The ‘S’ was derived from the ‘M’ series and, up until 1978, the Blackpool based firm had not produced a convertible. That all changed with the arrival of the 3000S in 1978.  Under the skin, the rigid backbone chassis remained the same whilst the glass fibre body was set lower than the previous models and included the luxury of a boot lid. Power was supplied by the Ford, V6, Essex unit mated to a Capri close ratio gearbox.  Only 258 examples were manufactured. Â
