Until Now pt. 2
Part two of my new series, thank you to @huffledor-able541 for the name! This chapter gets a lil angsty but I promise it’ll get better. I hope you enjoy, thank you for reading!!
Word Count: 2231
Warnings: Mention of readers past, nothing too bad just slack parents. Angst
After a few days of bedrest, both you and Daryl were ready to rejoin the group. You had only met a few of them so far, Rick, Lori and Carol had been the ones to bring you and Daryl food, they were kind hearted, genuine people and you knew you would get along with them. You had met Andrea within your first moments, you two didn’t get off to the best start. You woke up in the same position you had fallen asleep in, right at the edge of the bed with a pillow in between you and Daryl, separating your bodies. Daryl had put it there a couple of nights ago saying that he ‘liked to lean against something while he slept.’ You knew he put it there to make sure you kept your distance. He did put it there for that reason, only it was because he thought that’s what you wanted.
Hershel walked into the room a few minutes after you had woken up.
“Just checking in. How’s your ankle feeling?” The sweet tone of his voice was a welcome sound in the morning.
“A lot better, I can’t thank you enough for everything that you have provided me with. A bed, food, medicine. I really appreciate it.” You smiled graciously at the man as he grasped your hand and squeezed it quickly before letting it drop back into your lap. He walked over to Daryl’s side of the bed as he began to stir.
“You awake there, son?” You smiled at how kindly Hershel treated Daryl, no matter how abrasive he could possibly be. Daryl sat up and mumbled a noise of affirmation. “I need to check your stitches. Make sure they won’t bleed over the next few days.”
Daryl sat up and allowed the man to check over his side and his head. You noticed every little flinch that occurred when Hershel would touch Daryl’s skin.
“I think you’re both right to go back to your people now.”
You nodded and smiled at Hershel before he left the room.
“You gotta introduce me to everyone now, Dixon. Gotta tell me about them all.” You chuckled slightly but could feel slight tension between the two of you.
“There ain't much to say about em. Just uh, just keep an eye on Shane.” His tone was serious but it didn’t stop you from joking around.
“Can’t keep an eye on Shane if I don’t know who Shane is.” You said winking at Daryl.
Both of you made your way over to the camp, you noticed that Daryl’s steps were slow as he was still recovering. Your ankle was stable but it throbbed with pain occasionally. Hershel had given you a tube of pain killers to help if it got too unbearable. Rick walked over to the two of you. “Great to see you guys up and about!”
Daryl nodded at the man before asking, “How’s the search going?” “Search?” You questioned, you were curious and listened intently.
“About a week ago we lost a little girl named Sophia, she’s Carol’s daughter. You found Daryl while he was out looking for her one day.” Rick answered.
“Oh my God, that’s terrible. If there’s anything I can do to help, please let me know.” You couldn’t bare the thought of the little girl being all alone.
“We’re planning on heading out today, how’s your ankle feeling?” Rick gave you a quick once over and noticed that you were standing a lot better than when he first met you.
“Not too bad, I’m happy to go out scouting.” It was what you were best at.
Rick nodded before gesturing over his shoulder to the man behind him. “Great, Shane is gonna-”
“Nah, nuh-uh, not him y/n” Daryl interrupted Rick mid sentence as Shane began walking over to the three of you.
“Daryl, it’s fine.” You turned to face the man that you had never met, outstretching your hand to shake his. “I’m y/n.”
He took your hand and smiled. “Shane.”
Before you knew it, you were sitting in the passenger seat of Shane’s car and driving away from a now very angry Daryl. You looked back at him one more time and could practically feel the daggers that he was sending your way with his stare. You looked over at Shane who seemed very serious, his eyes remained trained on the road, only flicking to the map occasionally. You reached into your bag and pulled out your water. You were in the middle of taking a long sip when Shane spoke.
“You been dating Daryl for long?”
You breathed in the water which sent you into a fit of coughs.
“Woah, woah, you okay?” He reached over to pat your back.
You took a few deep breaths. “Yeah, I’m alright. I just…Daryl and I aren’t um, together. We’re not dating.”
“Oh, I just thought. He seems very close to you.”
Your cheeks flushed red as you turned to face the road so Shane wouldn’t see. “We’ve been friends for as long as I can remember. Grew up together. When I left for college I didn’t really keep in contact with him even though I promised to.” You turned to look at Shane now. “I should have called him like I said I was going to, I just got caught up in the college lifestyle. I’m a bad person.”
