Tommy is of course a polarising entertainer. More so than most.

It can be odd to discuss him for this reason. A lot of people find his content cringy or obnoxious. And that's not a feeling that will ever go away. I don't think it's really a problem, you shouldn't need to appeal to everyone, merely appeal to your audience. That's not saying crit isn't valid or something like that xD, but there's no point pushing Tommy to a mould he's not going to fit. An energetic, big personality is a huge appeal in itself. I like how he can take control of a conversation by knowing how to ask questions and say statements that put others on the back foot. Others will find him rude and offputting for that sort of thing but I find this brings out some charming dynamics, especially as he isn't actually mean at all, he's very nice and just likes the witty adversarial banter.

There's also a reason he's got that tagline of 'annoying at first' (which is brilliant to have by the way). I think that is actually a result of his sarcasm. a lot of Tommy's persona is ironic. He'll say statements about being a strong man who loves money etc and it can take people a little time to realise that that whole thing is a joke. That whole thing is not real. But viewers can take a bit of time to work out that that's his humour and it's not funny until you realise that Tommy doesn't just make jokes - he is the joke.
