It’s been a while since I’ve made this post, and I realized I never actually thought about what Shinigami and necromancers think about each other, considering people like Matsuda can literally bring things back to life.

I’ve decided that there’s probably a lot of bad blood there - shinigami are convinced that someone leaked their secrets to a human a long time ago which started necromancers, while necromancer mythology has it that some past necromancer ascended to become the first shinigami. Both dislike each other in the current day. This presents two possible scenarios:

1. While L and Light are playing their homoerotic mind games and Naomi is 5 seconds from killing Light herself if L doesn’t hurry up, Matsuda and Ryuk are having the most looney tunes ass beef in the background.

2. Alternatively, Matsuda and Ryuk became instant besties and can often be found playing video games or going out to the movies together while their respective geniuses have their dick measuring competition.

Either option would probably be hilarious.

Death note au based on that one tumblr post about a necromancer who brings back a serial killer’s victims where L discovers that Matsuda is a necromancer and has him bring back some of Kira’s victims just to see Light freak out.

Included in the people brought back is Naomi Misora. She confirms that Light is Kira but they can’t just say they brought her back to life, so she joins the task force and pretends she never died in order to get more concrete evidence on Light. Light is freaking out and trying to figure out a way to convince everyone that she’s a fake because he knows she has to be a fake, but he can’t explain why without admitting that he was the one that killed her.

This probably culminates in Light having Rem kill Watari and L, and Matsuda bringing them back the next day, which shatters the last piece of sanity Light had.

thinking about tubbo and his relationship with leadership. how he asked forever if he could be president for a day and got added to a long list of names of people who would take over for the person before their name on the list. how he asked to be leader of soulfire and everyone was like "uh yeah sure i guess" on that first day and didn't really take it seriously.

and then fast-forward to now, he's going into purgatory 2 with a whole team behind him supporting him and his leadership. they want him to lead them again without even knowing what's to come, and they still call him coach and captain. it doesn't matter that they lost the first time. it doesn't matter that he's the youngest on the island. he's won people's respect, but more importantly, he's found a family in soulfire, and they've all found a family in each other too. it doesn't just come from a place of respect. it also comes from a place of love. and he's come so far since he was first released from that ice prison. they all have.

before purgatory, no one took tubbo seriously. he only had morning crew. bad was his enemy because of ron and fred. bagi hated him for the hole. he didn't have an egg. so much has changed since then. i mean, just think about what bad said when he showed tubbo the base! think about how bagi's desire to go to purgatory was to save tubbo and the other members of soulfire, how she's said so many times that she wants him as her coach again.

he's found respect, and he's found love of every kind in places he never would have even thought to look. i don't think there's any truer definition of found family than team soulfire.

the thing about q!bad recreating the soulfire base basically block by block and planning to surprise the team with it is that it says a whole lot about him, where is was during purgatory, and where he is now.

q!bad spent months trying to burn bridges and push people away, he effectively placed himself in a distrusted position on the island, his children (the only reason that man breathes) vanished in the middle of the night, he was actively torturing himself and kidnapping people. he was a man on a mission, sure, but time and time again he reinforced to us the audience that he wasn't *happy* about what he had to do. his plan — whatever his plan is — is something he deems necessary enough to have been alright with ruining his own life. as he said to q!baghera: "i'm expendable".

suddenly there's hope in egg island, but egg island is actually a hellscape and he's trapped without his biggest support systems — q!bagi, q!baghera, q!foolish, and even to an extent q!forever were the people he had to take down, they couldn't be there for him anymore. and from his team? other than q!tina and q!aypierre, he wasn't close to anyone or was just... directly antagonistic towards them (mainly q!pac and q!tubbo).

and then the funniest thing happened — he found family in hell and in people he never truly expected to be comfortable around.

he grew to respect and care for q!tubbo, he grew much closer to q!tina, his relationship with q!aypierre was tested and strengthened, he found a connection with q!niki and by god, he protected q!pac — who'd once been terrified of him — with his life. even the people who didn't log on often, he grew to see as part of his pack in a way he (and i) didn't see coming.

when soulfire mains talk about them being the perfect example of found family, that's what we mean. slow, careful changes that grew into love and protection beyond belief — enough that when green gay ninjas were split, everyone was welcomed with a warm hug and a cup of tea, now part of the family undoubtedly and forever. just like that.

their family was hitting their stride when purgatory ended and q!bad tanked a nuke to his back to save his son, and now his bookshelves are all knocked over and his memory's slipping. he's dying, he knows he's dying, and he's holding on by a thread for dapper and pomme even if he's aware that he can't just "bear it" much longer. he's isolated again, hiding and lying about his condition, watching the world turn and knowing his clock is ticking... sometimes he knows nothing at all.

and in this moment of pain, and solemn realization of the end of this version of him?

he's spending his time rebuilding the last place that felt like home block by block, talking openly about how he feels nostalgic and misses their base, their god awful spawn, the memories they made. his time with his daughter has been spent down there.

i know we as a fandom have theorized that one of these days, his memory's gonna snap down there and he'll think he's back in purgatory and it'll be a mess. sure. but right now?

right now that rebuilt base means love, and friendship, and family, and safety. it's the last place things were okay, and he felt cared for in a way that frankly your children can't provide.

a group of ragtag mismatched people got put together in a poor man's hunger games and they saw this demon — bloodthirsty, destructive, full of cold calculated murderous intent and a need to win for his child and instead of being horrified, running away screaming from his fangs and his claws?

they loved him. they found the gentleness beneath the blood and guts. they called him their attack dog because he's so full of love and so protective, and would tear anyone to pieces to protect their family.

team soulfire saw q!bad in a way no one in the island had, and they loved him for it — even when he drove them up the walls and they had to hold the leash tight, they loved him.

and now he's remade their home.

Do you think that with the way the eggs are so much more in tune to qTubbo's true state and how they interact differently with him than anyone else, that they go to him because they know he's unique?

I'm thinking with the way Richas went straight to Tubbo to ask about building a new NINHO, already as secretive and concerned as Tubbo already was.

Do you think that the eggs, seeing Tubbo more truly than most, see how smart he is and think he's the one who can create an answer to their problems?

Do you think with his commitment to never lie to the eggs, they feel he's the only one they can genuinely trust with their safety?

Do you think that the other islanders seeing Tubbo as they do- niave, childish, selfish, foolish- that the eggs see that as an advantage? That Tubbo's strengths are kept secret, so no threat will ever suspect that hes the key to the children's lives?

I'm just thinking about that bunker under a potato farm, and how the eggs thought to go to Tubbo first because he already had a plan to keep them safe without needing to ask. And how he promised to rectify the mistakes from last time, and has turned the secrets they all keep into their greatest hope for defense
