Hey, y'all!
The last year or so has found us in a time where there has been little to no free time to explore our beloved hobbies, and so it was a bit of a shock to realize I had stepped away from this community for over 6 months...
That being said, logging in to the hoard of likes, reblogs, messages and mentions has been a trip. Thank y'all for loving and enjoying my past content, and thank you so much to those who send me feedback and pictures of my content being used in your games/environments! It's amazing! And as always, hello to my new followers and I hope you enjoy the page!
I do miss creating and exploring the TS3 community, this has always been a source of happiness for me and I hope to be able to be more active soon, but this season in our lives has been such a change & challenge for us as a family. So I won't make promises I can't keep on when I'll be back and active.
I will still be a member of the community however, I don't have plans to shut down or remove my content for the foreseeable future, so when I get my groove back I'll be seeing y'all again with new content and ideas. My project file is sitting there waiting for me to dust the cobwebs off - it's like an old attic full of boxes lol.
I hope y'all have a wonderful Easter and 2024 is kind to you.
We'll see you around(:

Hey guys! We're in the midst of moving season, we have three weeks left until we officially move all the way from the east coast to the west coast. So things have been and will continue to be crazy for us for a bit.
I'm getting ridiculously close to finishing all of the rocks I have in project, so if I finish any between packing and getting the house ready to rent I'll release them. If not, I'll see yall when I land on the west side.
Lots of love ❤️ Hope everybody's doing well! 🤙🏻

Break
Sometimes you need a mental break when you have a project file the size of an elephant.
So I did these. I also have an art file the size of an elephant so I'm going to try not to get sucked in while I'm trying to do something fun. lol.
I need to look into the possibility of making custom paintings for art sims. How cool would it be to have these as masterpieces!
Tumblr media
And because a picture frame turned into a wall and then a headboard... here's a bed I started. lmao

Tinkering and Progress
Taking a brief break on plants to try and avoid the dreaded burn-out, and switched over to rocks. This is technically terrain paint, but I had several textures for the beach that I wanted to tackle to get tiny rocks in without the polycount. I think I found a few that will work very well, and further fiddling with it produced seaglass - which is stupid exciting because I couldn't find any for the longest time, and now I've managed to make some myself!
Forgive the sloppy terrain painting, I slapped it on there to test the texture and take quick pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
More progress on the actual rocks as well, I now have a few bedrock pieces, cliffs and a whole mass of rocks/boulders to add to the collection. I'm editing the older rocks I put out to better match the mountain texture I have for the world (which took me what, two years to settle on? Never mind - we'll ignore that bit lol) and a couple of landmark pieces such as druid stones and cairns. I'm still fine tuning all of it, and trying to optimize the best angles out of the rocks I have so far - which drives me crazy because one rock can quickly turn into ten because different angles and textures can give wildly different results.
Cliffs and bedrock -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Druid stones and cairns - in progress
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting the rocks to better blend in to the world with the matching textures (while still maintaining details such as moss, lichen and normals)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And trying not to get overwhelmed by how many I have left to do lol.
I've also been slowly chipping away at getting plant singles finished, so those will come along shortly too.
And finally a peek at part of the world - super happy with it so far! I finally have my mountains! :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hope y'all had a good weekend!

Turning 30 this year! :D
calling out all the 30+ yr old simmers..
no shade to the teens and early twenties bloggers but it’s hard finding people within my age group that are active and continue to contribute here in the community.
also idk if anyone else experiences this but sometimes it can be difficult relating to the younger population due to generational differences, pop culture, etc.
please reblog or comment if you fall into the 30+ age simblr category.

Round 10 - 11 [Last round]
Wheat!
By far the most temperamental, yet expensive crop we have - is wheat. Used for centuries in quality bread making, baked goods, brewing, livestock, and pasta-making it's wide variety of uses secured it's place as one of the most sought after grain in trade.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's close cousin, known as winter wheat, has been used to feed livestock over the cold seasons when grain was scarce.

Notes:
These are UPDATED versions of my previous crop fields - If you have the old fields in your game, they will still work as they are separate plants, but please consider that the new fields are much lower in poly (game weight/size) than the old fields, and reworked to look better over large areas as they are fuller and circular in shape rather than an odd triangle. Please consider replacing them in your games.
These are giant fields. They are meant to fill empty space in CAW/Edit town - you can use them on lots, but as stated they are quite large so if you decide to use them as lot decoration hold onto your hat because they're gonna take up a chunk of ground.
I will be making smaller/single plants to match the fields, but it takes time so please be patient.
These are speedtree plants, so they'll "follow you" when you move around. However consider that any recolors of these plants will become a default replacement unless you make the package unique. So if you would like to recolor them to suit your current world, feel free to, but please make it it's own package so they don't override the original.
These are fairly large but have low polycount - coming in at 330 polys each. That means you can have several of these in one area without weighing down your game too much. That's a win for everyone.
Please feel free to tag me if you use them in your world, I love to see them in your games! <3

Out of curiosity, which is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! Y'all enjoy your new farmlands! <3

Round 9 - Oats
A massive staple in historical kitchens, oats were first used as feed for livestock, and then gained widely known popularity in the form of porridge - otherwise known as oatmeal. It was also commonly used for soaps as its luxurious texture was kind on the skin.

