no denying that there is sweetness in doing something caring or loving for another person. With this in mind, each coffee shop in Amory, including bakeries like Sweet Strip and The Break Box are offering Pay It Forward deals and opportunities. Customers are encouraged to pay for other folks orders or coffees or even just giving an extra tip to the workers behind the counter. At the end of the weekend, Mayor Morales will be announcing just how much money was paid forward and how many folks participated. It’s said that there are some fairly wealthy donors willing to match the amount and donate it back to the town.
Sweethearts Breakfast
This Valentine’s Day treat, those special someones in your life with a ‘Sweethearts’ deal at Mon Cœur Cafe! Celebrate your significant other, a family member or just a close friend with a meal created with them in mind. Each meal is tailor made for the two of you! Choose from a variety of themed dishes. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we’ve got you covered! For those with an eye for the romantic dinner, each meal also comes with two tickets for the Dekker Ranch carriage rides and a bottle of Devereaux wine!

II. BIOGRAPHY.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Child Abuse, alcohol, drugs, injury.
The Fortier family always looked like a dream, the perfect family. Xavier Fortier was charming, a pillar of the community. His family’s wine business had been successful for generations, affording his family all the luxuries in life. Daiyu was ever the beautiful doting wife and mother, her smile lighting up a room. Their children, Alexandria and Edgar, fit right into the picture. However perfect was never quite how it seemed. Behind his charming exterior Xavier was cruel with a violent temper often turned on his wife and children leaving them walking on eggshells around him, or in some cases literal glass. Daiyu checked out, lost in whatever pills she could get prescribed just to hide from what her world had become.
Alexandria learned her place quickly, often quiet and reserved. She played the part well, and as the front doors closed she often disappeared into her room to lose herself in books or later, lines of code, those lines of numbers and letters that made up the beautiful app or webpage that everyone could see. It seemed that Edgar and code were the only real things in her life. Born just a year apart, the siblings were close, they looked out for each other. Though she was older, Edgar often protected her most commonly from their father’s wrath and she would tend to his wounds, often settled in his room making up stories of far away worlds they wished they could escape to.
Alex knew there was no real escape, instead she did what she could to be the best daughter hoping to quell her father’s open disdain for her and make their lives a bit more bearable. A talented equestrian, her trophies lined the walls for public view but it was only met with contempt. Her eyes shifted toward the business hoping that if she’d found her place there, maybe taking the stress from her father would lighten his grip on the bottle. She took her time, learning the business from top to bottom, developing friendships with the employees and had even created a plan to combine her love for programming with the family business and bring it forward into the digital age. However her pitch was ruined as her father entered sloshed on the latest bottle the company had put out. His cruel laughed echoed in the room, “You’ll never be apart of this business. You’re not my daughter. You’re mother was a slut and conned me into marriage. The only reason I didn’t force her to drop you off at the nearest orphanage is because she promised me a son.”
Alex never knew if his words were true or just the ravings of a mean drunk. She never could catch her mother in a sober enough moment to confirm. As deep as the words cut, she couldn’t seem to pull herself from the role she’d always played. Her brother had always been the braver of the two and he had gotten out and she’d found herself following him to New York, gaining much needed distance from the media that demanded the fake smiles of the perfect Fortier family. Web development was the new craze and it wasn’t long before she built up a reputation of her own landing her a top spot in the IT department of Elite. But still she felt like she lacked control, she still felt the weight of being the perfect daughter suffocating her.
While her work life was thriving, Alexandria had always felt like something was missing at least until she discovered the world of underground fighting. She and Edgar had been training to fight since their early teens, hoping to protect themselves from Xavier’s rage. Somehow she found herself in those matches. With each fight, whether win or loss, she gained a piece of control over her world. The irony that the bruises on her skin were of her own choice and no longer her father’s doing gave her a strange confidence and maybe someday she’d be bold enough to rid herself of the Fortier grasp completely.

