After months...they finally reach the basement.

As Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of the Survey Corps finally reach the crushed rubble of the house, tears sprang to Eren’s eyes. He looked over at the pile of rubble, at the last place his mother had been seen alive. 

A hand was placed comfortingly on his shoulder. He turned to see Armin. Next to him, Mikasa. They both looked at him, and nodded. He nodded too.

With shaking fingers, he pulled the key out from under his shirt. The key that he’d kept with him, all this time. The key that had been both a reminder of his mother’s death, and of what he needed to accomplish. 

Slowly, he opened the half-broken door, and stepped inside his childhood home. 

As destroyed as the house was, he couldn’t help from letting a few tears hit the ground. Part of the house was still intact. He could see the crushed remains of the box that had contained their firewood. The sticks inside reminded him of that last day he and Mikasa had spent, collecting the kindling. 

He knelt down and picked up one of the sticks. After all this time, he recognized it. It was the last stick he’d picked up, after Mikasa had thrown him, thus stopping him from hitting the man again. At the time, he’d been so upset with her. Now, however, he was thankful. 

He stood up, letting his body reach its full height. He turned, and stared at the door. The door that had caused so much controversy over the years. He took one step. Then another, and another. Before he knew it, the key was in the lock. 

He turned it. There was a loud clanking sound, and several mechanisms turned. There was one final click, and the door opened slightly. 

He turned to his comrades. “Ready?” He asked them.

They nodded.

He grabbed a lantern, lit it, and slowly made his way down the steps. 

Cobwebs assaulted him as he made his way down the stairs. Before long, his foot hit the basement floor. 

The room was nearly empty. In the center, stood a pedestal. On which was a piece of paper. He heard Levi mutter a muffled “That’s it?”, but didn’t comment on it. Making his way over, he gingerly picked up the small folded piece of parchment, and slowly opened it. 

On the paper were four words. Four words that would forever change every one of their lives. It read:

“Eren is so gay”

I have a headcanon that whenever Levi is intimate with Eren, he’s very gentle and mindful of his actions. Although Eren wants to be treated roughly during sex, Levi’s reluctant. Eren’s confused since he had always assumed that Levi would be the aggressive type considering his tough attitude, but apparently it’s the opposite. Whenever they are together, Levi’s always the one who’s the most careful about how he touches or kisses Eren. 

When Eren questions him about it, Levi just brushes it off as not being used to an intimate relationship, however, the truth is that Levi had always been quite gentle with the things he cares about. The trauma that caused him to hold his cup a strange way since his childhood made him want to cherish the things that he deemed breakable. Eren was breakable to him and the last thing he wants is to break Eren.

I like to think that Levi wanted to pat Eren’s head in the pic above, he was also clenching his hand like he wanted to restrain himself from doing so

I just really love the fact that Eren doesn’t only remind Levi of himself but he is a constant reminder of his past life as well
