“No room for genocide.” The African Union expels Israel and removes its observer status at its sessions. Immediately.

it broke today that biden airdropped aid to gaza. other than the fact that this is an obvious pr move ahead of his re-election campaign, i think it's important to stress how ineffective this method is compared to just allowing humanitarian aid to come through. airdrops carry far less aid than truck convoys, for one, and require an airdrop zone with a lot of idealistic conditions that don't often coincide. this is a major reason why you hear a lot of airdrops being conducted at beaches--and why a lot of them have been blown to the sea. and what's even more dangerous about that is that a lot of these palestinians are malnourished, starving, in a delirious state of mind. many of them are so utterly hungry that they'd be willing to swim through just to get their hands on a sodden meal. but apparently this is the best thing the us, which literally funds israel's ongoing genocide, can do for palestinians at the moment.

Repost of Instagram post by alessandra_sanguinetti:
“In 2004 I worked as an intern in Newsweek and had to go through the wires coming in from the Middle East.
The Iraq war was raging. Israel was committing its routine violations and killings.
The images were devastating and unequivocally condemning of both the USA and Israel, but I remember the editors would reject all my picks and demand images of burnt cars or vague images of destruction.
So I brought a hard drive and collected everything they didn't publish.
It was my first live glimpse of the lack of ethics or integrity in most US media.
Not the journalists on the ground, but of the senior editors making the calls - in their self important glass cubicles.
And no, to the cynics out there..it's not all too complicated to discuss on social media.
Social media is the only reason we know what's happening in Palestine.
And the only reason mainstream news has to keep up and sprinkle some actual news now and then.
Meanwhile we are seeing much less footage coming out of Gaza - Israel has been killing off all the journalists.
This is terrifying.”

it's cold today and the sky is pearl silver. im thinking about how g-d decided to be born as the child of a teenage mother. a refugee. a jew. a palestinian. an unhoused person. a displaced person. someone living under cruel rulership. under violent colonization. so g-d saw the suffering of man and said, let me see how it feels. curious about the various absences of human flesh (the space in a ribcage, a heart, a stomach, a wound). g-d saw the suffering of man and saw that it was unjust. g-d saw the flesh of humanity and saw that it was good.

the flour massacre is ongoing. it is everyday. it was not an isolated event. it was not even the first time israel shot at and killed palestinians going for aid (they do it whenever they allow aid through). in fact, they did the exact same thing yesterday morning. just because smaller-scale murders go under the radar for lack of shock factor doesn’t mean they’re not happening continuously.

The Israeli occupation and all those funding/supporting it are the real terrorists that need to be fought against.

As an Arab who grew up in the 90's and 2000's, the resurgence of Anti-Arab racism and Islamophobia doesn't really surprise me.
Let’s not sit here and pretend like westerners didn't normalize hating brown folks after 9/11. Everyone loves to talk about how "united" they felt after 9/11, but nobody ever talks about all the Arabs and South Asians who were attacked and harassed during that time period.
It is kinda fascinating watching folks who are liberal when it comes to most political issues go mask off whenever the subject of the Palestinian Israeli conflict comes up.
Either that or they pull a "Both sides" argument to try and justify a literal genocide.
Just a sad reminder that racism is not only still alive but is gradually being normalized.
