It's a stormy night and a dragon fly flew in and rested on the curtain for a while, before getting stuck on a pillow, at first I was scared but by the time it had flown off I had a fuzzy pit in my chest and stomach. Hope it'll be ok, I'm not used to finding bugs cute when encountering them in real life, usually I get more frightened.
Poor little lad :[
hi you're wonderful and I love ur art and ur a good person
Contrary to how it may sound if you've come across my rants, I do, in fact, like gravity falls, so much so that I get possessed by the ghost of a "not angry, just disappointed" father whenever I talk about what I perceive as shortcomings.
I'm starting to dress like it too...
Stanley pines is overrated
I like him... but jeez guys,
Picking one over the other, or putting one down to justify liking the other isn't cool.
You know who else picked apart the stans and pit them against eachother?
Most stan fans hate fillbrick.
But acting like it's fair to do the same in reverse is kinda silly.
I'm a twin so it makes me real uncomfy to see people dismiss ford or idolise stan, guys
Did we watch the same show?
Gravity falls! The show about two kids learning not to grow up too fast!
That everyone remembers for the adult jokes and the grumpy adult character who makes them...
are we fetishizing trans people in clothes that make them dysphoric?? is that what we're doing ? and u wonder why people block you
"Oh yay! I got an ask! Wonder what it-"
I got this ask a few months ago while I was on holiday and I didn't want to respond, but it's been rattling around in my brain and I do want to take trans issues seriously so here's a reply:
First: Hello! This read like a slap to the face. So I think your passive aggression did it's job well! :]
Second: I am trans. I am a trans man who projects onto ford specifically.
The post you are referencing was never ment to cause any sort of discomfort and I apologise if it did. Although I had hoped me specifying that bill is being a dick and the joke being about how he's being a dick would've clarified where I stood. Of course I don't fault anyone for being uncomfortable with it, but I don't think it's all that harmful. It's got less than 200 notes I can't imagine many people where hurt if at all, I certainly hope not.
Also, the other post you are referencing was about a single blog that had blocked me over a year before I made that comic, I was upset about them specifically blocking me because I enjoyed their art, and I doubt it was my trans stans art that drove them away.
hi there! i just browsed quite a bit of your blog and wanted to say how fricking pretty your art is!!! looking at it feels like a hug to me :D
also didn't expect you to go on my blog after interacting so that was a pleasant surprise ^^;
Awww thanks pal! Your stuff is neat too! :]
Whenever I see a rick and morty and gravity falls crossover it looks so uncanny and tone def. That's obviously just me tho, I really really don't like rick and morty so yeah makes sense.
It's a really popular idea though so I've seen it everywhere for years now. :/
Just makes my brain go "no what? Yuck- why are they next to eachother? That's not right. Shoo shoo"
But everyone else treats it like a match made in heaven. Why? What am I missing here?
I'm aware the creators are friends and there are Easter eggs and jokes ect...
But anything beyond that feels wrong, like magnets of opposing polarities being shoved together.
I obviously don't dislike anyone for liking the idea, that'd be silly, I just don't get it myself.
I totally get what you mean by: feeling the need to justify liking ford.
Feels like damage control.
"Yes. I know most of you hate him. Yes, I know most of you chock up his whole character to some, vague, reductive idea of arrogance. Yes I know he's the bad twin and stans the good twin actually-"
I get a similair thing with liking bill as a character or shipping bill and ford.
"Yes I know everyone prefers fiddauthor. Yes I know people talk about billford as if the only reason you'd have for liking it is being a "h0rNy FrEAk" as if there's anything wrong with that."
And I get what you mean by feeling a bit over emotional about it, but, as far as I've observed, the alternative people seem to take is making nothing but memes or being somewhat irony poisoned. Like a safeguard?
It's a shame, it treats sincerity, outside of the "accepted context: the pines family, close to canon, angst, fiddauthor, ect" as a bad thing.
Although this is just my speculation based on attitudes I've seen, of course peeps are usually just vibin.
Don't even get me started on the whole "bad twin vs good twin" thing. An idea the show itself critiques and, as a twin myself, I feel people tend to miss the nuance and fall back on comparison too often.
I have absolutely felt the way ford does towards stan, on a far less serious level of course, but the feeling of "I am at my bloody limit and I need you to help and you're not, and I'm trying to explain but I'm failing and you're not listening aahhhhhh-" is painfully relatable. Haha
Whenever I read your ford pines posts, I go "THANK YOU!" Out loud or in my head. You've genuinely posted stuff I have thought before almost word for word:
"You want to blame someone? Blame Bill! He's literally right there!" Good example. B]
I'm so glad my Ford posts resonate with you! I've been feeling slightly down about them lately, what with the fandom being the way it is towards them, so I'm really happy to hear something positive about them! Thank you!
And yeah, I really feel like the fandom is too hard on Ford and doesn't really feel willing to see Ford's side that much? Like sometimes it feels like I have to 'justify' why I like Ford so much, or to make sure everyone knows that I know he's flawed, instead of just liking him with no strings attached! It's frustrating, cuz not a lot of other characters are like this in the fandom, especially not Stan, the golden child of the fandom! Not that Stan's a bad character or anything, mind you. My Ford posts were mostly an attempt to balance some of the vitriol against him, by sharing Ford's point of view in a way that makes him more understandable as to why he did or said something.
Anyway, I'm really thankful that you enjoy my hot takes. I'm unsure if I'll post more, since I get so emotional over them, but we'll see I guess.
