I am once again thinking about digging holes
Tumblr media
It's so fucked up that digging a bunch of holes works so well at reversing desertification
Tumblr media
I hate that so much discourse into fighting climate change is talking about bioenginerring a special kind of seaweed that removes microplastics or whatever other venture-capital-viable startup idea when we have known for forever about shit like digging crescent shaped holes to catch rainwater and turning barren land hospitable

behold: what has been taking up my time for the past two and a half weeks!
this piano was a public art commissions for the city! it's covered in dinosaurs that have actually been found (and in the case of 3 of them, discovered) in my home state of colorado. i'm super happy with how it turned out and i had a blast painting it :^)
[image id: a piano painted with various dinosaurs. the left half of the piano represents the dinosaurs in their fossilized form as bones surrounded by fossil leaves and debris. the right half of the piano is the dinosaurs alive in their natural environments. among the species featured are fish, ammonites, orthocones, a plesiosaur, pterosaurs, a brontosaurus, a triceratops, a stegosaurus, and a fruitadens]

This scam made the California University study 124 imported oils and found that over 70% of samples failed the tests.
These failed:
Mezzetta
Carapelli
Pompeian
Primadonna
Mazola
Sasso
Colavita
Star
Antica Badia
Whole Foods
Safeway
Felippo Berio
Coricelli
Bertolli
These brands passed:
Corto olive
Lucero
McEvoy Ranch Organic
Omaggio
California Olive Branch
Bariani Olive oil
Lucini
Ottavio
Olea Estates
Cobram Estate
Kirkland Organic
Also, test the olive oil yourself at home. Put the bottle out when cold, or in the fridge for 30 min. if it gets solid, it is pure and has monounsaturated fats.

This Fossil Friday, let’s get a leg up on the weekend with a colossal limb! This gigantic leg belonged to a sauropod dinosaur. A Museum preparator, standing on a ladder nearby, showcases its enormous size. Known for their long necks and tails, sauropods were the biggest of all dinosaurs and some of the largest animals to have ever walked the planet. One of the very largest, the huge Argentinosaurus, may have grown to a staggering weight of 90 tons (82,000 kg)!
Learn more about dinosaurs at the Museum! Plan your visit.

every single day I think about how american black vultures are known for engaging in allopreening (preening between different species)
and they have a specific relationship with crested caracaras, in which the black vultures assist them by not only preening them after meals but also leading them to food in the first place— due to their superior sense of smell— while the caracaras assist the black vultures by acting as a warning signal in case of danger
and while this is more typical of black vultures, this is not common at all for any member of the falconidae family— it’s a special bond!

yet another post in favor of vultures everyone , hope you enjoy:) and I implore you to do some more research on these incredible birds !!

one of my favorite things about my job that i can say to people that sounds utterly ridiculous but is technically 100% true is that one of our sea turtles keeps trying to get me to commit a felony on her behalf and gets SUPER cranky when i won’t do it

Anyone else think the “phantom cat shaver” might be an inside cat vigilante trying to send a message? This is already making some Brits say they’ll keep their cats indoors.
