How do you know you are eating the right mix of foods and getting the right nutrients ? “Kinda, sorta” knowing and having actual numbers in front of you can be the main reason why your body may not be FEELING, LOOKING and RESPONDING as expected. Happy February friends! We made it through January and the crazy energy that came along with it. In the US , February kicks off the start of Black History month and of course, the very much over-hyped Valentine’s Day❤️ I say we use this “LOVE” focused month and challenge ourselves with doing something EVERY day to support ourselves and others. It doesn’t have to be something big - maybe it’s waking up every day and asking yourself “ what will I do today to help my physical, emotional, or mental well being. Maybe it’s going for a 10 minute walk, maybe it’s reading a chapter of that book you’ve been meaning to start, perhaps it’s learning something new about Black History, or perhaps learning how to substitute a processed treat ( we all have them) with something natural. It all counts and it doesn’t have to take long. The point is doing something for YOU. Go ahead and do this every morning. Do you have something you want to let go of or burn away?... . Part of why SOULFIT THEORY was born was to have a way to deal with the mental and emotional trauma we ALL have. Yes, we all have it. Who here hasn’t had bouts of fear, self doubt, self-loathing, shame? Eventually our bodies begin to mirror these feelings, manifesting in the way of ailments, injuries, weight gain/loss, insomnia, diseases. Our thoughts have power and why wouldn’t our bodies eventually start listening to what we are thinking? This is why we work on both the body and the mind. Because we NEED it. It’s the only way to address what’s lying underneath the surface- to work on healing rather than slapping a band-aid on it. And guess what, you are not alone. I’m right there with you guys. Who here wants 3 simple ways of resisting the holiday baked goods and sweets?🙋🏻‍♀️..... . . If you are like me, (who finds it hard to stop once you get going) then the best thing to do is 1) Don’t buy them! I swear this will work. If it’s not in your house, then you are not eating it at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 9pm, 910pm, 925pm, 950pm, 10pm... you get my drift. Lol. . 2) Get a healthier alternative. I’m not a cook or a baker but I’ve managed to find tons of easy, 10 min healthy recipes that satisfy my sweet tooth! Either make a healthier version of your favorite treat or surround yourself with healthier, natural sugar alternatives (berries and cream/ yogurt anyone?) . 3) There are times when the heart wants what the heart wants! So if you want that dessert, I say make it a great one- a delicious French tart or a decadent chocolate cake you can only get at a restaurant or bakery.
