Reblogging things I like feels a lot more goblinesque than upvoting ever did. The upvotes felt like "hmm yes, I approve *golf claps*" while reblogging feels like furtively staring at something before shoving it in your mouth and scurrying back underneath the nearest piece of furniture.

Which isn't to say that I don't like it. But I definitely find myself going "maybe I shouldn't reblog this because I've already reblogged a bunch of things today and I don't want to look like I don't have a life," I say as I close the app and reopen it like one of those little automatic box toys with the switches.

Thighs that were too thick, legs that didn't spread wide enough, body that took too long to come. Breasts that dipped too low, stomach that stuck out too far, arms that were too soft. Skin that was too dry, hair that was too wild, scale that gave a number too large. Eyes that saw too far ahead, expectations that were set too high heart that wanted too much.

These are the things I used to want to change in the hopes that I could mold myself into someone you loved. God, I would have let you chip away at the core me forever if it meant you'd never leave. You did anyway.

You left me with wounds I'm still trying to heal, bruises that have taken years to mend. But as I look in the mirror to inspect the cuts made by your words, I still recognize the person staring back at me.

Thank you for that.

Thank you for leaving. Thank you for not loving me. Thank you for giving me the chance to love myself.