II. BIOGRAPHY.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Drugs, alcohol, death.
From a very young age, all Chase knew was conflict. His mother and father married for the legal benefits of it and never planned on having children, so it was a great surprise to them both when she ended up pregnant. They decided to have him, but she pretty much checked out after that. His prison therapist attributed it to post-partum depression, but Chase wouldn’t offer her that out: not when she turned to drugs and alcohol to cope instead of her family. When Chase was seven, his mother skipped town and his father decided he couldn’t – or didn’t want – to raise Chase on his own. He was sent to live with his grandmother.
Despite it being a smaller town, Chase didn’t mind so much because he was finally with someone who loved and cared about him in a way that he had never experienced when living with his parents. Here he actually felt wanted. Then two years later, his grandmother passed away in her sleep. It devastated him and he didn’t want to be sent back to live with his dad, so he continued to pretend that she was alive, using her credit cards, forging her signature, and learning how to navigate public transportation so he could get to and from school. He was discovered when collections came to seize her assets after bills went unpaid and he was sent into the foster care system.
Chase was angry with the world for being sent back into homes where he wasn’t really wanted. He continued to feel like every good thing he had was being taken away from him and that anger seeped out into his actions, constantly getting into fights, causing problems there and at school, and bouncing around between foster homes. At one of his first few foster homes, he met a boy named Levi only a few years younger than him and Chase’s bond with him was the main reason he stayed there for a longer period of time than his other ones. Chase refused to let him and Levi be separated, which meant he was subjected to constantly changing homes as well as he grew up. When Chase turned 15, he began to sell drugs, starting on street corners and moving his way up the ranks throughout the next fourteen years. It was a way for him to make some money so he could save up, take care of his brother, and move away from this place, which was his greatest desire. When he was old enough to be Levi's legal guardian, the two of them began moving across the country in search of a place they could call home.
He gave himself a front by working various odd jobs, primarily in construction, though he grew even more involved in selling drugs the better the money got. He was caught crossing city lines with a large amount of product and paraphernalia and was charged with possession with intent to distribute. They offered him a lesser sentence if he gave up his supplier, but he refused and spent five years behind bars. He was meant to serve longer, but due to overcrowding and good behavior on his part, he was released early into his brother's care. He has very little to his name and is finding it hard to start over again, but thankfully, Levi started his own construction company and gave Chase a job when other places weren't willing to hire an ex-convict, so he's doing his best to keep his nose out of trouble.

II. BIOGRAPHY.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: None.
Nicholas’s mother had always called him the product of a whirlwind romance. She’d fallen in love with a young man in Paris and after just a few months together they were married with a child on the way. Everything seemed perfect, storybook even until the young man up and left, disappearing into the night with no note or explanation, leaving his young mother with a small child and no means to care for him. At the prompting of his grandmother, his mother moved them both home and took a job as housemaid in the home of the Fortiers, a local wine mogul who his grandmother worked for as cook.
Nick was raised alongside the Fortier children as he helped his mother and grandmother out around the house. He grew accustom to spending time with the brother and sister, though it was clear there was far more love in his home then theirs. He couldn’t help but develop a crush on the Fortier son and in their teens he found he was not alone. The pair fell for one another, meeting up in secret as the man’s father would not approve. For the first time, Nick allowed himself to dream, inspired by love. He even applied to a few medical schools, he had no idea how he’d pay for it but if they could get away from Xavier Fortier and that house maybe they could find a way.
Unfortunately they were found out, though he wasn’t sure how. Xavier of course could not have his son dating someone of such a low stature but he was sly wanting to keep the whole business discreet. He gave Nicholas an offer: He would pay for his schooling. room and board and all, as long as Nicholas left his son’s life. Nick was shocked, dismayed by the father’s dismissal of his son’s happiness but his grandmother forced him to think about it. He’d always been insecure about his standing, knowing that some day his love may move on to someone richer or from a better family, not the son of their housemaid. Every insecurity fed into his anxiousness over the offer and next thing he knew he was accepting it and with a letter left for the son, hopefully offering some explaining his choice he left for America.
To mend, or more likely hide his broken heart, Nicholas turned his focus on his schooling. If his young love was what he had to give up for the chance to be a doctor, debt free, then he was going to make damn sure it was worth it. With years of schooling under his belt, he found himself at a residency in the ER of New Hanover Medical. It was there he found his true calling, loving the fast pace nature of the ER floor. Once his residency was up, he was lucky enough to get hired on and found himself settling into the town of Amory.

