It takes a bit before they realize he's not being snarky-- he legitimately just fell asleep in the middle of filming a video.

Whenever one of the Sides wakes up from a bad nightmare, Virgil is there to comfort them, and he always gets them calmed down quickly. He is good at talking them down from it, but not enough to account for how fast they calm down-- though they never notice the discrepancy-- and afterwards, he's always even more tired than them.

Virgil sagged, exhausted, as the scream died in his throat. It wasn't over. Nothing was over. But there was nothing he could do, and he didn't have the energy to care anymore. Half-numb, he observed that the hands were still prodding at him. Gently, probably. It still hurt. It didn't matter, though. Everything hurt. The hands didn't make a difference.

And suddenly he was disgusted with it all. Everything hurt, and nothing mattered, and he was tired. Everything should all go away and leave him alone.

He closed his eyes. The hands didn't go away. He didn't care.

Virgil is running out of excuses for why he stays up so late that don't involve just worrying too much to fall asleep until long past midnight.
