i like to believe that ophelia’s madness gave her a kind of meta knowledge of the plot— that she saw the tragic ending coming, knew that hamlet’s indecision would be his hamartia, that she realised gertrude and claudius were both poisoned with corruption from the beginning and instead of the customary funeral goers laying flowers at a grave, it was Ophelia— mad, at death’s door, about to die in less than 2 scenes— who handed flowers to the king, queen and protagonist as if the dead girl was mourning the living

I live in the city and most of the time I really like it.
I like the bustle and noise and lights. I like the shops and restaurants and cafés and libraries and bars. I like the houses and the streets and the tube and busses and trains. I like that there are so many people that all have hundreds of stories to tell, everyone with different views and dreams and hopes but all united in humanity. I like the rare smiles and familiar strangeness of it all. I like how no one really knows each other but is still somehow connected through the veins of the city. I like that I can go outside and have the world at my fingertips.
But sometimes I wish I was literally anywhere else.
Sometimes, I ache for silence and quiet and peace. Sometimes, I want to live in the countryside. I want to wander through empty fields and damp forests and bathe in cold rivers and chilling mountain streams. I want to hear nature sing and sit in a garden surrounded by flowers and trees and breathe fresh air. I want to live a simple life with bread baking and gardening and chopping wood for a fireplace.
And it pains me that I will never be able to have both.

getting drunk on wine together
reenacting Shakespeare’s plays in a candlelit living room with makeshift costumes out of blankets and hair ties
going to flee markets, second hand bookshops and antique stores together, looking for decorations perfect for each other’s rooms and searching for the oldest findable copies of classics
celebrate birthdays, holidays and famous poet’s birthdays together
throwing theme parties where everyone dresses like a character from their favorite book
recreating bacchanals while wearing togas and feasting on food and wine  while blasting Lorde, Gang of Youths and The Orion Experience through the entire house
Okay i know all of you here in the Dark Academia community are huge introverts, but what about Dark Academia for us extroverted people?
going to cafés with friends and chatting about the newest assignments and back talking the teachers
having group study sessions where you can all complain how stupid the assignment is or help each other out or joke about the historical fact you just found out as you were researching for your essay
candlelit sleepovers where you all whisper among one another about your favourite books and shows and subjects
sitting at different parts of the room - one on the floor, one on the bed, third on the armchair, fourth on the desk, etc - and just reading, occasionally complaining or laughing about something that happened in your book, before moving on
going on long autumn walks, stepping on crunchy leaves and puddles, someone's laughing about how childish that is
going to the library with people, picking out books for each other or asking each other for recommendations
going to museums and pointing out different details you find in the art, maybe someone having some very obscure info about a specific artist or exhibition
having a presentation evening where you present whatever you've been reading up on so you can share it with your friends as well
giving each other annotated books and maybe even letting them add one with a different coloured pen so it's a shared book experience
writing poems or letters to each other
having a reading session where you all read one book outloud, switching between who's reading every chapter or maybe even giving each other roles to read out

I am both terrified and enamored with the thought of being immortal.
On one hand I want to roam this earth forever, know hundreds, thousands of people, live to see rulers and nations rise and fall, I wanna see time change the cities and nature and see cultures and society evolve. I want to see humanity destroy itself and rebuild, I wanna be time’s eternal companion.
On the other hand I want to taste the sweetness and bitterness of mortality, see  the beauty in death, live like a burning flame and die when my fuel runs out. I want to make this fraction of time mine, live my limited forever, time gnawing on me, devouring my body and soul.