“Not calling someone makes you a bad person? Nah, you were just becoming your own person. You found him anyway though, right.”
You smiled at the man. What did Daryl have against him?
“So uh, this kid. You think we’ll find her here?” You pointed to the map.
“Nah, she’s been missing for over a week and in this day and age, that only means one thing.”
“You never know. I went missing as a kid. Daryl had taught me how to track you see and one day I saw this stray dog, wanted to take it home so I followed it only I didn’t realise how long I’d been following it until the sun was setting and everything around me looked the same. Trees for miles beyond my sight. I was like 10 years old or something, I didn’t think rationally, I just sat in the middle of this forest and cried my eyes out.”
“Someone obviously found you.” Shane’s eyes remained fixed on the road.
“Daryl did. Said he could tell it was me the second he saw the foot prints, followed them all the way to me and brought me home to my parents.” You looked down at your shoes, finding something to focus on while you told the story to Shane.
“His parents just let him go out into the woods like that?”
“He uh, he lost his mom earlier that year. He’s a couple of years older than me so he was about 12 at the time. His dad wouldn’t have even noticed he was missing. Only person who would’ve cared slightly was Merle and he was in juvie again. He yelled at me when he found me. Told me I coulda died or something, he treated me like I was his responsibility. At least I had him taking care of me, my parents didn’t give a shit.”
“I’m sorry you had to experience that.”
You stared at Shane for a second. He really didn’t seem that bad.
“What are you staring at? It’s my hair cut, ain’t it.”
You tried to stifle the laugh that came out of you. “No, no, your haircut is, well, its a hair cut. Actually now that I’m focussing on it, I think you missed a spot.”
Shane rubbed the back of his head and smiled at you.
“I can fix it for you, when we get back if you’d like. Make sure it’s all even.”
“Thanks, much appreciated. Especially if it’ll stop you from staring at my head.”
The day went on, there was no sign of Sophia, not to Shane’s surprise. You both headed back home, swapping stories and laughing. When you got back to the farm you noticed that everyone was sitting around except for Daryl. Your eyes searched and noticed that his tent was the one slightly further away from the others. You and Shane walked over to the group, Shane broke the news that there was still nothing to be found while you walked over to Daryl’s tent.
“Daryl, you in there?” You waited a second, no response. You unzipped the tent slightly to find Daryl lying on his bed, twirling a bolt in his hands.
“Whad’ya want?”
“To come and see you, tell you about my day. Just like the good old days, right?”
He muttered a quiet noise before shuffling over on his bed slightly. You took it as an invitation to approach him.
You sat on his bed next to him has he started poking holes in the netting of his tent with the bolt in his hands.
“We went and checked a few houses in the town near by, see if there was any sign of the little girl. Couldn’t find anything. Shane thinks she’s dead.” Daryl’s motions suddenly stopped as his focus was now on you. “I don’t think she is, told him about the time you found me in the woods after I was ‘tracking’ that dog.”
Daryl’s body shook slightly as he laughed, remembering how he had to lead you home.
“Ya sat there crying your eyes out and then instead of following me home, ya tried to lead me further in to find that dumb dog.”
“Daryl I always wanted a dog, you know that.” You both laughed.
“Tell ya what, if I find a dog when I go out one day, I’ll bring it home for ya.” You locked eyes with him now and smiled sending shivers down his spine. Your smile did something to him, ignited something within him that drove him insane, it always had. You were soon interrupted by Andrea.
“Hey Daryl I-” Her eyes flicked to you and then back to Daryl. “I didn’t know you had company.”
You stayed sitting on the edge of Daryl’s bed, staring at the woman who was standing at the entrance to his tent.
“I brought you this book, I don’t know if it’s any good.” She handed the book to Daryl as your eyes remained trained on her. She looked at you now and spoke harshly “Daryl, why don’t you tell your guard dog to stand down.” Daryl saw your expression drop and tried to move but you stood up first, Andrea took a step back.
You looked her up and down before looking her dead in the eyes “If I knew how much of a bitch you actually were, I would have hit you harder.” You stepped closer to her. “Please give me another reason to hit you.” She wouldn’t show it but you intimidated her immensely. She rolled her eyes and left the tent.
