Ollie was like her dad, or rather what her dad should’ve been, but it felt weird to say that to his daughter “--my mentor. But from another universe. It’s not exactly a normal Tuesday.”

Roy shrugs his shoulders for a moment as he looks at his younger sister. “I know it does. It’s a miracle I don’t break a hip jumping across buildings.” The redhead teases as he shifts his stance while standing there — arms crossing over his chest. “I’m sorry, I just worry.”

Mia laughed. “As long as you know it. At least Ollie can afford that hip replacement, right?” Mia softened as Roy admitted his worry. It was a reminder that, despite not being related by blood--or even being from the same universe--Roy was family. He was family, because he actually cared about her, more than her biological family ever had. She sighed and turned her leg so he could see the bruising and scraping. It looked worse than it was, really. “See? I’m fine.”

The thought made him cringe instantly, shaking his head to brush it off. “You hopefully won’t need to act on it.” He hoped, prayed even, that was the fact. Not many good things were in his life, Roy and Lian were the best. He could only hope that he did right by them and never hurt them. He’d never forgive himself. Jason let out a long groan and gave Mia a grim look. “It’s the worst. Honestly. Janet wants me to go to some weird dinner with the other husbands and boyfriends. Like, why? What’s the point? All they’ll do is bitch about their wives and girlfriends then expect me to join in. Straight people are so fucking weird.” 

Mia hoped so too. She wanted Roy to be happy, Jason made him happy, and she’d only have to kick Jason’s ass if that changed for some reason. But they both seemed to deserve something good like this. Even if Jason could be an asshole sometimes. She snorted as Jason told her about the dinner Janet wanted him to attend. “They are weird. And I guarantee, at least some of them who bitch about their wives are cheating too. Trust me.” She shrugged.

He was almost thirty after all — a year and a half away from the milestone. “Are you sure it’s just a scratch? Let me see!”

Mia laughed. “Your reaction gives you away,” she pointed out. So Roy wasn’t that old, but he was five years older than her. Old enough for her to poke fun at. Especially given he was a father too. “I’m sure. Ugh, you’re worse than Oliver.”
