Not long after the painting, Larson took Silas down to the waterfall and river, where he and his father met.
Though incredibly different, the two boys got on well. Whilst they didn't really have any shared hobbies or interests, with Silas being much more academic.
Still, Larson enjoyed Silas's company. Although he loved his parents and home, he didn't get much attention there, and so to talk to someone with their undivided attention for so long, it was nice.
They made their way down to the river, and made their way back up, still talking

After the wedding, Harry and Frannie moved into an old cottage on his families estate, away from in-laws, where they could start a peaceful and happy life together.
They also hung up their wedding portraits, taken right outside the church.

Not long after Frannie's birthday, Harry invited her out once again to the ruins. Although she had a slight suspicion over what was happening, she kept quiet.
As they walked down to the pavilion her heart beat harder and harder, until Harry finally got down on one knee and proposed.
And Frannie was delighted to say yes.

That weekend, Larson made his way over to the nice man, or Mr McHugh's (as he had come to learn) home.
In a suit borrowed from his brother to look more professional, he was set up in the study with Silas, Mr McHugh's son.
As they talked, Larson learnt that Silas was only a year older than him, but they had never met as he was privately tutored at home. Silas even confessed that Larson was the only person he had met around his age.
When the painting was almost finished, with a few finishing touches here and there, Silas came to look at himself.
"Say, you're really good at that."
Larson laughed.
And so when Silas offered for Larson to come around again, no painting necessary, he agreed. His mother had always said he needed new friends.

It was finally Frannie's 18th birthday! The whole family dressed up in their best attire to celebrate and Harry was even invited by her mother.
As a gift, and also to send to his sisters, Bertie had a portrait of Frannie done.
(And with that we start the 1910s!!)

Whilst his parents were occupied with his siblings and the growing tensions in the house, Larson often escaped to continue his paintings.
He preferred to keep to himself, and so often before school he would pack up his easel and find a landscape to paint.
It was a random morning when a man approached him. Larson although apprehensive talked to the man who complimented his style and technique.
After discussing his love for painting with the man for only a few minutes, the unknown stranger said something he could have never guessed.
"You do have a talent for painting young man. Could I possibly commission a painting from you, of my son." The man offered him his address, saying to call on him to discuss further details.

On the other hand, Winnie was also not having the best of luck with her mother either.
Whilst she had been trying to be more helpful and be like her older sister, Winnie struggled in her new chores.
It had started by getting water all over the floor when doing the washing, and then breaking the washing line when putting up the clothes. neither of which her mother was happy about.
So when she tried to ask her mother about the growing women's movement, she was met with the harshest of belittling. Her mother stated that she was "far too young" to be caring about such things.
And after that statement, it led to a full-blown argument between Winnie and her mother that left the entire house shaking.

As life went on, James found himself studying to prepare for university. Although he had no direction of what he wanted to do, or which university he wanted to go to, he knew his father was adamant about it.
He couldn't see his future after university, and he could barely imagine himself enjoying university either. It all seemed so boring, and inconsequential. He wanted adventure and a life.
It had even gotten to the point of him leaving in the middle of day and going out to smoke. He was so disinterested in this life that had been effectively set out for him.
When he finally mustered up the courage to talk to his father about this, he was met with only the smallest of sympathy.
His father simply patted his back and assured him that university would be his adventure, and would be just as much fun as the city was.
But James wasn't so sure.

After weeks of pleading, Frannie had finally gotten her parents, or father, to agree to hosting Harry for Lunch.
Isabelle and Frannie had spent ages cooking up a dish to impress Harry, and both were happy to say that it was quite a successful meal. Even if they had to borrow a bigger table so everyone could fit.
And Frannie was very happy to see that her father seemed to like Harry too.
And well, it wasn't all bad that when her siblings started to demand attention from her parents, she could sneak out into the backyard with Harry either.

It was a rather wet morning, when Winnie went out with her brothers into town.
Whilst they had promised their parents to look after her, she ran off, playing around the centre her childish games, and going to look at what she could spend her money on in the shops.
But when she saw a woman walking determined and hurriedly down her path wearing a purple, green and white sash and a badge reading votes for women, Winnie stopped to admire her.
She had heard about this movement before, through the many conversations of her sister and mother, and occasionally her brother too, who told stories of the city.
She wanted to ask the woman about the movement, but decided against it, especially when her brothers decided to run after her.

Although it was a grey autumn morning, Frannie, accompanied by her mother, met Harry, just as he had promised a few days ago.
They walked down the riverside, admiring the waterfall and the scenery, but also getting to know one another more.
Harry told her stories about all the parties he had gone to, and the trouble he had caused with his friends at school, whereas Frannie talked about her siblings and all the trouble they had caused her.
Off in the distance, Isabelle watched reminiscing. There was something so beautiful about young love.

Comforted in the fact that his family was asleep, James would often leave the house in the late hours of the night to indulge in his bad habits.
Often sitting by the riverside, although home, James did not feel like it. He missed the hustle and bustle of the city, and the many friends he had. He missed the freedom his aunt had provided him.
Now, all he did was sit alone and smoke. He wanted more, he wanted an adventure, but he wasn't sure how to get it here in the quietness of Henford-On-Bagley.
