in addition to this great thread, i recommend reading “how the irish became white” by noel ignatiev.  i do expect a lot of fighting against these facts because these lies and myth are so ingrained and now have become a part of the community and the sense of self and pride of irish people.

hard pill to swallow: the idea that your ‘soulmate’ or ‘the one’ will know exactly how to make you happy without you ever having to communicate is fake. the fantasy that you will have all your needs met in a relationship without ever having to be vulnerable is fundamentally not true. sometimes you have to express your needs and desires, you have to ask for things, you have to communicate how you want to be loved, it’s uncomfortable and clumsy but relationships are about learning to love each other not being a mind reader

There is no “most important” part of the queer community. What I mean is, being gay, being bi, being a lesbian, etc., is all a major part of the community and is extremely important, but someone who’s in the community for a different reason is not suddenly less queer on principle. Straight trans people, straight and/or cis aspecs, etc, are just as important and welcome as anyone else.

These people are not the enemy, nor are they “secret invaders”, they’re members of the community.

Posts like the one OP mentions are what I made my binding post about. I have talked to every doctor I’ve had, and NONE of them have claimed in ANY way that binding can at all affect your chances of being able to have surgery.

If you somehow managed to get welts (not a thing I have ever heard of as a result of binding) then you’d have to wait for them to go away, but that’s literally it.

There are NO known complications from binding that could make you “ineligible” for top surgery. If you’re concerned, ask your doctors. If you don’t trust your doctors, ask whatever trans adults you can find- especially ones you know in irl groups.

t*rfs also like to twist the fact that there’s little long-term medical research into transitioning (for both trans women and trans men) in order to abuse and frighten trans men into detransitioning (which, btw, often leads to the suicidal depression that dysphoria causes and transitioning alleviates!)
