Peter & Margaret bought a “boring ’80s white brick box” with a low ceiling, poky rooms and old linoleum floors.

Yet, the aesthetically horrible house checked off all their boxes, so Margaret said, “I reckon I can do something with this.” Now, she’s very proud of her “explosion of color.”

Margaret opted for a darker, moodier palette, which somehow still feels light.

The dining room is anchored by a solid recycled table.

Inspired by darker, brightly tiled European kitchens, Margaret opted for dazzling blue cement tiles for the floor and partial backsplash.

And a moody shade of indigo for the cabinets.

In the office, the ‘Magnolia Mural’ wallpaper springs to life with wild flowers displayed in a vase, a matching side lamp, and neon signage.

The bedroom is surprisingly minimal, almost muted, thanks to a simple metal bed frame. “Even though we’re maximalists, I think too much clutter in your bedroom can send you crazy,” says Margaret.

Margaret likes a glamorous bathroom and chose floral wallpaper and black subway tiles.