II. BIOGRAPHY.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Injuries, hospitalization.
Lexi came into the world shivering and screaming, but only because she had been born in the middle of February in Boston. She was the second child to David Dekker, and the first child to Rose. Full of giggles and smiles – everyone could tell that she was a happy baby. One that would not cry unless she was hungry or hurt. Most of her memories were from her childhood in Boston, considering that was where she called home for so many years. Her first soccer game was played there, and the first boy she ever had a crush on was two houses down from her own.
Soccer was something that Lexi and her father bonded over. Considering he practically forced her into the sport, however Lexi grew to love it – and did not mind being whisked to practices every Monday and Thursday – with games being every other Saturday. Even if she were not on the field David and Lexi could be seen on the front lawn practicing until her mom finally came out and confiscated the ball and made the two of them come inside for dinner.
Rose was the mom that everyone wish that they had. She was kind, ambitious, and listened whenever her daughter needed her. The two of them had always been so close, and Lexi told her mother everything. She was never ashamed when she was in the wrong because Rose was there to comfort her. The two of them would spend Sunday’s together. Window shop in the city and have lunch dates to recap their week. It had to be Lexi’s favorite part of the week.
Lexi knew her sister didn’t have it as easy as she did, and so when she did see Blake she made sure to listen if her elder sister ever wanted to talk about life with her mom, however Lexi didn’t realize how bad it had been for Blake until after her car accident and being moved to Amory. Each night the Blake was in the hospital, Lexi was right by her side. She loved having an older sister – and seeing her in the hospital was heartbreaking, all she wanted to do was make her sister’s pain go away. The two of them became even more close than they already were, once Lexi moved to Amory – they were able to see each other so much more often, versus video chatting with each other or talking on the phone. They would spend free time practicing their soccer skills with their father, or even just sitting silently in the same room together.
Lexi went on to play soccer for her high school team, and eventually became the team captain. That was until her Junior year of high school when a game went south, and Lexi tore her ACL and broke her ankle after falling the wrong way. The injuries combined were enough to end her soccer playing career right then and there. Lexi took the news hard and had to hang her jersey up. After falling in with the wrong crowd soon after, she soon found out how out of place she truly was after someone had slipped something into her drink. Before she was completely out of it – she quickly called her mother to pick her up.
After high school, Lexi went straight to NYU and became a business major and moved in with her older sister. The two of them were having the time of their lives before Blake moved to DC and Lexi went on to NYU Stern School of Business after graduating with her degree. As soon as she graduated, she moved right back to Amory and got an apartment close to her parents. Not long after she moved back, and with the help of her mother – Lexi begged Blake to come back Amory so the three of them could open the Café together.

II. BIOGRAPHY.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Child Abuse, alcohol and drug mention.
Family: Edgar doesn’t know what the word means entirely. Of course, he knows what the dictionary says family is, and what the media says family is, but he doesn’t actually know what a family is supposed to be. He’d always felt as if he was living in a reality tv show – on the outside, everything seemed perfect. The Fortiers had money – the result of a rather successful winery business that had been in the family for generations. The Fortier children had the best of everything – schooling, clothing, material possessions. On the inside, though, family was his own personal hell. His mother often numbed herself with pills and his father… Well, Xavier was the worst kind of monster – the kind of man who abused his wife and children simply because he could. The only bright spot in young Edgar’s life was his sister, but even she didn’t know how much he suffered.
Edgar made sure of that. Life may have been torture for him, but he would be damned if life was anything less than perfect for Alexandria. She was entitled to the picturesque home life that they’d seen on the television and obsessed over and he was determined to do everything in his power to give her that, even if it meant walking through hell.
Edgar Michael Fortier. It was a stately name. One a prince would be proud to bear, but to a young, broken boy, it felt like a burden. Edgar never felt as if he quite belonged. The son of a Chinese mother and Caucasian father, Edgar was made aware of just how different he was from a young age; he wasn’t white enough to have a place among the children of his father’s friends, and he wasn’t connected enough to his Chinese heritage to truly have a place among his mother’s family. He’d almost come to expect the quizzical looks that always accompanied his introductions.
He learned from a young age to breathe through those feelings, to be the stronghold his surname suggested. When the other children hurled ugly words at him, Edgar would simply bury the feelings that those words brought to the surface. Whenever his father flew into his rage and used Edgar as his target, Edgar would grit his teeth and propel his mind to somewhere else. After a while, it became easy to hide behind the mask he’d cultivated – cold, unfeeling, all business; to be the snake, biding his time for the perfect moment to strike.
That moment finally came on Edgar’s eighteenth birthday. His mother had baked a small cake (the first kind thing she’d done for her son in years). At first, it seemed as if the family would get through one event without an incident, but as the night progressed, it became increasingly apparent that Xavier wouldn’t allow his son to be happy. Overflowing with selfish pride, he announced that he’d played a hand in separating his son from the boy he’d fallen in love with. The family, after all, had different plans for Edgar – plans that didn’t involve losing his heart and his good sense to a staff member’s son. Years later, Edgar still cannot say exactly what happened. One moment, he’d been staring his father in the eyes. The next, his hand was wrapped around his father’s throat, pinning the man to a wall.
After his eighteenth birthday, Edgar cut all ties to his father. He changed his surname to his mother’s – Yang – and moved to New York City, an entire ocean away from the family’s legacy. While he still maintained his connections to the winery and its staff, Edgar began to build a life away from the Fortiers. This led him to the private security industry, where he could easily convert the skills he’d learned training since his youth with his sister. It was a career at which he excelled. The clients were annoying and Edgar couldn’t say that the job was fulfilling, but it was easy enough and kept him sharp.
As he got closer to the end of his twenties, Edgar realized that being a bodyguard for hire was not what he planned to do for the rest of his life. He moved to Amory, hoping for a quieter existence – somewhere where he could focus his efforts into building his own private security firm while also learning more about business management in the case that he ever decided to return to France and the family’s wineries.
