"Rather than a mark of technological genius and innovation, as 'Israel' positions itself as the world’s 'tech hub,' its reliance on AI technology marked a significant step in deploying military technology in warfare where the ends justify means, and expediency must counteract rapidly declining labor intensive potential. Israel’s rapid reliance on AI technology doesn’t demonstrate innovative prowess as it is a crutch to fill in the gaps for a massively absent skilled - and willed - fighting force. The 'TikTok Army' attempted to compensate for its hodgepodge of forced conscripts, who clearly have no will to fight - with just pushes of a button.
Similar to how the US ushered in the 4th industrial revolution to accelerate production output and surplus value at the expense of labor, the Israeli entity is expediting these aims onto the battlefield in the absence of a real fighting force. ... As the US seeks to have artificial intelligence comprise over 90% of internet content by the next year, pioneering on deep fake technology and expanding its weaponization of social media and Google as auxiliary police apparatuses, Israel, having found itself without a fighting force, an army of a well-equipped air force with no ground game or fighters, seeks to perfect the use of Artificial Intelligence in warfare this time around."

Ali Abunimah: If it's basically junk, why would Israel be using it, why would they be allowing Israeli publications to publish about it when there's so much censorship. How does Israel want us to see it? Paul Biggar: I think that Israel wants this to come across as a very technically sophisticated approach to the actions that they're taking. I've been thinking about it for quite a while, why is it that this article was let through the censorship. And I think the idea is that they want us to believe this 90% [accuracy] number [alleged in +972's article]. ... Maybe it would help to take a step back and look at how AI works. What AI does, is it produces a mathematical formula ... and it creates that formula from past information that it has, and then it puts new information into that formula and tries to see from the answer, 'is someone a militant.' And this is the same sort of thing as Instagram predicting a post that you might like or Netflix recommending a movie. All of these models are called recommendation algorithms. People think of AI as being something quite smart ... but all it's doing in every case is predicting something based on past data. ... So when you look at it being applied for 'is someone a militant,' it's not verifying that someone is a militant. ... It's a pre-crime idea. The very concept of it is that we shall predict who we think might be a militant. ... It's purely to sort of white-wash or AI-wash the automation of the genocide."

A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to help a 29-year-old Black trans woman who lost both her legs after allegedly being thrown onto NYC subway tracks by her boyfriend. A statement from the New York City District Attorney confirms that the victim and her boyfriend were at the Fulton St. station in Brooklyn when the man is said to have seen the oncoming downtown train coming and “thrown” his girlfriend towards the tracks. “The victim was rushed to the hospital, where both of her legs had to be amputated. She also suffered from fractures to her ribs and a blood clot in her lungs,” the statement continues. When the police arrived, they found the woman under the train, reports Into. The woman has since taken part in an interview with trans activist Hope Giselle, and explains that she was on her way to a gender-affirming appointment when she alleges that she and her boyfriend got into an argument and he “threw” her onto the tracks.

The Amazon grocery stores which touted an AI system that tracked what you put in your cart so you didn't have to go through checkout were actually powered by underpaid workers in India.
Just over half of Amazon Fresh stores are equipped with Just Walk Out. The technology allows customers to skip checkout altogether by scanning a QR code when they enter the store. Though it seemed completely automated, Just Walk Out relied on more than 1,000 people in India watching and labeling videos to ensure accurate checkouts. The cashiers were simply moved off-site, and they watched you as you shopped. According to The Information, 700 out of 1,000 Just Walk Out sales required human reviewers as of 2022. This widely missed Amazon’s internal goals of reaching less than 50 reviews per 1,000 sales
A great many AI products are just schemes to shift labor costs to more exploitable workers. There may indeed be a neural net involved in the data processing pipeline, but most products need a vast and underpaid labor force to handle its nearly innumerable errors.
