It’s been a while but this is a book I finished recently and I really enjoyed it!
Aurora Rising was awesome. I’m really not a fan of stories that revolve around space and intergalactic travel, but this one really hooked me. I loved the characters and the story reminded me a lot of Castle in the Sky. (Strange, I know) If you have not read this yet I would highly recommend it!

Timekeeper Trilogy - Tara Sim
I don’t really have words to describe how I feel after finishing this amazing series. I’m emotionally spent after reading Firestarter (the last book in the trilogy) and I can’t help but think that this series deserves sooooo much more. For starters, it’s got good representation, an amazing story, and holy heck some good plot twists. I love this series so much, despite me crying my way through the last chapters of Firestarter, and honestly everyone should read this series!! It’s a historical steampunk adventure with a story that won’t ever let you down.

Bloom - Kevin Panetta & Savanna Ganucheau
Bloom, baby!
This was awesome! I loved all the characters and the story dynamic. Bloom is full of representation and has an incredible story filled with new love and finding your true passion. (And lots of baking!) The art and colour style is so intersting and this is definitely a graphic novel that is underrated. It should get so much more love! (Also: loved the Yuri!!! On Ice reference!)

Mammoth - Jill Baguchinsky
Yet another book that has been better than expected.
Mammoth was so cool! The story was so interesting and included real life issues with women in the science field and body image. I really liked how the author included those elements while still making a story that made you feel *all* the feels. I enjoyed every bit of this book and I’m so glad I found it! (This is your cue to go read Mammoth)

Geekerella - Ashley Poston
Hi
I’d like to introduce you to my newest obsession:
This book
Holy smokes, this book is awesome! This modern take on the classic fairy tale Cinderella makes the whole story feel so familiar yet so different. I loved all of the characters and their growth throughout the book. This book has good representation too!! (Not as much as I would hope but, it’s better than nothing!) This is something that often doesn’t get addressed in fairy tale retellings and it’s so refreshing! So hey, if you need a quirky and fun read that’s full of amusing characters and a cool story line, give Geekerella a try!

Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel - Val Emmich, Steven Levenson, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul
This book is wow. (It’s so good that I’m having a lack of vocabulary!) Dear Evan Hansen, (if you’ve seen the play or read the book) is the story of not just Evan and his troubles. It’s the story of the connections between people that can mean so much, if it just means that they can be heard and listened to. I loved the fact that we got to see the explanation behind some of the events through Connor’s eyes. This gave a new perspective on events in the book when we’d normally be seeing it through Evan’s eyes. The message of this book is so simple yet we forget it so often. This book is one that shouldn’t be missed.

This is Kind of An Epic Love Story - Kheryn Callender
I can’t tell if I liked this book or not. I mean, the story was okay, just not as epic as the title implies. At some points however, I really felt like the author had gotten everything right about being in a relationship, but other times I just felt like things fell short. I feel like I need more content to better understand the characters, it just feels like there is so much more to this story. In the end, it’s like I’m missing something about all the characters and the development. However, the story itself has a lot of potential! I think that if the book was a little longer, things might be a little better.

Speak - Laurie Halse Anderson
I’ve read both the novel and the graphic novel for this story. And boy, it’s a good one. Speak explores the complex and challenging physical and mental blocks after a traumatic event. Melinda’s story tells us that staying silent is harder than speaking up and that speaking up can help you find peace within yourself and the situation. Both the graphic novel and the novel give the most realistic depictions I have seen about starting high school and the imagery in the graphic novel is just haunting. (In a good way!) Speak is about finding yourself, recovering from a traumatic experience and growing as a person. This is a rare item in YA and everyone should read it.

Dumplin’ - Julie Murphy
I have no words to say about this book. It is fantastic. Everything. The messages and the story are such important things that we need to know and... it’s just so good. It’s being turned into a movie and I couldn’t be happier. The message of this book needs to be shown in all media and should be engraved in everyone’s heads. It’s amazing. In case it wasn’t obvious enough, you should read this book if you haven’t already.

Wildcard - Marie Lu
I did it! I finally read Wildcard, and let me just say, this was certainly a wild ride, (No pun intended). If this series was an iceberg, Warcross would be the tip and Wildcard would be everything underneath. I heard some pretty divided reviews on this one and I think the main reason for that is because we don’t see much of the Warcross games in Wildcard. But, we do get to see the entire backstory of Hideo and Zero and what led to the creation of the Neuro-Link. I personally loved it. It was different from the first book and it was still filled with the action and heart-stopping twists, (and there are a lot) that are expected after a book like Warcross. It was so good!

Breaks - Emma Vieceli and Malin Rydén
Wow look I read a graphic novel! In all honesty, this novel was really interesting to say the least. It wasn’t good or bad, it was just different. The plot itself is pretty interesting and the art style is so different from other graphic novels that I’ve read. I’m not sure if this started out as a webcomic or not but I really want to read the second volume,(if there is one). It’s just that kind of story that makes you want to keep reading no matter what.

THIS
This book. Is. Everything. It was so awesome. The story and characters where so refreshing and the writing something else. I loved Arthur and Ben’s story!! They are the epitome of awkwardness and give the most realistic depiction of finding your footing in a relationship. They are also the CUTEST. I love them will all my heart. Even though the story seemed predictable at first, it changed in such a way that it felt so real. I wish Ben and Arthur’s love was real! Make yourself happy, feel some love and read this book.

Want - Cindy Pon
I’m not the biggest fan of Sci-Fi but this book was, in a word, awesome. (I feel like I’m a little late with reading this one) The futuristic world of Tapei gave an all-too-real look into what the world might become. I loved how the author included the aspects of environmental awareness and what we stand to lose if we don’t take care of our planet. I’m just gonna say, everyone should read this book... it’s really good

History Is All You Left Me:
Feel like having your heart broken and then put back together? History Is All You Left Me was quite a different kind of story. The unique plot and the issues brought up proved to be quite a refreshing book. I quite enjoyed it despite it making me cry every two chapters..

Warcross
Really did not think I would like this one, but I am happy to say that I was wrong. I’m not usually one to indulge in the Sci-Fi genre but, I think Warcross has turned me onto it. This book is filled with action from begging to end. It’s fast-paced with a killer twist at the end that leaves you wanting more. Honestly thank god there’s a sequel to this. I will definitely be reading it when it comes out. The characters and plot are fantastic and it’s just all around one of the best books I have read in a while. Go read it!!
(Wildcard, the sequel to Warcross is coming out on September 18th 2018!!)

The Diviners, Lair of Dreams & Before the Devil Breaks You
Wow. I read this series this summer and wow. It’s pretty good to say the least. I love the story so much and it was really exciting, scary, unpredictable, (and other assorted adjectives). The main cast is filled with diverse characters that are scarcely found in YA paranormal books. If you have the chance to read this series I highly recommend it! In other words: go read this series, you will not regret it
Also: At the moment it’s a 3 book series but the 4th book is coming out sometime in the future.

Undead Girl Gang
Believe it or not, that’s a book cover. I’m not really into the zombie genre so maybe that’s why I didn’t like it? Honestly to me it felt really predictable as to where the story was going.