“Ya look ridiculous when ya act tough.” And by ridiculous he meant ridiculously attractive.
“Act tough? You know I could beat her ass, same way I could beat yours.”
“Yeah maybe while I’m like this but not on a good day.” Your eyes wandered over him quickly, injuries swarmed his body.
“Alright next time you have a ‘good day’ I’ll prove to you that I can beat your ass.” You sat back down on the bed next to him, your hand accidentally brushed his which sent a jolt of electricity through your spine. His cheeks flushed red but his hand didn’t move and neither did yours. You decided to test the waters a little further by actually grabbing his hand in yours. “I thought I was gonna lose you when you got shot.”
“But ya didn’t. I’m right here.” He sent another shiver down your spine as he adjusted himself in the bed, sitting up, ever so slightly closer to you. His hand remained in yours. You noticed his eyes were fixed on your lips which made your head cloud with all types of emotions.
“Y/n, you in there?” Shane’s voice broke your silence and you stood up quickly from the bed detaching yourself from Daryl both physically and mentally. You turned and exited the tent to see what Shane wanted. Daryl was livid, he could hear you talking and giggling just outside his tent. He bit his thumb until he drew blood.
You walked back into the tent with a smile on your face but that smile was not matched by Daryl.  “Why don’t ya just say it?” His tone had changed dramatically in the few minutes that you were outside.
“Say what?”
“Ya with him now?”
“With who?” You looked at him but his eyes wouldn’t meet yours.
“Shane.” You could hear the hatred in his voice.
“You think I’m with Shane?”
“I know ya are and I don’t fucking care. Ya deserve each other.” His southern drawl became so prominent when he was angry, apart from his tone it’s how you could tell he was upset. That and the way he would avert his eyes and gnaw at his bottom lip.
“Are you serious, Daryl? I don’t know what to say.”
“There ain’t anything left to say, so don’t. Don’t bother saying anything ever again. Just leave me be.”
You had no idea where this was coming from but you weren’t dealing with it, you left his tent quickly before tears welled in your eyes. Where were you going to stay? You couldn’t ask Hershel to stay in the house again and Daryl was the only person you really knew in this group. You had nowhere to-
“Hey, y/n, you alright?” You turned to face Shane, wiping the tears from your eyes.
“Peachy.”
“You wanna stay with me tonight?”
It’s like he could read your thoughts. “That would be great, thank you.”

New Series, pt. 1 - Until Now
A NEW SERIES Y’ALL. Okay, I’m so excited for this one. It’s a friends to lovers <3 I need help thinking of a title so let me know!!
Warnings: Swearing
y/n and Daryl grew up together before y/n left for college, not long after, the world ended and Daryl had already left their town. y/n finds Daryl at the bottom of the ravine on his search for Sophia. After bringing him back to his people, they welcome y/n with open arms allowing the romance between y/n and Daryl to flourish.
Word Count: 2120
You paced the woods trying to pick up on the trail of the deer you had been tracking, suddenly drawn from your thoughts by the sound of a horse and someone in pain. Without thinking, you ran towards the sound, stopping quickly as your body was almost thrown over the edge of a ravine.
“Shit” You mumbled as you tried to focus on the body that laid still down the bottom. You could see blood spilling around him and knew you had to be fast if you were going to help. You found your way down without too many injuries, a few cuts and bruises and a sprained ankle but nothing compared to this guy.
You walked closer, cautious as to if he was still alive or about to turn. Finally you were able to focus on his face. You threw yourself to the floor next to him.
“Holy shit, no fucking way. Daryl?” He didn’t respond as his body laid still. Your head flew to his chest to listen for a heart beat. You could hear one as well as feel the rise and fall of his chest. “Daryl wake up. It’s me. I need you to wake up. It’s y/n” You placed your head on his chest as he began to stir beneath you. Your head shot up as you looked down at his slowly opening eyes, they were as blue as you remembered.
“God first I’m seein’ Merle and now it’s you. How hard did I hit my damn head. Fuck.” He rubbed the back of his head and you chuckled, throwing your arms around him. His entire body went rigid at the contact. You were real.
————
Daryl lifted the last of your stuff into the back of your car. “Ya promise to call me every damn day that ya gone.”
“Yes sir. I promise. I’ll miss you D but I’ll be back by Christmas.”
