Cannot express how disinterested I am in seeing traumatized characters "reconcile" with their canonically shitty parental figures.

“I think it’s because the minute they [poets] are dead all of their poems about death become poems about being alive.”
— Mary Ruefle, from her essay “Short Lecture on the Dead” (from “Madness, Rack and Honey”, Wave Books, 2012)

Happy October! Hopefully this is as good a month as it is a creepy one!
As always, more in depth horoscopes below the cut
Aries: This month has you in all your passionate, determined glory. You're led by your emotions, finding you confident in your feelings and in the way you communicate them- and once you figure out what it is you want, you're able to go for it without hesitation. This month is also going to grant you access to new experiences and paths. Read a book about difficult decisions in the face of new understandings or new desires.
Taurus: October has you feeling confident and ready. You've got big ideas and big goals, and you're able to lean on the connections you have without worry. You're a bit daydreamy this month, as you look towards your desired next steps and consider different ways forward, but less active. Just try to spend a little time seeing things from a different perspective. Try a book centered around distractions and exploration, taking on new experiences in order to learn something new.
Gemini: Gemini, this month you're feeling confident and passionate. You've got a shot of energy thanks to your own motivations, and you're able to follow through on plans. However, you may find it hard to deal with deadlines or endings, and your goals are more dreamy and far away than active. Try a story about someone with big desires and plans, and what happens when they are suddenly taken away.
Cancer: This month has you trying to balance. As you look to release and to plan for the future, you're looking at compromises. Right now you have to decide what to bring and what to leave, and where your priorities lie. But once that work is done, motivation kicks in and lets you get passionate about what is left. Read a story about someone moving past a negative situation, and allowing help to guide them in the next steps.
Leo: October may have you feeling a little untethered. You're not in a place where you want to be vulnerable, so you've got a bit of a wall up and a bit of a disconnect. This month you have trouble dealing with your own desires and with making any kind of plans. However, you're in an active place, and able to connect well with others as well as explore what is in front of you. Read a book about someone who wants to forget or ignore a bad experience, but must face it for the future.
Virgo: This month has you feeling enthusiastic and focused on love and happiness. You're confident this month, Virgo, and passionate. The only downside is that your plans feel more far off than ready to be put into action, and you're not too timely during October. But action can be dealt with later, enjoy the dreaminess while you can! You need a hopeful book about newness and growth, as well as love.
Libra: You're ready for change. October finds you ready to explore and with some big new ideas and/or goals, as well as a desire to communicate them. As you think about what you want to do going forward and consider different plans, just make sure you're not getting stuck in one mindset. It might be hard for you to try out different points of view this month, but that's exactly why you should be. Read a story about unexpected power and big plans.
Scorpio: You know what you want this month, Scorpio, and feel very confident in who you are and what your strengths are, but you're still a bit lost. October finds you struggling with how to communicate your desires or feelings, and how to best act on them. Read a story about someone who feels trapped learning to use their power to break free.
Sagittarius: This is a good month for you, Sagittarius, and you're feeling confident. You know your abilities, and are even able to get and stay motivated in order to really use them. You've got an easy luck with communication and are surrounded by love. Try a story about the start of something big, and gathering support in the face of those who would use you.
Capricorn: You're more internal this month, and may need some validation- which just means you need to ask for it. You feel loved this month, and can get comfort from your own love and those around you, but you're feeling uncertain and a lack of confidence may have you at a stand still. Read a story about someone who has had big dreams and desires, but is not ready for the reality of them.
Aquarius: Scorpio's influence on you this month has you looking at your wants, and letting them push you into some new situations. You're passionate this month, but also very dreamy. A desire to explore and dream up new possibilities has you spending a lot of time in your head. Try a book about strength and hope, different perspectives and ideas.
Pisces: You're in a hazy state of mind this month, Pisces. There's a dreaminess in the air that only adds to your own usual dreaminess, as well as a passion/determination that will feel more aimless for you. Decisions are cropping up everywhere, but instead of running with them, be patient. Look to your own goals and be sure of them, and your decisions, first. Your love situation may feel difficult to understand or work with, but give it time. You need a book about being willing to look backwards to find answers for the future, instead of starting from scratch or building on bad decisions.

Classic Novels as John Mulaney Quotes
Brave New World: I’ll keep all my emotions right here and then one day I’ll die.
Little Women: Which is funny because I’m probably gay based on the way I’ve walked and talked for 28 years
The Great Gatsby: I had to stop drinking because I would black out and ruin parties
Frankenstein: I also don’t want me to be doing what I’m doing
Lord of the Flies: Thirteen year olds are the meanest people in the world
To Kill a Mockingbird: I’ve never talked to my dad about that, but I figured I would tell all of you
The Picture of Dorian Gray: Was there ever a ghost mother? Or was the dead victorian girl me all along?
Animal Farm: He’s allowed to do that? It feels like he shouldn’t be allowed to do that.