Round 8 - Rye
Rye became a staple in Europe during the Middle Ages, where it was cultivated and used to produce both bread and alcohol. Rye is hardy enough to grow in poor soils and cold temperatures, surviving in snow cover that would otherwise kill wheat. Known as the starvation grain, it kept countries alive when other resources failed, and became wildly popular in brewing alcohol due to it's spicy countenance. Bread making using this particular grain became popular as well, and can now be recognized as pumpernickle.

Round 7 - Rice
While there's some speculation on the fact of whether rice was a common food for the rich or for the poor, this crop has been around since the beginning. Heavy in need of both sun and water, it was one of the first imports in the trade bearing, being carried across Europe. It was used as both a grain and a food staple, used as a thickening agent and made into puddings, and converted into paint of all uses.

Round 5 - Cotton
The industry of cotton has kept society in fabric and textiles for centuries, though limited in certain areas of the world. Due to such limitations, flax and wool were popular substitutes, but when available the strength and softness of cotton was heavily desired for making clothing, bedding and even forms of paper.

Round 4 - Cannabis
Most ancient cultures grew cannabis as a herbal medicine; the plant originally evolved in Central Asia before it was introduced into Africa, Europe and eventually the Americas. The history of cannabis cultivation in America dates back to the early colonists, who grew hemp for textiles and rope. The fiber was also used to make clothing, paper, and sails, and its seeds were used as food.

Round 3 - Tobacco!
Tobacco is found scattered throughout history, and its origin is difficult to discern considering it's various forms and uses. Traditionally, tobacco was used in spiritual and religious ceremony, but over time it began to be used in leisure. The leaves were found to be useful for wounds, specifically for stings such as bees, and when mixed with lime or chalk it was used to whiten teeth in times where hygiene was very limited.

Round 2 - Corn Fields
Corn was not a common staple in medieval times until the Colonies were established, and trade began crossing the seas. It began as an additional grain for livestock, and eaten in meals "on the cob" as they say. The discarded cobs were then used for hygiene purposes in the privvy, as toiletries were scarce and these were available. Corn was popularly planted near sunflowers, as they could use the sunflower stalks for stability during growth.

Round 1 - Barley
Barley is perhaps one of the most common sources of food known in history. Able to grow in colder climates, it's better suited and more available than wheat, and packs substantial amounts of nutrients in scarce times. Used to feed livestock, make bread, porridge, and alcohol, this plant has kept nations fed during the most severe of famine, and has medicinal uses to boot.

15 questions for 15 mutuals
Thank you for tagging me @treason-and-plot! I rarely do these but I'll indulge(:
Are you named after anyone? Yes. But we're gonna leave that alone.
When was the last time you cried? A couple of weekends ago, our favorite duck got picked up by an owl and the shithead dropped her by the pond near our house. I looked like I'd gone a full round in the ring when I was done. Nature is beautiful but can be cruel, too.
Do you have kids? Yes, we have a 7 year old boy and a 3 year old little girl. They're my world(:
Do you use sarcasm a lot? It's a large part of my personality in most cases, lol
What sports do you play/have you played? I was a swimmer, loved riding horses and had a brief stint in boxing/self defense.
What’s the first thing you notice about other people? Their eyes. People don't realize how much they say through their eyes without speaking a word. Second is stature/handshake. A good handshake can say a lot about you, too.
Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings - I'm not a fan of horror. I've had horror in my life, I don't care to relive the feeling on a screen. I do like psychology, though, so I'm more inclined to watch a run on serial killers rather than a fictional story that's meant to simply scare you.
Any special talents? I have a deep joy in feeding people - my baking skills are subpar (I once made a loaf of bread that could have been used as a murder weapon, but that's another story lol) but I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. Design / I've found that I really love design and bringing something new out of the old. If I may be so bold, 3D design. I love this field and thoroughly enjoy creating aspects for digital creations that people can use to create realistic atmospheres.
Where were you born? Texas.
What are your hobbies? Writing, reading, history. Painting, 3D design, architectural design. Gardening (rudimentary at best, but it's therapeutic), caring and working with animals - especially horses. I also like nature, hiking, snowboarding (though it's been years), and wakeboarding - spending time at the lake. Also, exploring architectural sites/archives/museums.
Do you have any pets? Yes, though our situation has changed drastically over the last year. We still have our old man, Lance - who is a 9 year old shepherd mix. We lost Ellie, our hound last year of Cancer. And we had to sell the rest of our ducks as we will be moving later this year.
How Tall Are You: 5'4''
Fave subject in school? English/History.
Dream job? 3D world design.
Eye colour? Gold.
I would like to tag - @murfeelee @omedapixel @nonsimsical @modestpixels @desiree-uk @technicallyswagpizza @katsujiiccfinds @dhalsims @danjaley @bbcopperdaisy @silvakristiina (Sorry if y'all have already done one - or have zero interest!)