“Yeah I know.”
You stood up on your toes and placed a small kiss on his cheek, turning on your heels quickly so Daryl couldn’t see the shade of red your cheeks now were but the colour of his cheeks matched yours.
“Back by Christmas.” You muttered, loud enough so he could hear.
“Ya better be.”
You and Daryl had grown up together. You did everything together, knew everything about each other, well almost everything. You never told him that you loved him. He never admitted his love for you. The fear of ruining the friendship the two of you had overpowered any ideas of a confession of love. The day you left for college was one of the hardest days of Daryl’s life, watching you drive away and towards a future quite possibly without him in it broke him that day.
You hadn’t even made it home before the world went to shit, you never got to reunite with Daryl.
Until now.
Here you were, crouched down at the bottom of a ravine, the reunion you hadn’t exactly dreamt of but wanted for so long. Daryl’s body was bruised and broken with a bolt through his left side. “Daryl, come on. I need you to sit up so we can figure out whatever is happening here.”
Daryl forced himself to sit up, his breathing was ragged as he clenched his teeth. His hands held where the bolt had pierced his side. You gently placed your hands over his to move them, he flinched at the contact and then hissed in pain at his sudden movement.
“I need you to let me see, we need to pull it out so we can bind it properly.”
Daryl moved his hands away carefully as his eyes focused on you. You were certainly a welcomed distraction. How did you even find him? You were even more beautiful than he remembered, the way the light reflected off the water and bounced off your eyes, giving off a certain light themselves, the ones that could ignite the fire in his chest so instantly. He wondered if-
His thoughts were interrupted by you ripping the bolt through his side and proceeding to shove a piece of ripped cloth over the wound to limit the amount of blood loss.
“MOTHER FUCKING SHIT BASTARD!” He yelled before his brain could even process what was happening.
“There, that was easy right? Please tell me you have a camp around here, I hope you do because you need stitches and fast.” You slipped your belt off and wrapped it around his waist securing the cloth and again, limiting the blood flow even more.
“Yeah, I’m stayin on a farm.”
You and Daryl managed to make it up the sides of the ravine and made your way towards the farm. Daryl Was stumbling along, barely able to walk but pushing himself nonetheless. You stumbled as quickly as you could with your ankle now swelling to twice its usual size.  The farm was now in sight as you walked slowly behind Daryl, hobbling along at your own pace. Four men ran towards you and Daryl as you froze. Daryl was still slightly ahead of you when a man pointed a gun at his head.
“Third time ya pointed that thing at me. Ya gonna pull the trigger?” Daryl yelled.
At the sudden realisation that Daryl was not a walker, the attention was on you, the gun now aimed at your head.
“She’s with me.”
BANG
You closed your eyes, did they just shoot you? No, there was no pain. Your eyes opened to see Daryl now on the floor. The man who held the gun began yelling “NO!”
shit, shit, shit. You dove on the floor, checking where he was shot, the bullet grazed his head. Two of the men lifted Daryl up and began hurriedly walking towards the farm. Adrenaline pumped through you as your focus was now on a woman who ran towards the six of you.
“Oh my God, is he dead?” She asked.
“You the one that shot him?” Your focus quickly on her.
“I thought he was a walker.”
You walked up to the girl, your hand balled in a fist as your swung hard into her left cheek, sending her to the floor. “Fucking dumbass.” You limped away, towards the farmhouse as she remained on the floor, clutching her face.
An old man ran out of the house.  “Take him up to the spare room, I’ll get my kit.”
Daryl’s surgery was quick, a few stitches and some pain killers. Then the attention was on you again as you sat on the bed next to Daryl. Close but not close enough to be touching.
“Thank you for saving him, my name is Rick Grimes.” Rick extended his hand to shake yours.
“Y/n y/l/n and it’s no problem. When I saw it was Daryl, there was no way I was leaving him there.”
“You know Daryl?”
“We grew up together” Daryl interrupted.
You smiled at him. “I left for college just before everything went to shit, by the time I made it home, Daryl was gone.”
Daryl looked solely at you know. “If I knew ya’d be comin’ back to town, I would have waited for ya.”
“Daryl, I saw the state of our town, you were right to leave as soon as you could.” Your hand brushed his slightly before he pulled his hand away and up to his mouth, succumbing to his habit of chewing on the skin around his thumb.
