sometimes you read a fanfiction to distract and enjoy yourself but you end up reading a dialogue or a sentence that fundamentally changes who you are as a person and how you perceive the world around you, and honestly i wouldn't have it any other way

people often complimented Sirius on hereditary attributes (jawline, hair, skin, etc.) and they never really made him feel good like compliments should, because they came from his family and they reminded Sirius of his family.

i think that once Sirius started rebelling more from the Black family, he made more modifications to his look (piercings, eyeliner, different clothing, etc.), resulting in appreciating compliments based on those aspects of himself rather than the previous ones.

Remus never complimented Sirius on something that he couldnt control

id like to add that when James and Sirius first met the first thing James said to him was a compliment on his hair looking cool in a bun

thank you so much for talking about this! as someone who generally doesn't get discriminated against much, ive been advised to listen to those who do and not make assumptions about what they are feeling and try to speak for them, and i would advise you to do the same

i am a FIRM believer of the following:

girls saw sirius and thought he was hot or whatever so they like hung around him a lot to try to catch his attention

when they did, they obviously were hanging around the marauders too

then, each one of them slowly fell in love with sarcastic, bookish, remus lupin

after this, they all started realizing that remus had a special way of looking at sirius, and (after further investigation) sirius did the same towards remus

the girls then backed off some but they didn't stop talking about it and making bets
