Having a traumatic childhood means you cannot talk even objectively about your basic foundational experiences without it being "venting", even if you're not actually venting. You just straight up have a huge chunk of your life you can't talk about, full stop, without it being trauma dumping.

And it not being socially acceptable to talk about your own childhood is super alienating. Sometimes people want to know why, and any answer you can give them is going to be off putting.

It's to the point I get irritated when something I said is framed as venting when I'm literally just talking about my life experiences, doing my best to keep emotion out of it.

#I had a court case during high school and had to move schools #which is fundamentally part of my childhood y'know #like. divorced parents have been a part of my life since I was 3 #that's just how I grew up. I don't want pity or anything. that's just how it is. #life sucked ass back then and life sucks ass now but im trying my best and it sucks that current times are defined by my childhood #and what I was taught #idk #this is a solid post from op and I really appreciate it #and I really hate people telling me that too #it's been my WHOLE LIFE I can't exactly ignore it. it's a part of me always and forever. all I can do is have a lil treat and exist.