Rick stood up from his chair, “I’m gonna go and get you guys some food, I’ll send Hershel back to look at your ankle, y/n”
“Thanks, Rick.”
Rick left the room leaving you and Daryl in there alone. You looked at the archer who was already looking up at you sending shivers down your spine. You reached gently towards his head, pushing his hair away from his bandage that wrapped around where the girl had shot him.
“Heard ya hit Andrea pretty hard.” Daryl chuckled.
“Yeah, I don’t know what came over me, I just, seeing you hurt and knowing she was the one that did it…”
“I know what ya mean, It’s like, remember when Johnny broke up with ya, back in high school?”
“Oh my God, yes, I was heart broken.”
“Ya remember how he came to school a couple of days later, with a broken nose and he said it was a-”
“A snowboarding accident. Yeah I remember.”
“Well it wasn’t, I went to his house that night, hit him square in the face, broke his nose and busted his lip in one hit.”
“Oh my God, Daryl.” You both laughed “He was such an asshole to me, I don’t know why I liked him so much.”
“Me neither, ya deserved so much better.” Your eyes locked with his as your hand moved from his hair down to his cheek. The tips of his ears burned red as you leaned down ever so slightly. His eyes flicked between your eyes and your lips.
Rick walked in with two plates of food, startling both you and Daryl, sending you off the bed and onto your bad ankle. You yelped in pain before sitting back down on the bed, both yours and Daryl’s cheeks flushing red.
“I uh, what was happening?” A slight smirk on Rick’s face
“Nothing!” You and Daryl responded in unison.
“Uhh, alright then, here’s your food, Hershel will be here in a sec to check your ankle.” Rick looked between the two of you, the smirk on his face grew.
You and Daryl ate your dinner in silence, pausing half way through your meal when Hershel, the old man, walked in. He examined your ankle and you winced.
“It’s not broken, just sprained, should heal itself soon but you should keep it elevated for the next couple of days. Unfortunately this is our only spare bed as Carl is in our other one.”
Daryl looked between you and Hershel “S’ okay, I’ll head back to my tent tonight.”
“Daryl, no. I can sleep on the chair, I’ll use the bed as a foot rest. It’ll be the best sleep I’ve had in a while, trust me.”
“I’ll let the two of you figure it out. Just keep it elevated.” Hershel left the room, leaving you and Daryl alone again.
“Take the bed, I’ll take the chair.” Daryl said as he tried to push himself out of the bed but struggled.
“You can hardly move, you take the bed, I’ll take the chair.”
“Nah, not happenin”
“I mean, we could both take the bed. If you’re okay with that.”
Daryl froze at your words. “It’s either that or I take the chair, Daryl.”
“Nah, I’ll move over, hold up.” Daryl shifted his body as close to the edge of the bed as he could. You moved yourself from your sitting position to under the covers, lying next to Daryl, far enough apart that you weren’t touching. Daryl reached over and flicked the lamp off as you got comfortable and closed your eyes. Your attempt to stifle a yawn didn’t work as you let the comfort of the bed surround you.
“Thanks for saving me.” Daryl mumbled.
“You would have done the same for me.”
It was true, he would go to the ends of the earth for you, do anything you asked him to. After all this time, his feelings for you never changed. Neither yours for him. You both fell asleep with ease, by the middle of the night you were tangled in each others arms.
You woke up as the first light settled in the room, you were definitely not in the position you had fallen asleep in, no, now your body was pressed up against his body, his arm was draped around you. Your stomach flipped with emotions. If it were up to you, you would stay in this position for eternity but what if he didn’t feel the same way. Surely he didn’t, the way he flinched every time you touched. But what about the moment the two of you shared last night. You were pulled from your thoughts as you felt him stir behind you slightly. You carefully removed his arm and pushed yourself back to the edge of the bed before he woke up.
He was already awake. He woke before you but remained still with his arm wrapped around you like he had always dreamt of. But when he felt you push away from him, he closed his eyes quickly and pretended to be asleep. You obviously didn’t want him touching you. Maybe you didn’t feel the same way about him. But what about the moment you shared last night?

When a Devil falls in Love.
Words count: 263
“When a devil falls in love, it’s the most hauntingly beautiful thing ever. And you should be terrified, for he will go to the depths of hell for her.”
