My blog (fatgirlflow.com) is about learning how to be body positive and challenging my thoughts about bodies. I believe above all else that our bodies are political and that the marginalization of people in fat, disabled, brown, trans, and queer bodies is systemic and pervasive. I BELIEVE THAT BODY POSITIVITY IS A MOVEMENT AND NOT A FEELING . I do not believe body positivity is something you ACHIEVE, rather it’s something that is practiced . How do we practice body positivity? We reject diet culture. We challenge our beliefs about what “good” and “bad” bodies look like. We examine the intersections of class/race/sexuality/gender to learn how we can more effectively advocate for a culture that believes in body positivity . Body positivity is not self love. It isn’t about YOU or how you feel. It’s a movement to create a cultural shift toward justice for all bodies . We talk about a lot of stuff here, but we’ve got to all come together on this one if we want to really make a difference. So…. let’s do just that.
