I’m sure all of you noticed my week-long absence, or didn’t…

Anyways, do I have a funny story for all of you that at the time was absolutely traumatizing and terrifying. Sit back, relax, get a drink and make sure to not spill it all over your PC as I tell you the tale of how I almost lost everything...

So, I have an extremely expensive laptop that I use for everything and do not remember a life without. That laptop contains every digital thing I have ever owned on it, from phone pictures, to drawing templates, to my entire 1000-file fully animated character that is organized in 50 folders and took about 256 hours to make. You can see where this is going, right?

So, by Sunday the 22nd, I was already experiencing extreme burnout because everyone does, right before summer, am I right? I mean, what better time to strike an innocent guy with a disaster, right Devil?

I decided to take a break from doing anything for two days after Sunday, and then, BAM, disaster! On Tuesday, I had finally started feeling better, and I remember sitting down on my office chair with my vitamin water. I was typing on a Microsoft Word document when I reached over carefully to get my drink, and I tipped it over and tried to grab it but that only made it launch across my keyboard and spill all over my Razer keyboard, Logitech mouse, HDMI plugs connected to my monitor, multi plug adapter, multi plug adapter beneath my table, my laptop keyboard and somehow the wifi adapter inside my laptop. All that equipment right there cost at least 3,000$, and I started twilighting hard if you know what I mean.

Long story short, I used a blowdryer on all of my stuff, and next thing I know, my laptop wont turn on anymore. Can you imagine the amount of dread and panic I must have felt at that moment? All of that work possibly gone forever all of a sudden. Fortunately, my laptop didn’t explode and didn’t start smoking, so there was a chance I could prevent a trip to BestBuy. Two huge sacks of rice later, my laptop is completely covered and ready to dry for the next two days. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures because I was sure it was toast. Can you imagine two days of anxious waiting to receive potential news that you may never play on those unsaved Minecraft worlds again? Never see those dumb pictures of you as a kid again? And never see all of that artwork you worked on in the highest possible quality again?

Two days later, I took the laptop out and found that it was able to be turned on. I had already bought one of those storage devices and immediately started transferring all of the laptop’s files so that I would never lose them if an accident like this ever happened again. Of course, there are still consequences to spilling vitamin water all over your electronics:

My wifi adapter broke, and my laptop could no longer use wifi at all. I had to get a new one, and now the internet on the laptop is way slower.

My laptop charger broke, and I had to buy a new one.

My multi plug adapter broke, and now I have to get a new one.

My laptop keyboard is extremely sticking and is very hard to type on without an adaptor keyboard.

My laptop can no longer turn off while it’s plugged into a charger. I have no idea how to fix this, and I think I’m going to have to live with it.

There is FREAKING rice rattling inside my laptop. HOW DID IT GET IN THERE? HOW DO I GET IT OUT?

I couldn’t post anything on Tumblr for a long time. I’m so sorry, everyone! Thanks for bearing with me!

Moral of the story: Electronics and water don't mix.