I found this quote on pinterest and I had to turn it into a short fic so here you go!
You stared at the man before you. Your arms and legs were secured with ropes, keeping you still, unable to move and yet, you were calm.
“Are you scared of me?” The man traced his knife down your cheek, not enough pressure to cut you but enough that you could feel it. Your eyes now locked with his.
“No.”
He pulled the knife from your face and pressed it against your neck. “Why not? You should be.”
“Because he will find me.”
“You act as if this man is a knight in shining armour.”
“He isn’t. He’s a devil. When a devil falls in love, it’s the most hauntingly beautiful thing ever. And you should be terrified, for he will go to the depths of hell for her. He is a devil, and he is in love with me.”
The door swinging open forced the man off you as Daryl stood in the door way, the man went to lunge back at you before he was tackled to the ground by Daryl who landed hit after hit.
Daryl stood up, leaving what remained of the man on the floor before walking over to you and untying your restraints he hugged you tighter than he ever had. You pulled the rag out of his back pocket and wiped the blood off his hands. He put the rag back in his pocket as you placed your hands on his cheeks and kissed him deeply.
He checked you over for injuries quickly before you placed your hand reassuringly on his chest.
“I knew you’d find me.”
“I’d never leave ya.”

8. “Were you ever going to tell me?”
Word count: 211
Warnings: None
You watched as Rick pulled Daryl into a nearby cell away from earshot of the others. You paced towards it quickly, standing just outside and listening in on their conversation.
“Are you insane? You could have died Daryl and for what? A candy bar?” Rick whispered aggressively.
“They’re her favourite, she was telling me on guard duty the other day.”
“You’re ridiculous, you know that right.” Rick rolled his eyes.
“I love her, Rick. I’d do anything for her.”
“Then go and tell her.”
“Nah I can’t.”
Your eyes went wide at his confession, was he talking about you? You ran away quickly before they could catch you eavesdropping.
That night, you and Daryl had watch together up in the tower. You sat with your legs dangling over the edge as Daryl came and sat next to you, mirroring your actions.
You looked over at him. “How was your run today?”
“Nothin’ eventful really, got ya something though.”
Your stomach fluttered as he reached into his pocket and pulled out your favourite chocolate.
“Were you ever going to tell me?”
“Tell you what?”
“That you love me.” Daryl’s eyes shot up to meet yours before he looked away again, his hair covering his red cheeks. “Because I love you too.”

Scars
Summary: Daryl shows his scars to you for the first time in the shower and you make him feel safe. Set Alexandria season 5/6
Warnings: Daryl’s scars and mentions of Daryl’s abuse
Okay this is probably one of my all time favourite fics that I have written. There is something about showing love to Daryl that makes me feel so warm because he deserves so much love. Anyway, enjoy! Also I finally learnt how to use the keep reading button so I’m proud.
Word Count: 1076
You and Daryl had been together since the prison but you were inseparable from when you first met at the quarry. He followed you around from the first moment like a lost puppy. You knew how to keep him calm, even in his most riled up moments, there was something about you. Something about your presence that could calm him in an instant.
After spending so long on the road you were all ready to give up. Losing the prison broke you all, that was your safety, your home. After the prison, there seemed to be nothing, until Aaron found you all, and now here you all were, at Alexandria, building your lives again. You shared a house with half of your group and that was what made this place feel like home.
You stepped out onto the front porch, wrapped in a robe. Socks warmed your feet and a cup of tea warmed your hands. Daryl was sitting on one of the front chairs, a cigarette hung loosely from his lips as he fiddled with his crossbow. You stood and admired him, not daring to speak in case you ruined the moment, he was so beautiful when he concentrated on little things. You were lost in your thought when he finally broke the silence.
“What?”
“Hm?” You muttered, not realising how long you had been staring.
“What are ya lookin’ at?”
“You.”
His head lowered slightly to hide the tinge of red that stained his cheeks, a light shade of pink covering yours too. You had been together for a while but these moments always made your heart flutter like the first time you spoke. His heart rhythm matched yours.
“I’m gonna take a shower, you wanna join me?” Now his heart was beating faster, he could hear it in like a drum in his head, could you hear it too? He bit his lip and swallowed hard.
“Uh, we uh- I-” He stuttered.
