Layla,
Here I am again,
A thousandth time over.
Yet you have never turned away your face
Never cast me out of your grace
You always gaze upon me
With such hope
Will you embrace me once more
As I grab hold of your rope
And pull me towards you
And cast me not away
And although I am hasty
You are patient
The light you see in me
It came from you
So bring it out
As you breathed it in
Make my devotion shine for you.

One sees an image
Another sees it on film
Another through the window
Another feels its warmth beneath the sky
Another burns in its heat
Another ceases to be.
They are not the same.

Wake up
From your slumber
You who have been heedless
Allow the light to rouse your heart
The spring has now arrived
Those who stood guard for the winter
Prepare to soar to the skies

You bring life to the dead
You turn the night into day
Revive for us our dying hearts

Of years and of days I have no concern
The flame of my love forever shall burn;
He turns the day to night
And the night into day;
Everything perishes, my Lord,
Only You shall remain.

I’m no longer broken. The year is nearly over.
I’m now crushed.
At least you cannot you harm the dust.
Wrong.
You can grind it further finer, set it then on fire,
There might come a point
Where it seems no more to exist,
But rest assured,
The pain was never visible.

All this time
You were being made;
You see, development doesn’t end in the womb:
This world has been made for you to grow towards Him;
It’s so you see Him in everything and forget all that is you.

If breaking my heart will fix my soul
Then do it.
Tear it into shreds, cut me into pieces,
Do whatever it takes to make me whole.

There was this boy. His father was never in his life. He spent all his time around his mother. She would dress him in her favourite colours. She would feed him her favourite food. He learned to speak like her and use her every turn of phrase. His voice would dance up and down just as hers in every way. He even learned to laughed like her. Then the boys at school made fun of his laugh. They tormented his innocent wholehearted giggle. So at first he began to change the way he expressed his joy. He began to laugh less and deeper when he did. Then he forced his “ha-ha-ha” when the situation demanded it to join in, mock, and laugh at other high-pitched boys. Soon he forgot what it felt to experience heartfelt laughter. His smiles turned into scornful smirks; his eyes searching for ways to inflict hurt. At first he had begun to change the way he looked for joy. Now he has forgotten what it was once like to be a cheerful boy.

Salaamun Alaykum. I pray you are well. Your writing is absolutely beautiful, simple and heart-touching. May Allah continue to bless you and may He and the Imam(ajtf) accept your efforts.
Wa’alaikum salaam. It’s always lovely to get a message on here even though I’m not too actively posting currently (more active on instagram). May God bless you and grace you with proximity to him in this world and the next ❤️❤️

“He's been waiting for you to ask
So that He can give;
He does not need your punishment
But He loves to forgive.”
There is a line in the Whispered Prayer of Imam Ali (as) that he used to recite in the the month of Sha’ban which, when I finally understood it, opened my eyes to the vastness of God’s mercy.
The Imam says in the prayer, “If you had intended to humiliate me, you would not have guided me.” Guided me to what? At the most basic level, to His remembrance; to asking for His forgiveness after doing wrong; and, If you read the prayer itself, to loving him no matter what.
If God had desired anyone’s destruction, it was more than easy for him. But no, time and time again, God let’s you continue to live so that you might turn back to him. Tawbah, the Arabic word for repentance, literally means to turn back. “And God loves those who turn back.” (Quran 2:222)

It’s hard to please people–
No, rather it impossible
When you dance for the heavens
And neither do your words resonate with them
Nor can they hear you sing.
I do not complain.
The beloved is enough for me:
He forgives the ignorant,
He loves the strangers.

If he is better than me
Who am I to question God’s distribution of grace?
If I seem better than him
How dare I deny God’s covering of my wretched state?
