You know what I love and hate about MXTX novels? It's that by the end of the story the main antagonist is defeated and the main couple is together and living happily, but ONLY the main couple. All the other problems can go screw themselves. Oh there's this guy who's whole soul is devoted to this one person but he lost him forever and never got to mourn? Cool cool, here's some Bingqiu smut. Oh what's this? The aftermath of a really bad event and multiple people left brokenhearted and unfulfilled? Nah how about some Hualian fluff, you'll love it. Broken relationships? Death? Mourning? What's closure? Never heard of it.

I'm telling you a love story between these two guys and even the world burning down won't stop me, and once their story is over who cares if everything has been reduced to ashes? Look they're kissing now!

MXTX books ranked on least gay to gayest (spoilers)

3) MDZS: Not saying that it’s not really gay because it definitely is. Lan Wangji is the second gayest gay to ever gay in a MXTX books and Wei Wuxian invented disaster bisexual. It’s also got murder twinks in spades, something which the other books lacked (my disappointment is immeasurable) which is both very gay and very sexy of it. Xiao Xingchen managed to score the classic black/white dynamic with not one but TWO men. Also, Guanyin Temple made everyone forget that XiYao weren’t actually the main couple or a couple. Still it’s the MXTX book with the most straights and unlike the other two, most of the character didn’t necessarily give off particularly queer vibe, making it the least gay MXTX book (forgive me, Hanguang-jun). 7.5/10, would have gotten another point had Baoshan Sanren and Lan Yi had been girlfriends in the novel too.

2) TGCF: While this book has some straights, the sheer amount of non-straights more than makes up for it. MXTX really fucking decided to pull a ‘Free!’ and give every single character a boyfriend. FengQing have daily homo-erotically charged fights that have more often than not almost turned into heated make-out sessions (not that they’d admit it). Yin Yu once hit Quan Yizhen on the head with a shovel and it was awesome (only if he didn’t keep running away, Shixiong come back-). There’s even an old gay divorced couple. Hua Cheng did not need to go so hard on his simping for that one guy who was nice to him a few times but he did and that’s so sexy of him. Also, Hua Cheng’s kinda overall super gay, with his Mary Poppins Umbrella that Xie Lian gave to him along with a crush that would last lifetimes, and his butterflies and his sword which was made out of his eye (yes, that’s also gay, no, I will not be elaborating). I mean, no guy who goes that hard on aesthetics is straight. Also this book has Shi Qingxuan. Nothing more needs to be said. 800/10, did the ‘gay love saves the day’ troupe better than BingQiu.

1) SVSSS: It was extremely tough to determine which MXTX novel was the gayest but SVSSS won out. Even the straights are gnc. Cucumber bro invented homophobic gay. Every single person was at least a little bit in love with him (even his boyfriend’s dad was a little into him), making him the closest an MXTX character ever came to having a harem. I mentioned how Lan Wangji was the second gayest gay to ever gay in a MXTX book and that’s because the first spot belongs to Liu Qingge. My man was literally faced with like a dozen naked succubi and did not bate a fucking eye before proceeding to beat them all up (leading Shen Qingqiu to believe he was impotent) but will turn into a tsundere mess everytime he touches Shen Qingqiu’s fan. Also, can we also talk about how the first thing the girls did when gaining more than one braincell was stop being attracted to Luo Binghe? Good for them, get the better taste that Shen Qingqiu severely lacks. But the thing that truly solidifies SVSSS as the gayest MXTX book is the fact it’s the only MXTX book with more than one canon couple. Airplane bro’s self-inserts fanfics that probably didn’t see the light of day since he killed Shang Qinghua off before anyone could be the wiser paid off and his husband at least has the potential to get better at sex so fuck off, Cucumber bro. PIDW number of chapters/10, everyone thank Shen Qingqiu for saving PIDW with Shen Jiu’s fine booty and a better personality.

One of my favourite things in MXTX novels is the little things that the male leads do for the protagonist. like Luo Binghe making time to cook for his Shizun everyday, Lan Wangji ordering spicy food just to suit Wei Wuxian's palate, and Hua Cheng killing 33 heavenly officials for Xie Lian