“Daryl, you don’t have to, I just thought I’d ask. I don’t think you’ve showered since we got here.” You chuckled and you saw his mouth twitch up at your remark.
“M’kay, let’s go.”
You smiled as he put his crossbow down on the table next to him and followed you back into the house, looking like the same lost puppy of a man that you had fallen in love with so long ago. You led him upstairs and into the bathroom, turning to face him and placing your hands cautiously on his chest. He stiffened slightly at your touch, relaxing soon after. Even after all this time, he wasn’t used to gentle contact. He wasn’t used to being loved no matter how much you loved him, but he tried, and if it was even possible, he loved you more.
You ran your hands up his chest and began unbuttoning his shirt until it slowly slid off his frame. You placed a tender kiss above his collarbone and felt him shiver under your touch. You stepped back and he found himself start to move with you, unintentionally, like a magnet. You slipped your robe off, then pulled your shirt over your head. You both undressed entirely, standing in front of each other like this for the first time. You moved towards him slowly, placing your hands on his cheeks and pulling his lips down to meet yours, carefully. You broke away to turn the water on, both of you stepping in when the water was warm enough. You let the water run over you, your eyes finding the floor that was slowly discolouring with the dirt that ran off his body. Your eyes looked up to meet his but his eyes were closed as he enjoyed the feeling of the water on him. You grabbed a cloth with some soap and began washing his chest. His eyes opened and watched your every move carefully. You moved to his arms, making sure to run the cloth over every bit of dirt.
“Turn so I can clean your back.”
He froze, stiffened. You tried to read the look on his face but you had never seen it. He looked sad, worried, like his mind was racing. “Daryl, are you okay?”
His eyes softened as they met yours. “I never told ya, I should have, its just-it’s just hard.”
“You know you can tell me anything but you also know I would never do anything to make you uncomfortable so you don’t have to.”
“Nah, it’s okay.” He slowly began to turn around. “My dad, he used to, uh-” He turned completely, revealing his back and the scars that covered it. Your eyes wandered from his shoulders down to his lower back, focussing on each individual scar for a few seconds before you walked forwards and wrapped your arms around him. You felt his breath hitch and then release slowly, like he was letting go of something. “He used to get drunk and he would get angry. Sometimes he couldn’t get drunk and that would make him angrier. He would just let it out on Merle and me.” You felt him begin to shake slightly, you couldn’t see the tears rolling down his cheeks. “I’ve never shown ya cause I didn’t know how ya’d react.”
You pulled your head away from his back slightly to talk. “Daryl, these are part of your past, these are part of you. Part of what make you who you are, but they don’t define you so never let them consume you and don’t be ashamed of them.” You reluctantly pulled your arms away from him and he turned to face you, his hair covered his eyes. You reached up and pushed the hair away from his face and he leaned into your touch. “You are you because of your past but that is what it is. The past. You are here now, with me and I will never let anything happen to you. I love you Daryl Dixon and I will protect you the same way that you protect me.”
Now you saw the tears, he didn’t hide them.
“I love ya so much.”
You wiped the tears away and kissed his lips. He didn’t hide anything from you anymore.
You lost your safety when the Prison fell, at least you thought you did but you didn’t, your safety was standing in front of you and his safety was in front of him, his home, his love.
A/N I just loved this fic so much. P.S requests are officially open! feel free to message me and request a Daryl x Reader fic and I will do my best to fulfil it!

7. “You did what?!”
Warnings: None! Just pure fluff.
Word Count: 371
“Hey y/n”
“Hey Rick!”
“I told Daryl you would take guard duty in the watch tower with him tonight.”
The colour drained from your face as you turned back to face the Sheriff.
“You did what?!”
Rick chuckled at your reaction. “I see how much you stare at him whenever he does, well, anything. Don’t act like you're not secretly happy.” With that, he walked away.
You mumbled a soft ‘shit, shit, shit’ before running off towards your cellblock, changing your blood stained clothes to something somewhat cleaner. You wrapped your belt around your waist and secured your knife to it. Grabbing your rifle on the way out of your door you made your way over to the guard tower. You stood at the door in front of you and took three deep breaths before reaching your hand out and pushing the door open.
