pretty skies & so much to revise

good morning, my dudes.

i have my to-do lists ready, i have already downed two coffees and it's not even 9 am. i have so much to revise and not enough time!! i slowly feel the panic consume me already. but then, it could just be the coffee.

i really hope to finish the 5 tasks on my to do lists. it is a bit of a reach. i like to set my targets slightly out of reach so i can push myself. i know it won't work for everyone. but hey, to each his own, right?

also, i've heard great things about pomodoro, but it just doesn't work for me. 25 minutes is too short and the 5 minute break inevitably pulls me away from the task at hand. i usually prefer studying till i finish the task or till i feel like my brain is leaking out of my ears.

what method do you use to study? does the pomodoro work for you?

hey, just wanted to know how you all managed to push through the bad days?

How do you study when you know the world is falling into pieces? How do you stay productive when the ambulance noises drown out the lofi chill beats?

I have a very important, career defining exam coming up and somehow I cannot seem to give it my 100%. I've tried the pomodoro method, I've tried zoom study sessions, I've tried live study with me's. I'm so close to giving up and just can't find the motivation.

Would love to hear some of your tips!

arghhh, today was not the best of days.

I revised a couple of chapters and went through 100+ pages of hand written notes. I made flashcards for my ethics module and I also wrote some more notes.

But not at all satisfied! Might have to pull an all nighter just to tick off a couple more items.

is it all about the aesthetics?

So much of studyblr, studygram and studytube is about the aesthetics.

the pristine white desk, the immaculate calligraphy, the hand written notes that look like they are printed and not a stroke out of place, the expensive technology in the form of Macbook Airs and the latest iPads, paid software like Goodnotes & Noteability. the "casual" desk flat lays with every angle carefully measured for that perfect shot. the rainbow assortment of muji pens and highlighters and of course a classic fjallraven kanken.

Without shitting on the above, I would love to see some "authentic" studyblrs. Show us the mess, the rough edges, the imperfections. The closed window because your house sits on the main road and the traffic is too loud and the view isn't that great! your trusty laptop. the cheap pens that get the job done. the notes you make in a good old fashioned campus notebook, the not-so-aesthetic texbooks and a highlighter. the scrawled notes and the mistakes we make along the way.

Studyblr should be about inclusivity - anyone who wants to study is welcome. Anyone who wants to be motivated, to want to do better. You don't have to have the "perfect" study set up! You just need the desire to be better than you were yesterday.

For so long, I have been so afraid that my study tools / notes will be judged for not being pretty. But I think I need to get over it now. I am lucky I get to learn, I get to study and educate myself while so many people around the world don't have the opportunity.

this is my first ever studyblr post. i have gazed through the window for far too long but decided to knock on the door! (i sure hope someone opens the door)

what subjects are you currently studying?

i am doing a specialised, professional course in taxation, finance and law. so, i have modules on financial reporting, corporate valuation, corporate law, taxation laws, financial management, ethics module (blergh), performance evaluation, cost management etc.,.

what's one country you'd like to visit?

oh so many. i would love to visit europe again and backpack this time! and i do want to visit south america!

favourite book:

HMM, i really cannot choose! it's so hard. i love me some good non-fiction like sapiens / everybody lies/ humans (a brief history of how we f*cked it up). but i also love me some great pop-fantasy like GoT, LoTR, Harry Potter. loooove some cheap thrills - anything by sidney sheldon, jeffrey archer, ms. agatha christie, stephen king.

all time fave though, i think i would have to say 'A thousand splendid suns' by khaled hosseini

probably older than the average studyblr age haha! i am 22.