You walked slowly up the stairs before the smell hit you. Stew? Your stomach rumbled at the thought but why would there be stew here. You continued to walk up the stairs, turning the door handle and walking inside. You were met by candles, two bowls of fresh stew, a bottle of wine and Daryl, shifting his weight awkwardly from foot to foot, chewing on his thumb as he stared at you, waiting for a reaction.
“What is this?” You were stumped for words.
“Rick told me that ya liked me, I uh, I like ya too.” He bit anxiously at his bottom lip.
“Daryl, you did all of this?”
“Maggie and Beth helped. Carol cooked but I caught the deer.” He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “Do ya like it? It’s too much ain’t it, this was a stupid idea. I can take watch on my own. I-”
“Daryl stop. I love it. I just didn’t think you felt the same way about me, I’m still kinda in shock about that.”
Daryl smiled before walking cautiously over to you, he reached his hand out gently and grabbed yours, leading you over to the table where your dinner was. You two sat and ate, you laughed and shared stories. You connected. This was the first of a long line of memories with Daryl Dixon.

MY HEART 🥺🥺🥺 officially my favourite chapter in this series ❤️❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Words: 3,208 Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader Reader pronouns: she/her Era: Alexandria Warnings: None really! A/N: This is part of a series! Find the previous parts on the Masterlist! Summary: Y/N and Daryl hide from the world for a day.
Your name: submit What is this?
Surprisingly, you were the first to wake up again. Daryl was still wrapped around you, deeply asleep and you laid there for a little while, appreciating his weight, his warmth, his smell, before you began to stir. He shifted a little as you turned over so you were facing him. You smiled at the peaceful expression on his face and couldn’t help pressing a kiss to his lips.
“Mmm.” He responded with a sleepy noise and by more tightly pulling you into him. You pressed another kiss to his lips and his strong arms pulled you over on top of him as he rolled onto his back, holding you firmly against him, his eyes still closed.
“G’morning,” you whispered. You ran your fingers through his hair, pushing it away from his face and he leaned into the contact and sighed again. “I’ve never seen you this sleepy or relaxed,” you commented softly.
His hands ran down from your shoulder blades and pressed into the small of your back. “Mhm. Well, I ain’t ever had ya layin’ on top of me,” he said, the realization striking him suddenly as he said it aloud. He held you more tightly and you grinned. He still hadn’t opened his eyes.

6. “You can’t die. Please don’t die.”
Warnings: None, I promise he doesn’t die, I don’t think I could bring myself to write anything like that, like ever.
Word Count: 267
“Walker!” You heard Andrea yell from the top of the RV. You removed your knife from your sheath and started pacing to where she was pointing as Rick and the others ran off towards the Walker. “I bet I can nail it from here.” She murmured as she readied the rifle at her eye.
“Don’t be an idiot, they’ve got this.” You said as you walked steadily towards the incoming threat.
BANG.
You watched as Rick started yelling no, waving his hands frantically and before you knew it, you were running. You mind was whirring and you were just running. You finally caught up to where they were dragging the limp body of Daryl.
“Oh my God. No, no no.” You words came out merely as sobs. Andrea finally reached the rest of you but her pleads were drowned out by your weeping.
They carried him up to the spare room and laid him down on the bed where his body remained unconscious. Everyone paced around you but all you could see was him. Lying there, still. Was he breathing?
You sat gently next to him on the bed, careful as to not move his body too much. You placed your hand cautiously over his heart but your hand was too shaky to feel anything. You leaned in close, your lips near his ear as you whispered.
“Daryl, I don’t know if you can hear me, but I need you here. You can’t die. Please don’t die.”
Hershel was in the room within moments, placing his stethoscope over Daryl’s chest.
“I hear a heart beat. It’s steady.”

Reader pronouns: she/her A/N: Omg it’s so fluffy I’m gonna die! Judith came running into the kitchen where you were standing at the counter with a mug of tea, looking over some recent documents you had drafted with Maggie’s help. “Auntie! Auntie! I need your help!” She was in some whirl of excitement and you grinned down at her as she grabbed your hand in an attempt to pull you into the other room. “What? What is it? Another dragon need slaying?” you asked, bending down to look into her eager expression.  “No. I want you to make Uncle Daryl’s hair match mine!” she grinned, shaking her head to make her braids toss around. Your heart jumped in your chest. “Uncle Daryl’s here?” you asked. You were watching Judith at your house to give Rick a break.
